Authors note: So given the sequel is coming out on Valentine's Day I figured I would get this out ahead of it. It is meant to be a one shot, should anything come of it maybe it can become something more, not against it, but at the same time this is being typed out today and it set after the events of the first film and honestly just pertaining to a special moment between Zed and Addison up on the rooftop of the school…which they are allowed on, of course.

Zombies: Hearts are good

Translation: Love is good

Zed stood up on the rooftop overlooking the school parking lot. A slight breeze reaching out ruffling up his green hair and his eyes were closed knowing that the view itself was nothing compared to the beauty and significance of the one in his life who mattered most.

It was hard to believe so much had happened since that day that he and Addison had met in that room, one deigned to shelter up case a Zombie got loose. However honestly for him it was the day he saw her through that chain link fence but yeah their moment began then. He heard the door open behind him knowing that she had got his letter.

"Zed, hey, what are you doing up here? Also are we even allowed up here?" He laughed lightly at her concern and he turned around spreading out his arms.

"I figured there was no better place…for our first Valentine's together. Yeah, hard to believe it has been this long but here we are. Honestly I never really saw myself dating…given where I live none of the girls never interested me."

Addison for her part skipped over to where he was and he was blown away by her beauty and the fact that she wasn't wearing the wig she had back then. There was a certain freedom there and as her hand snuck into his he felt more alive than ever.

"I know that feeling. I used to focus so much of my energy on cheer and when it came to boys at my school, none of them ever compared to the ideas I had in my mind. I am glad though I waited because this was by far the special boy for me."

"Yeah, a Zombie and a human…we are breaking barriers of all sorts. However, there is something I want to add before you add anymore to what you are going to say." He holds up a finger and releases their hold as he scurries over to where he had a basket hidden away. Walking back he opens it up and pulls out a hand made sandwich.

"Oh wow, Zed, you shouldn't have. Wait, there isn't any brain in here is there?" She laughs and he of course can laugh at that as well.

"Well it would give you brain power for eating it, but, no I actually prepared it in the kitchen. Turns out if you are nice about the cooking they will let you back there to make something with the stuff they don't use. But you didn't hear that from me."

Addison begins to eat her sandwich while Zed fishes in the basket for one of his own. The sun is mid-level in the sky looking to set and it was way after school had ended. Zed had some help in setting this up but far be it for him to reveal who helped him. Addison luckily enough managed to follow his clues in getting up here and he had no idea what she had to say to get her parents to understand why she was staying late.

Cheer practice wasn't holding practice today and he imagined her parents picked up on the fact she was meeting with him. However this was all him thinking and maybe thinking too much on it; truth is, she was here with him.

"There is something I wanted to give you…but didn't have a lot of time today. It might be a bit wrinkled but I think in the end it is the thought that counts." He swallowed what he could of his sandwich and watched as she fished out a card.

"You made this for me? I completely forgot Addison; oh don't be mad at me. I mean yes it is Valentine's Day but even so-."

"Relax Zed, you got this wonderful meal planned and this beautiful sunset, plus, you are in my life so that has to count for something." She smiles that pleasant smile of hers and he basks in before realizing she is waiting for him to read the card.

"Yeah I should probably read this now," he remarks and as he opens the card up he reads it. "To the zombie, who stole my heart, you have given me so many things…and I hope that I am in your heart too, for without you in this world…where two hearts are not as one…nothing is as perfect."

"I mean every word. I hope it wasn't too corny or anything." Addison really spoke her feelings out in this card. He wished he had thought to do a card up but it had slipped his mind.

"It was perfect Addison, I mean, the way you write it is just flows from the card. You also drew a picture of us which is awesome." He smiled as he fought to control his emotions. Placing the card in the basket so he didn't forget it he thinks back to his journey here with Addison…what more awaited them off this rooftop following this day and the day after next.

"Thanks, well, think we should probably get now before the cops are called out here? I mean yeah the whole thing with the zombies things to have settled down but still imagine there is a curfew in place." Addison rubs at her arm and he goes to take off his jacket as he places it around her shouldrers.

"Sorry…didn't plan on it being this late. I did plan for something during lunch but the preparation for the meal and fitting in classes themselves…took quite a bit. However I have to say regardless I have no regrets…because to me…even though I can't really write it out on a card, my entire being, my happiness and all the emotions I have…they are the Valentine's Card and they go all to you."

"Aww, you are so sweet Zed. I will treasure this Valentine's Card for all Valentines to come. However I do believe that you and I should really get off this roof now, it is not only getting cold but if I don't show up at home within reason they will begin to wonder if I disappeared like I did back then."

Zed didn't want this moment to end…not at least yet. True the two of them had exchanged their cards, his was kind of attached to him, but at the same time there was more he had to say, more he could do to convey just how much she meant to him. Part of him searched within for the answer and as the sun began to set it hit him…and gazing down into her eyes perfection lit him up and he let his emotions move him.

Addison appeared confused at first but then as his lips touched hers the two of them were held together. Her hands reaching up and collecting at the back of his neck while his own settled along the small of her back. Their bodies were twined together and the moment couldn't have gone better if he had planned it himself, which of course he did not plan this sunset kiss but maybe it was best he didn't…because it would take away the magic.

The kiss lasted a bit before both had to pull away. Addison was blushing madly and not wishing to break away from him. He knew in that moment he had to speak the words or else it would be lost and they would part ways just reveling in the kiss, which was so great, but really this had to be said.

"I love you Addison." He felt some sort of warmth spread over him or rather something else given how zombies were such things kind of didn't make sense.

"I love you too Zed. I mean the picnic, the card, the sunset, and the kiss…almost too much for a girl to process. However I do know how I feel about you…and now I must really go, but, text me tomorrow for sure."

"Yeah, oh and you can keep the jacket…I don't get cold too easily anyway." He smiles after her as she waves and heads out the door. Smiling to himself he felt truly happy, the happiest he had ever been. Still the sun was getting low and he needed to get home himself. Walking off he felt that he and Addison had taken another step in the right direction with their burgeoning relationship.

Authors note: I suppose all that is to be said is up above. The first movie had a spark and so with the second film coming out shortly I felt now was the time to be here. No idea yet to what will amount from the second film so figured this felt right. Disney appears to have a plan with no kiss in the first film so might get one in the second film, long as they don't mess with Zed and Addison much. Either way hope everyone's day went well. Meant to be a Valentine's Story.
