Chapter 1
The boys hid inside the bunkhouse listening to another one of Kid and Lou's horrible fights outside. Cody pulled his pillow over his head. Noah, Buck, Ike, and Jimmy sat at the table looking at each other. Jimmy started tapping his hand on the table. Buck and Ike shook their heads. Noah watched as Jimmy's face started to turn a deep red.
"Don't go out there, man."
"I'm getting sick and tired of this shit."
"Just let them handle it."
They sat and listened to Kid start screaming at Lou. Lou had gotten quiet then suddenly she screamed.
"Get away from me and leave me the hell alone!" Lou screamed.
Jimmy had heard enough. He pushed back from the table and went to the door.
"Jimmy!" Noah yelled out but that didn't stop him.
Jimmy slammed the door behind him. He saw Lou leaning back against the wall while Kid was yelling in her face. Jimmy grabbed Kid by his shoulder and pulled him away from her.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Jimmy yelled.
"It ain't none of your business! It's between me and her!" Kid yelled back at Jimmy.
"Well it ain't no more! I'm making it my business!"
"Back off, Jimmy!"
"Not til you leave her alone!"
Kid went to push Jimmy away which made Jimmy's temper explode. He pushed Kid back. Lou screamed out as the two fell off the porch onto the hard ground. Noah and the others ran outside. Buck and Ike grabbed at Kid. Noah and Cody pulled Jimmy away. Lou got between them.
"Now just stop it! Both of ya!"
"He needs to learn to stop sticking his nose in our business!"
"You need to learn to treat her with respect!"
"Just shut up!" Yelled Lou.
The boys settled down and looked at her. She stood in the middle of them all.
"I want both of you to just stop! Jimmy, I appreciate you coming to help but I can handle him just fine. And Kid, I have had enough of your stupid whining! You hear me, I've had enough!"
"Maybe it would be easier if you would just be as a woman should be and listen to her man!" Yelled Kid.
"What you want her to be?! Obedient without a mind of her own!" Jimmy yelled back.
"Jimmy stop! I told you that I could handle this!"
"Come on Lou, he'll say anything to get on your good side!" Yelled Kid.
Lou glared at Kid. She walked over to stand in front of him while the other boys watched.
"Kid, I don't think we should see each other anymore. I can't take any more fights and I can't change me. I'm sorry. Don't try to change my mind." Lou said quietly as she turned and walked to the barn.
The boys stood still and didn't say a word. Kid turned and walked quickly away towards town. Noah let his arm fall from Jimmy.
"I'm going to take a walk. I'll be back." Said Jimmy as he walked in the opposite direction of Kid and Lou.
"Well what a shocker." Mumbled Cody.
"I didn't think they would end up like this." Said Noah.
"Well it ain't really none of our concern. I'm going back inside." Said Buck as he walked back in followed by Ike.
"Come on Noah." Said Cody as he turned around.
Noah sat and watched Jimmy make his way over to the corral. He shook his head as he turned to follow the others.
