Salt of the earth

Chapter one: Get the stone rolling

"Good job terra!" the voice hero grinned at his sidekick, sending her a thumbs up as he detained the failed thief.

The girl stood tall dusting herself off, a wide grin causing her crystal blue eyes to sparkle in the street lights. Her sand colored hair was pulled into a bun, all aside from the blue and black striped frame on right side of her face. At just sixteen it was rare to see someone her age out helping the heroes, but she had already become a third year at U.A. high. A stubborn streak in her causing her to push herself further ahead in her studies and with her quirk.

"just doing my part Present Mic" she leaned to the ground pressing her palm flat before the earth shook lightly and anything made of dirt and stone returned to where it belonged . Satisfied with her repair she stood and walked to Mic "what time is it?" the man looked at his watch before giving her a shunning look "past your curfew kiddo, Why don't you go ahead and get home, shouldn't be much more trouble."

Before she could argue Mic held up a hand with a small grin "Don't forget tomorrow is the start of training for the festival." This caught the girls attention making her grin with enthusiasm "Maybe you are right sir" he chuckled and gave her a thumbs up "you did great tonight, I'll see you in class." With a nod she took off at a run for the agency.

Once she had reached Present Mic's agency she waved to the receptionist and went to her office to change. Her hero costume was simple enough, black pants and tank top with a red single sleeved jacket over top. The jacket was long enough that it reached her knees, and a thick leather belt kept it pulled into her waist. With a small smile she placed the jacket and belt into the small locker and grabbed out a black leather jacket, silver studs lining the sleeves and shoulders and the lining a striking blue. She let her hair down and switched from her work boots to a pair of trainers as clear eyes scanned over her reflection.

As she left the agency she gave a small wave to the other sidekicks and took off at a jog for her home. She was lucky to live fairly close by, especially on nights that they worked late. she caught a glimpse of something from the corner of her eye and stopped, turning halfway to look closer. Her eyes narrowed at the sight of a boy leaning against a wall in the ally. Carefully she made her way to him "hey, you alright?" with no response she looked around, no one else in the area to help. She sighed heavily and moved to his side kneeling, hair falling over her shoulder as she looked at him. No wounds physically, but he was drenched in sweat.

The boy looked about her age, red hair spiked up aside from what had fallen around his face. With a gentle nudge the boy opened his eyes, a dull crimson color and it was clear he was disorientated "Hey red, you alright? Did something happen" his red eyes scanned the figure in front of him, barely recognizing the question as he tried to see the person, the street light giving a glow to their silhouette but blocking their features. His nose scrunched lightly "y..yeah. I ugh….over exerted myself" the laugh that followed tickled his ears "this isn't a great place for a nap red, here drink this" he felt something cold get placed in his hand and as his eyes drifted down he saw an energy drink.

He hated feeling this weak but moved to open the drink "thanks….can you.." the form shifted "yeah I'll stay for a minute" he was thankful he didn't have to say it and gladly drank the refreshing liquid. He still couldn't tell who had woken him but by the time he had finished the drink he felt confident he could get home if he minded his pace. The girl aided him in standing "you should be more careful, I've got to go but try to be safe red" "Kirishima" the figure paused before nodding, he could now clearly see the blue hair on the side of her face. "stay safe Kirishima" with a small thumbs up his aid left, and he turned for home.

Makoto couldn't help the small smirk as she walked, boys always did push themselves too far. She finished her trek home, thinking of the dull tired look in his eyes. For a moment she hoped he got home safely, but shook the thought. A hero had no time to worry about every single person they helped. She nodded to herself, he was going to be just fine as long as he didn't take another ally nap and if he did another hero would probably see him.

As soon as she got home she greeted the giant sand colored akita that nearly tackled her to the ground "Senpu easy, you're going to wake dad." She let the dog out as she moved to her room and changed into her pajamas. When she fetched her companion it wasted no time running to her room and attempting to hog her bed. Rolling her eyes the girl sat at her desk a moment, looking over the multiple schedules in place. It was a pinch but she was going to make all this work.

She refused to miss a single day of class, though her grades weren't the best she couldn't see herself missing a single lesson. Then she had hero work several nights, she didn't work so hard to get it so she could tell Present Mic she wasn't able to keep up. Shifting those aside she looked at the training, with the festival coming up she wanted to be top of her game, blue eyes narrowed in frustration "Senpu why do I do this to myself?" she looked over her bed getting a small whine from the pooch. With a laugh she marked a few days she would have to take off training and double check nothing was over booked.

"Alright move over you blanket hog" she flicked the light and pushed her way into the bed beside Senpu, who eagerly snuggled up to her. She wrapped her arms around him and yawned letting her mind wind down. She gave one last thought to the red headed boy before allowing her mind to wind down and sleep to take over. Dreams of being a pro that could return glory to her family consuming her until it was time to wake.
