I've recently beaten Far Cry 5 and have also invested several weeks into Death Stranding. After awhile I though to myself, 'Hey, why hasn't anyone made a crossover of these two spectacular games?' And soon after I though, 'Wait a minute, I'm a writer.' I suppose that's all I really need to say. So without further ado, please enjoy, ''Mailman of Hope''
All this chapter really does is just explains where we're starting in Far Cry 5. The next chapter will actually contain Sam, Lou, and an explanation as to how they arrived in Hope County in the first place. Consider following.
Chapter 1: A County in Hell:
It's rare for most people to find themselves in a situation where just after a few days of becoming a Rookie for the local police department, they get sent on an assignment that would change both their life, and the world forever. But one special individual, who for some reason like to go as Rookie, just so happens to be in such a situation.
You see, Hope County was always a calm and peaceful place. Perfect place to raise a family and settle down. Or so most of its residents thought. Turns out some not so friendly faces also had their eyes set on the county. These faces just so happen to be a cult that would put even Jim Jones to shame. They were led by a man named Joseph Seed. Or as he loved to be called, the Father. And let it be known, he is one evil motherfucker.
So evil in fact that he sees no problem with torturing and killing anyone who doesn't accept his religious teachings. Accompanied with him was his so called 'family'. The two brothers John and Jacob. As well as the little sister, Faith. The perfect psychotic family.
When the department got the warrant for Joseph's arrest, most officers were hesitant to accept the honor to tag along with the Sheriff and bring the fucker in. But the Rook wanted to prove to everyone that she was ready to become a Deputy. A simple assignment she thought it would be. Oh, how wrong she was.
Shit hit the fan pretty quickly. Not only did they fail to bring Joseph in, but they were stuck in a now cult controlled Hope County. Not as fun as you might think. Everyone that was accompanied by the Rook was captured, or killed.
Only the Rook managed to escape, taking out a few cultists as she did so. A man by the name of Dutch found her washed up on the side of a lake. Seeing a chance to free his county, Dutch rescued her and got her to work fast. Telling her that she would have to be the one to liberate Hope County.
The Rook would have never guessed that when it came to shooting people, stabbing people, breaking their necks, burning them alive with Molotovs, blowing them up with grenades, C4 and dynamite. She was a natural. She easily killed anyone associated with Joseph that she happened across.
Now before we go into any further details. Some facts should be laid out. There are three main regions to Hope County. Each region controlled by a specific member of Joseph's family. Dutch recommended that the Rook start with John's region. Seeing as he saved her, she decided it was best to take the old man's advice.
As they say in both the Military (Salute) and fourth grade, you can't win battles without a few friends. Luckily for Rook making friends was her third greatest talent. Right behind shooting and holding her breath underwater. After befriending a pilot named Nick, who recently became a father, a women by the name of Grace, who could easily take a man's head off from miles away with her rifle, and a dog named Boomer, (Okay) she took the fight right to John.
She had hoped that directly fighting with John would've ended quickly. But sadly, it was the opposite. After taking a piece of Nick's flesh off, John asked the Rook to say ''Yes''. Which is a way of saying, ''Join me and my cult of brainwashed killers.'' Despite not speaking, she still gave a response.
Instead of a ''Yes'' John got a bullet to his ear. Rook could only imagine the awful ringing going on inside the man's head. But in the moment she didn't have time, for John attempted to flee from the scene. When Rook caught up with him, he had already made his way into a plane and was making his way to his bunker.
Seeing all the good people dead because of John, Rook wasn't about to let him get away. She and Nick followed him into the sky, and soon enough shot him down. His plane burned as it fell to the ground. When the Rook landed she found John's charred corpse, and quickly took his bunker key.
John's bunker contained one of the Rook's friends whom she was separated from. Her name was Hudson, and she had been through some real hell. After breaking into the bunker, killing every cultist inside, and freeing every prisoner, Rook made a daring escape with her friends.
With John dead and most of the cultists in the region suffering from the same fate, Hope County breathed a small sigh of relief. Though Rook knew there was no time to rest, after all she still had Faith and Jacob to deal with. And supposedly they were even more dangerous than John.
Still, there's nothing wrong with a small celebration, which just so happens to be where our story starts. Inside the Spread Eagle bar located in the town of Fall's End, where our current friends are having a few drinks.
''No, no no... no. That's not even remotely close. In fact I'd go so far to say that you've never been more off in your entire life.'' Hudson said to Nick, whilst she took a few more shots of whiskey. Nick and Hudson were having a heated argument on whether or not a plane or helicopter was the better choice when it came to air vehicles. Rook, Grace, and Mary just observed the conversation, taking occasional drinks as they listened. Boomer laid nearby, sleeping.
Nick kept the argument going, arguing back, ''How the fuck can you even say that?! Last I check it was my plane that brought down John. Or maybe my memory isn't as good as I...'' Nick stopped talking, noticing that he was receiving a glare from Rook. Nick restated his previous claim. ''What I meant to say, was that I 'helped' take down John. But it was mostly done by our friend Rook here. Who I will now give a toast to.''
After raising his glass, Nick said, ''To our good friend and liberator Rook. The one who armed, protected, and saved all of us. If not for her, I might not have been blessed with my beautiful baby girl. To Rook!''
Everyone else in the bar raised their glasses and repeated the words, ''To Rook!''. Afterwords there was a short amount of silence between everyone present. Then the argument picked back up. Hudson saying, ''When it comes to speed, sure you'll probably win that battle any day. But what about weapons? I've seen your plane. All it has are a couple of machine guns. Most choppers in the area come loaded with rockets and even flares. Sorry buddy, but I think we both know who's right.''
That made Nick cross his arms. He took one more shot before standing up. ''I think I'm gonna get going now,'' Nick said, putting on his coat. It's getting pretty late, and I don't want Kim to worry about me. I'll meet up with you tomorrow Rook. Afterwords, we'll bring the fight straight to Faith. I'm really looking forward to it.''
As a parting gift Nick offered a fist bump to Rook. She accepted it, adding an explosive sound effect as she did. Taking a bottle of whiskey with him, Nick left the bar. Now on the topic of Faith, Grace asked Rook, ''So, you and Nick, huh? I guess that's a pretty good choice. I mean sure he isn't that good with a gun, but still good choice. But do you think that maybe I could tag along with you guys?''
Rook tapped Mary on the shoulder. Which was a way of signaling Mary to answer the question for her. ''Rook would prefer it if you'd stay here.'' Mary said, pouring her guests a few more drinks. ''She'd also like to mention that it has nothing to do with your skills. She just needs someone to watch over Fall's End.'' Rook whispered something quietly into Mary's ear. Mary continued, saying, ''And Boomer.''
Boomer let out a bark, then hopped onto Rook's lap. Rook giggled and proceeded to pet her favorite dog on his head. Hudson moved her chair away from Boomer, not forgetting the last time she tried to pet him. Luckily for her his previous owners made sure to get him his rabies shots.
Once again Rook whispered so that only Mary could hear her. Mary let out a small laugh, nodded, then left the room to retrieve a few things. Hudson finally had enough of Rook's lack of speaking. She said to Rook, ''Why do you only seem to speak to her, Rook? Part of me wants to believe it's some type of trauma you've suffered after meeting the cult. But the other part of me remembers you weren't exactly all that talkative before.''
No response came from Rook. She didn't really have an answer for Hudson. For all of Rook's life she never really spoke to anyone except for when she had to. Mary came back into the room, and placed a few items on the table. They consisted of several shovels, skeleton gloves, and an odd mask. All items would play a key role for tomorrow.
