A Simple Reunion

Astoria Malfoy nee Greengrass was curled in her husband's lap with a book perched in her hand occasionally glancing up at her three-year-old son, who was chasing a magical toy train on the Persian rug.

"Do you know when your mother will arrive to watch Scorpius? I really don't want to be late," she asked.

"There's no reason for you to be worrying about such things, it's not even your reunion." Draco replied dismissively with a wave of his hand.

"Besides, my mother is never late, you don't need to worry Greengrass," teasing her fondly with a grin upon his face.

Astoria rolled her eyes at his antics, just as she did Narcissa Malfoy walked through the door. Astoria and Draco greeted her before he got up to kiss her on the cheek, "Thank you for watching Scorpius, Mother."

"Of course, darling, it's my pleasure, I love spending time with little Scorpius. Well, off you go and get ready, you only have an hour left," she said as she ushered both Draco and Astoria upstairs to get ready.

Upstairs Astoria was looking through her wardrobe, contemplating what to wear, her thoughts were abruptly interrupted by her husband's voice, "Wear the navy one that I bought you last month." She raised her eyebrow into a thin arched line, still looking for the dress.

"Why?" she asked, he replied with a smirk. "Because you look absolutely brilliant in it, 'Stori"

She had already decided to wear it before his suggestion, he had a surprisingly decent sense of fashion, considering his known characteristics. Finally locating it, she turned around and gave Draco a soft smile, nodded and turned around to get changed.

As Harry walked through the door dressed in his formal robes, ready for the night, Ginny asked "Did you drop James, Al and Lily off alright?"

"Yes Gin, they were good" he paused to think, "And I told James to behave."

Ginny snorted, knowing her eldest son would be his cheeky usual self no matter what Harry told him

"Are you ready yet Gin?" asked Harry patiently, "Yes, I am, shall we get going?" Ginny asked.

Harry nodded, smiling warmly at her before they both apparated to Hogsmeade.

Little twinkling lights dotted the black sky, gifting the ground below with a gentle light. Many witches and wizards, hand in hand, were chatting excitedly as they approached the Great Hall of Hogwarts. Many had not visited for a for a decade as of that moment. Many faces, familiar, yet changed with age, checked off their names and entered through the large oak doors of the Great Hall, in anticipation to for their ten-year Hogwarts Reunion. Among these people, red, raven black and platinum blonde heads could be made out.

Lady Astoria Malfoy quickly spotted her friend, Oliva Pucey. Walking towards her, she detached herself from her husband's arm and embraced Oliva in a warm hug.

Surprised, Astoria exclaimed, "Oliva! I never expected to see you here, how are you doing?"

Despite being in different houses, Astoria considered Olivia one of her closest friends at Hogwarts. Students would remark their stark differences in their personalities. Olivia was bubbly and friendly, a trait uncommon among the studious Ravenclaws, and Astoria, had been reserved and unwarm, not unlike her older sister, dubbed Slytherin's 'Ice Princess' Daphne Greengrass.

Olivia replied with a bright smile, "Professor McGonagall needed a few people to assist, and since I knew lots of people at this year's reunion, I thought it would be fun if I volunteered. It would also look wonderful on future applications and such."

The pair of friends conversed and caught up for a little, being bored, Draco slipped away for refreshments.

When Astoria had re-joined Draco after her conversation with Olivia, he whispered, "Can we go home now, I've seen enough."

She nudged him with my elbow, replying, "I thought you had agreed to behave, or else I'll have another man comfort me in bed tonight. In fact, I already have a wonderful person in mind," Astoria mocked.

"Who?" he demanded, and with a sensual whisper, he added, "Besides, no one does a better job at comforting you than I do, don't deny it love."

Looking at her expectantly, Astoria replied with a wide grin, "Oh, I assure you, he is very charming and cute, a lot nicer than you are, and I can persuade him to join me in bed more easily than you."

She paused for effect, looking at Draco challengingly, disbelief shown on his face, and a flash of hurt but Astoria chalked that up to her imagination.

Finally, she said triumphantly "His name is Scorpius."

He let out a huff and gave his wife a withering look, but Astoria could swear she saw the relief is his grey eyes.

Suddenly, with a smirk he said, "Scorpius' first word was 'dada' if you recall."

Astoria smiled, rolled her eyes, as they walked deeper inside, Blaise Zabini, Daphne Greengrass and the rest of Draco's friends and were friendly conversing with each other before Blaise looked up and noticed them, leading the rest to follow his gaze.

"Well, well look who decided to show," commented Theodore Nott.

"Evening, Theo," Draco said exasperated.

Astoria greeted Daphne with a hug and a kiss on the cheek and proceeded to do the same with Blaise and Theo. From behind them, Pansy Parkinson sauntered over with Greg Goyle by her side with a sultry gaze, directed at Draco. She walked up to him and started sliding her hand up his toned shoulders, looking up at him seductively and whispered loudly, probably knowing everyone within five metres could hear her.

"Hello Draco, is having the little Greengrass whore as a wife still good enough for you? Or would you rather someone prettier, smarter and sexier."

Pansy made it clear she was referring to herself by conspicuously tightening her hold on Draco and leaning closer into him. While Astoria was slightly offended, she was more concerned with what she knew was about to happen; Pansy Parkinson had just officially made the biggest mistake of her life. Although, the Slytherins did give her credit for her boldness, most of them did anyways. Before Pansy, or anyone, could say or do anything further, Draco had roughly removed himself from Pansy and held her at wand point.

"Listen, Parkinson," he hissed, "You ever and I mean ever, insult Astoria, my wife, again, I swear to Merlin himself, there will be very few things you will have regretted more in your life. Got it?" And as he was lowering his wand, Parkinson sent Astoria another glare, then tried to look like an innocent, confused puppy, plastering the coy smile back on her face as her eyes met Draco's, he hissed "And don't you even think about coming near me again."

Still extremely pissed and on guard, Draco had his wand up against Pansy. Astoria huffed and smiled softly,

"Draco," she whispered, "It's alright, calm down, you don't want to make a scene, do you?"

She teased him but she didn't want him to get to aggravated on a night he was meant to enjoy and as much as he refused to admit it, she knew her husband wanted to, even in the slightest, enjoy tonight. He turned to face her, wrapping an arm around her waste and gave her a small smile, indicating he had cooled down a little.

She pressed a soft kiss to his cheek and tilted her head, looking at Parkinson expectantly. Pansy turned her nose up, glared at the couple and dragged Goyle away. Astoria fully expected a similar scenario to occur the next time they ran in to each other, but she was confident in Draco's love for her.

Suddenly a wave of fatigue passed over her, she leaned onto Draco a bit more for support.

Noticing the sudden change, Draco voiced his concern, "Are you alright Astoria? Do you need to sit down? You've pushed yourself quite hard already tonight."

"Don't be silly, just feeling a bit tired, the feeling will pass," but Astoria refused to look him in the eye.

Astoria could practically feel Draco's stern, doubtful gazed directed at her but chose to ignore it. They moved over the lounges to take a seat, which were much more comfortable than the benches they had back in their Hogwarts days.

On the other side of the hall, Harry felt many eyes on him, as he was talking to Ron about the latest auror mission. It still made him uncomfortable but over the years he had been easing in and slowly getting used to the stares and whispers due to his fame. A warm, soft hand grasped his and squeezed comfortingly, he looked over at Ginny and smiled, letting her know that he was alright.

They had already greeted half a dozen people who they haven't spoken to in over 10 years, all congratulating Harry and Ginny on numerous things; the marriage, the auror promotion, the baby, the Holyhead's quidditch cup. They powered through with polite smiles, but Harry couldn't wait to leave. He wanted to go home and soak in a warm bath with his wife. Then he wanted to read to his children and tuck them into bed. The committee didn't really organise anything else other than drinks and canapes, so Molly's leftovers sounded terrific.

In retrospective, it wasn't all that bad, some of the things Harry's old classmates got up to in the last 10 years were really surprising and interesting to hear about. Dean Thomas was working in a department in the ministry which looked after muggleborns, ensuring both their home life and introduction into the wizarding world went smoothly. Dean enjoyed working with children that were abandoned because muggles were afraid of their powers, he even coaches a football team of muggleborn children. Seamus Finnigan had gone into warding houses and was one of the best (despite his well-known reputation of accidentally blowing everything up when he used his wand as a young child). Parvati Patil had travelled to India to work with the underprivileged, both magic and muggle. Harry was genuinely happy to hear that his classmates were so happy with their lives.

When the night was finally coming to an end, people began to slowly trickle out of the hall. When Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione decided that it was also time to go, they headed to the exit together, bidding their old classmates goodbye.

As they reached the entranced, they spotted a certain platinum blond haired man who had his arm around a tall, beautiful brunette. Malfoy seemed to be whispering something into his companion's ear as she softly laughed.

As Harry was about to call out to Malfoy, beside him, Ginny exclaimed, "Healer Greengrass!"

Surprised, Astoria turned around to face the two couples, "Miss Weasley? It's been too long, I suppose it's Mrs Potter now? How's that arm of yours? Its completely better now, I hope."

Ginny brightened, "Yeah of course, it's great, after all, that injury is over 5 years old. Are you Healer Malfoy now?"

Astoria laughed, "Oh no, even if my health did allow me to still be a Healer, it'd definitely still be Greengrass, after all, it's a way better name than Malfoy. Know what I mean?"

Astoria glanced over to Draco, giving him a cheeky grin, he rolled his eyes and tapped her arm fondly.

Everyone laughed at that, Harry, Ron and Hermione slightly surprised that one of Ginny's healer for her major arm injury was Malfoy's wife, even more so, with the easy going personality Astoria had.

Deciding they should all have lunch some time at a new restaurant which opened in Diagon Alley, despite the protests of Ron and Draco, they parted with easy smiles and relaxed faces.

It had been a long night, and everyone anticipatingly headed home to finally rest and see their precious children.

The End

Hope you enjoyed it!
