Run. The only word in my vocabulary. Anything that is there is ready to kill me. My blood rushes through my veins ten times faster. I could feel the multitude of tears that were streaming down on my cheeks. I was without breathe from so much running. But I couldn't stop. It'll kill me if I would stop.
"Jacqueline Delacour..." I heard a mysterious voice behind me. I continued running, tears creating rivers on my cheeks. I could not breath regularly anymore, my heart exploding in my chest from the adrenaline. I used to love adrenaline, but behind me was someone or something that was ready to eat my flesh without hesitating a second. My feet felt like they were on fire, forming an unbelievable pain, but I didn't stop, I couldn't stop.
Why did I have to wear heels? I couldn't run fast enough with them on. I stopped for just to get them off my feet. I threw them away as hard as I could and started running again to the gates, knowing that was my biggest chance of surviving.
"You cannot escape, Jacqueline... Endure your choice." The voice said again. Choice, the only thing that could've saved me from this. Exactly four weeks ago, I received a mysterious letter from an anonymous person that invited me to join "Nummulariorum" to make the world a better place, erasing the dinners from existence. Also, they said if I didn't join them in a week by writing a yes on the letter, they would've watched me to see if I am worth living and if I wasn't, I would've suffered an awful death.
At first I thought it was a sick joke made by one of the students here at Beauxbatons, but I started having doubts when I discovered another note in my Ghoul Studies textbook, saying that I am doing a mistake and that they are watching me closely. What gave me shivers down my spine was the blood on the note. I am sure it was blood because I tested it and it matched Théodore's, my brother, blood.
But I knew it was all true when Laura Rue, am older girl in my school, was found dead in her chamber. It was too late to join them and I knew that I had to tell someone, but something made me to not do it. It was like my mouth couldn't say the words or couldn't write them. I tried all the methods to make my Headmistress aware of what cruelty was happening under her nose, but I always ended up failing.
I tried to find out what "Nummulariorum" meant or if there was any mention of it in the history. Unfortunately, I failed finding something in the library where all the books were. I even entered the Restricted Section to look for it but I couldn't find anything. But I found out what it meant. "The Changers" was the translation from Latin. Whatever they were, it was something new, made by some psychopath who must most likely a serial killer.
As I drifted back into overthinking, I felt a huge pain in my right leg. As I looked to see what it was, I was surprised to see that I had a muggle arrow in it. Why would they use arrows? I growled in pain as the now recognizable mannish voice laughed.
Although it was most likely to not stand a chance of survival with this man, I kept running, leaving the arrow there. Good moment to not bring your wand, Jackie! Well done! I saw the gates of the Beauxbatons castle large open to my surprise and I got out on them.
I knew I lost a lot of blood because of the arrow, but I wouldn't stop, not when I am this close to escape from this man. I kept running, hoping that in the woods he will lose me.
Another arrow was shot in my other leg, making it almost impossible for me to run. Forget running, I was not even walking anymore. To my surprise, the man didn't take advantage of my awful condition, but kept his distance from me. What did he want? To kill me, of course, stupid question, but why? Why was he so into killing me when I did nothing wrong?
The chilly wind was making my blonde locks fly behind my back while the rocky ground made my feet hurt really much. Maybe if I am surrendering, I would still be alive? Jackie, stop thinking such things! Of course you wouldn't turn yourself in and be one some cold hearted criminal like all the guys in that cult or whatever is that.
Surprisingly, I reached the beautiful forest which was lighted with little fairy lights from ten to ten meters. The tall trees looked like guardians of the fairytale that the woods had to share, while the beautiful song of the mystical birds enlightened my ears with their charm. The beautiful picture almost made me stop from thinking of the nightmare I was currently living in, but "almost" is such a strong word that changed totally the context of the situation.
I entered the forest, thinking if I how much could I run away from the guy that was following me like some kind of mental stalker of uncle Harry's. I heard a loud growl, most likely from a werewolf since it was a full moon, and I started panicking. What if the werewolf kills me before the shady man does? Why did I come to the forest anyway? Absolute stupidity from Jacqueline Delacour. My beautiful baby blue uniform was destroyed from all the action that I wish didn't happen.
When I arrived at a picturesque lake in the woods, I saw a tall figure with red eyes and long sharper ears. I never saw a werewolf, but from their description, this was an Alpha, the strongest, the most agile and the fastest of all the werewolves. And where was an Alpha, there was a pack. I screamed as hard as I could, thinking that somehow I had the power to scare him and continue my race. Of course, it was another stupid decision made by me as the werewolf started running towards me with an unbelievable speed.
Surprisingly, a tall figure came in front of me and used an unknown spell that killed him in an instant. It wasn't the killing curse, but it was still a curse made to kill someone. The man turned around and I saw a brunette boy with hazel eyes. I recognized him in an instant.
"Mathieu?" I asked my classmate, that just saved my life in order to take it himself. 'How could you? Why?" I asked angrily. "Petite... I told you before, it is jot good to be reckles in these situations." he responded with a smirk on his face. "I really wish I could've save you, but you are stupid, not joining his side." "Who's side?" I asked. "You'll see, my love..." he said as I felt how my eyes slowly closed. I lost too much blood, I was fainting.
I woke up in a total different place, a dark, chilly room that had a smell I never sensed before. When I realized what smelled in there, I was disgusted. It smelled like death. My legs were miraculously healed and I was naked, my beautiful baby blue uniform nowhere to be found. I tried to see some signs that I escaped, that someone saved me from this awful faith. Unfortunately, I did not spot anything. It was just room painted in black in the shape of a cube with a a little light o the ceiling that lighted enough just to see myself. I tried to find an escape, yelling and punching the walls with no luck. I gave up, knowing that I wouldn't have found anything besides blood on the walls from my fist. My fingers hurt as a consequence from my actions, the pain being considerably strong. I started crying like a pathetic heartbroken teenage girl that I had in school. My mind started displaying images of my loved ones, my mother, my brother, my best friend and my boyfriend. Nostalgia started conquering my mind while tears were falling down my cheeks.
After it felt like days, a light showed up from one of the walls that was proven to be a door. In it was Mathieu, the guy that I started to loathe deeply. "Leave me alone!" I said hushed while I tried to stop crying. "Leave me alone, Mathieu! Go to hell!" I said while he came closer to me. "I am sorry, beautiful... but you are a sinner. The sinners must pay." he said while he took me in his arms. "Put me down, pervert!" I screamed, hoping that someone would hear and save me. "It is too late, Jackie."
I started kicking him and punching him while he took me somewhere, but none of those had an effect. I couldn't believe what monster was hidden in that school that I thought it was my home.
We entered a room that was complete the opposite of the one I was in before. It was white, it smelled like chemicals and light was everywhere in it. There was a long table with 10 men and another tables with more men and women that I could count. Mathieu left me there, naked on a little stage.
"Jacqueline Appoline Delacour... second born of widowed Gabrielle Delacour and late Hanrey Delacour, age 17, studied at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, am I correct?" A young man asked. I nodded, preferring to not act foolish in front of that many men. "Miss Delacour, tell me, do you know the story of the Deathly Hallows?" He asked as I nodded. "Let's just... read it again to be sure." He said as he started reading.
"There were once three brothers who were travelling along a lonely, winding road at twilight. Three brothers, travelling along a lonely, winding road at twilight reached a deep treacherous river where anyone who attempted to swim or wade would drown. Learned in the magical arts, the brothers conjured a bridge with their wands and proceed to cross. Halfway though the bridge, a hooded figure stood before them. The figure was the enraged spirit of Death, cheated of his due. Death cunningly pretended to congratulate them and proceeds to award them with gifts of their own choosing.
The eldest brother, a combative man, asked for a wand more powerful than any in existence. Death granted his wish by fashioning the Elder Wand from a branch of a nearby elder tree standing on the banks of the river. The second brother, an arrogant man, chose to further humiliate death, and asked for the power to recall the deceased from the grave. Death granted his wish by crafting the Resurrection Stone from a stone picked from the riverbank. The third and youngest brother, who was the most humble and wise, did not trust Death and asked for something to enable him to go forth without Death being able to follow. A reluctant Death, most unwillingly, handed over his own Invisibility cloak.
The three brothers took their prizes and soon went on their separate ways.
The eldest brother travelled to a village where a wizard whom he had quarrelled lived. He sought out a duel and fought the wizard using the wand, instantly killing the latter.
Leaving his enemy dead upon the floor, the eldest brother walked to an inn not far from the duelling site and spent the night there. Taken by his conscience and lust of the Elder Wand's power, the eldest brother boasted of this wand gifted by Death and his own invincibility.
That very night, Death transfigured to a murderous wizard. The unknown murderous wizard crept to the inn as the eldest brother slept, drunk from wine. The wizard slit the oldest brother's throat for good measure and stole the wand. That was when Death took the first brother.
The second brother returned to his home where he lived alone. Turning the stone thrice in his hand the figure of the girl he had once hoped to marry, before her untimely death, appeared at once before him, much to his delight. Yet she was sad and cold, separated from him as by a veil. Though she had returned to the mortal world, she did not truly belong there and suffered. Finally, the second brother, driven mad with hopeless longing, committed suicide by hanging from his house' balcony so as truly to join her. That was when Death took the second brother for his own.
Death searched for the youngest brother as years passed but never succeeded. It was only when the third brother reached a great age, he took off the Cloak of Invisibility and gave it to his son. Greeting Death as an old friend, they departed this life as an equal." He finished as I looked at him confused.
"Miss Delacour, you see, we are here to prevent something like that happening again. We are the men and women sent by The God of Life himself. And in the process, we must eliminate every sinner, you being one of them. Theodore, please do the honors." He said as my brother came on the stage. What was he doing here? Was he with them?
"Jacqueline Appoline Delacour, I, Theodore Ludovic Delacour, as a changer of the world of The God of Life himself, sent you to death." He said loudly adding a little "I am sorry" hushed.
The last words before everything went black were "Avada Kadavra".
