A/N: Hello all, here is the first chapter of another story I had in mind.
Just some story notes:
Set after the events of Ben 10: Omniverse
Ben is aged 22.
Will crossover with the beginning of Supergirl Season 4.
Italics will be used for telepathy, thoughts and comm units.
Bold for scene changes
Sorry (not really), but Ben 10 and all following series are set in the UK. Ben & co will be from the UK. Read the end for more.
I don't own Ben 10, Supergirl, or anything in the Arrowverse. The only thing I own is what I create.
CW: Ben 10
Chapter I: How it all started
…
Opening monologue: My name is Ben Tennyson, and I am the greatest hero in the Universe. When I was 10 years old, I found a strange watch that fell from space. It attached itself to my wrist and life has never been the same. With the help from my grandpa Max, my doofus cousin Gwen, my best friend Kevin and my partner Rook, we save the world and Universe from those who would do it harm. I am Ben 10.
…
(Earth 10 – Somewhere in Central London * Early Afternoon)
Ben had been having a fairly normal morning, given his regular hero lifestyle. A lot had happened since he had saved the Universe from utter destruction at the hands of Maltruant. On his 21st birthday, he had been gifted the Biomnitrix from Azmuth, a further evolution of the Omnitrix which allows him to fuse different aliens into one and gain the abilities of both but still have access to all of the other functions of all previous versions of the watch. He had grown a few of inches and began to develop a little muscle mass and started to grow out his facial hair, similar to that of the most recent future version of himself that he had met.
Gwen had finished her first course at Friedkin University, and started her second, while Kevin had opened up a full car and auto-body shop nearby so he could stay with Gwen. He employed some alien workers, so they could make a living and so it would also give him a break. They had both gained new abilities in their time together, like Gwen being able to use magic without always needing to utter the spell name and Kevin being able to shift between his human and mutated forms at will, while still retaining his sanity in the process.
Rook had finally loosened up after hanging around with Ben for a few years. Mainly sticking to his by-the-book approach, he would throw the textbook out the window when it was needed, though he does blame Ben for his new attitude. He had finally caught up on a lot of the Earth culture that Ben had been begging him to watch, like Star Wars, the Marvel films, Sumo Slammers and one of the oddest things in his opinion the Simpsons.
"Come on," said Ben as he walked to the table where Rook was sitting, carrying their smoothies, "what is it about the Simpsons you don't like?"
"First of all, they are yellow, that is not normal for humans from what I have seen," explained Rook, sipping his smoothie, "and what is it that is funny about it? They do all the normal things that everyone else does, they work, eat, argue, need I go on?"
"It's funny cos they do stuff that is completely stupid," Ben answered, "like Homer eating that radioactive rod in the intro, or Bart playing all those pranks in school. It's funny because it is stupid and idiotic."
"But sometimes…" Rook spoke before his Plumbers badge interrupted with an alert.
"Attention to all Plumbers" the badge spoke, "we are getting reports that Eon is wreaking havoc in Central London with a squad of minions. Extreme caution is advised due to time-based abilities and weapons".
"Eon?!" Ben questioned, "I thought he was being held in a prison cell in the Null Void that was constantly being patrolled?"
"They couldn't have been bought off," Rook answered, "they're robotic guards. He must have had help in his escape".
"We can think about this on the way there," Ben stated, "you drive, I'll call Gwen and Kevin for back up. Knowing Eon, we're gonna need it."
"My truck better not wrecked like it usually does when we have to go up against one of your villains" Rook spoke sternly as they both walked to the PROTO-TRUK, "it is as if they get some sort pleasure from wrecking it".
Ben just let out a sigh before answering, "look, the last time it wasn't that bad. Only the front end got wrecked, the rest of it was fine." He finally found Kevin's number in his contacts, while Rook started up the roaring engine of his alien truck. "Hey Kev, you guys get the alert about Eon on the rampage?"
"Yeah, I just picked up Gwen from uni and we're on our way to you guys now," answered Kevin, "we'll be there in about 15 minutes".
Ben chuckled, "there won't anything left for you guys in 15 minutes."
"Make it half that then," Kevin answered again. He hung up the phone as he and Gwen sped down the main road. "So, what do you think we'll be going up against with Eon?" he asked his girlfriend.
"Going by what has happened in the past," she reasoned, "anything. He most likely on his own, so he either has an army of Bens brainwashed to work for him or has recruited and allied himself with Bens from different universes to help get rid of this version of Ben."
"Why does keep doing this?" he questioned.
"Don't forget," she answered "he's another version of Ben but not the main version of him. He wants to defeat our Ben and become the main one."
"Well, we better get a move on then," Kevin continued as he sped on.
(Central London – Leicester Square)
Eon's forces were destroying everything. Armed with Chronal-Accelerators, they aged the environment to dust, trees, green areas, buildings, were all left as piles of ash.
"Continue my minions," ordered Eon as he walked through the destruction, "he will arrive soon." His focus changed as Rook and Ben approached in the PROTO-TRUK. "Well, look what the cat dragged in," he commented.
"Nice to see you too, Eon," Ben sarcastically spoke getting out the vehicle, "now why don't you stop the senseless destruction and we can take you back to a nice cosy cell back in the Null Void?"
"Hardly senseless, there's a reason for everything in the Universe," the alternate Ben clarified, "all of this was to draw you here."
"Why?" Rook questioned.
"I've realised I can't destroy you without destroying myself in the process," he explained, "all versions of Ben Tennyson and their worlds are variations of this prime timeline. Destroying you or this universe would destroy the basis for the others…"
"And since you're another version of me, doing so would eradicate you as well," Ben finished.
"You have caught on, well done. So instead, I'm gonna send you to an Earth, one where you won't be able to escape from!" Eon acted on the last sentence by bringing his left arm and sending a blue stream of energy towards Ben and Rook. The duo dropped to the ground, out of the way of the beam, that after a certain distance, transformed into a swirling blue vortex.
"Gotta admit, it's a pretty good plan, all things considered," Ben admitted, earning a look from Rook.
"Is this really the time to be saying that your enemy is good at trying to get rid of you?! Rook sternly asked, getting up of the grass.
"Alright, alright, let's deal with this mess and then we can talk about it," Ben answered, crossing his forearms, "Diamond-Arms!". In a flash of green light, Ben's human form was replaced with another. In his place, stood a 12-foot-tall, four-armed alien that was made entirely of red crystal. Two long spikes extended from the top of his back with smaller pair down his back in line with the top pair. From his upper pair of arms, three small spikes exited his shoulders, and another two on the forearms and exiting all four his elbows was a long, sharp, red crystal. His face had four green eyes, and from the top of his head was three small crystals, that gave the appearance of horns. He wore black pants then went from the waist down to his two-toed feet and a black vest with a wide green stripe. Around his waist was a green and white band that held the glowing green Omnitrix symbol.
"Minions to me!" Eon ordered and soon enough three dozen of Eon's troops encircled the crime-fighting duo, weapons ready. The area was dead silent as the two sides stared each other down, neither making a move.
Ben was the first to attack, jumping high into the air with the aid of strong legs, and sent a flurry of red crystal shards in all directions. Some hit their mark, impacting the enemy combatants, sending them back, while others became lodged into the ground. The ones that weren't hit, opened fire on Ben and Rook, the later deploying a 360-degree shield that blocked all of the energy blasts but still allowed him to shoot his targets with the proto-tool. Due to being very heavy, upon impact with the ground, Diamond-Arms created a shockwave that uplifted the ground and knocked all of the remaining soldiers to the ground.
"You handle the stragglers, I'll deal with head honcho over there," Ben told Rook, before running off to face Eon.
"Great," Rook commented sarcastically, "leave me with a fight of one against 25."
"Who said you it was one?" a voice came far that Rook recognised all too easily as Kevin. He and Gwen were running up the road towards him. "Sorry, we're late, got stuck in some traffic on the way here. You know how it is."
"Let's just finish this quickly, I was hoping to have a chilled-out day today," Gwen commented, shifting to her Anodite superhero attire. Kevin's form began to grow and disfigure as he changed into his mutated alien form (A/N: OV version).
"Time for some fun," the Osmosian commented as he cracked his knuckles and charged forward like a gorilla, mowing down all in his path.
Gwen shot forth multiple bands of Mana, trapping five of the troops, before tossing them around like ragdolls and slamming them into the ground, knocking them unconscious. She looked over to Kevin, who had dealt with the majority of the enemies through a variety of means, be it electrocution, via gravity manipulation, making them so heavy that they couldn't move or trapping them in a cage made of what very much looked like giant Lego bricks.
"You wanna fill us in on what going on here?" Kevin questioned in a distorted voice.
"Eon's planning on sending Ben to a barren wasteland since destroying him would cause all of the other variations of him to cease to exist," Rook explained, placing his primary weapon back on his shoulder.
"I guess that makes sense," Gwen noted, "since Ben is the original version."
"Wonder how he's doing," Kevin commented.
…
Eon was not having an easy time against Ben's latest fusion, Rathwolfer. The combination of sheer strength and agility meant that every attack the alien made hurt and he backed away before any counter strike could be made. He tried to blast him with the time ray and with his universal portal gun, but he was quick enough on his paws to evade every shot. He even tried to teleport behind his opponent or into his blind spot but every time, Rathwolfer's heightened senses would alert him to the assault and he would either move out of the way or counter with his attack. He managed to get the odd hit in here and there, but this only aggravated the Appoboan further.
Rathwolfer split his mouth and sent out a sonic howl into Eon's chest, sending him into the side of the building and left a high pitch ringing in his ears.
"Let me tell you something alternate version of Ben Tennyson that calls himself Eon," Rathwolfer shouted as he approached his opponent, "Rathwolfer loves a fight and you better get up to give Rathwolfer that fight or Rathwolfer will get bored!" It was always quite a sight when Ben fought as Rath or some version of him, always flamboyant in the way he fought and spoke, starting nearly every sentence with his titular phrase 'let me tell you something…'.
Eon refused to back down, even with most of his black and purple armour having cracks and broken-off parts. From his left forearm, a two-foot curved purple hook-blade extended and impaled the ground at his feet.
"I always have something up sleeve," Eon remarked, "literally in this case." Immediately, he completed a wide vertical slash, one which Ben was only just able to evade as he saw the blade caught the end of his tail, cutting off some the fur. "I improved on the last design since your future-self destroyed the previous one." Eon thrust his fist forward causing the blade to the dart in the same direction on some sort of chain. The small opening caught Rathwolfer's right arm and Eon pulled his arm back, bringing the blade and the fused alien with it. Once he was within striking range, Eon sent a hard-right jab to the alien's face, forcing him to send out a cat-like squeal. Eon withdrew his blade and typed a few commands into his gauntlet, so he could finally send Ben where he wanted him to be and allowing him to enact the rest of his plan. He was about to open the universal portal when a stray bolt of orange energy struck the panel, causing it to go haywire and send out random electric bursts.
From afar, Rook was kneeling behind some rubble that fallen and had his Proto-tool resting atop of it, transformed into its sniper mode. "And that is why I am the best shooter in this sector," he gloated at Kevin, who had shifted back to normal.
"YOU IGNORANT FOOL!" Eon shouted, staring between Rook and his gauntlet. "Do you know what you've done?!"
"Stopped you?" Kevin sarcastically spoke, as the trio made their way over to Eon and Ben, the later who had just got up off of his knees.
Almost immediately, Eon couldn't control the sudden outbursts of energy that were emanating from the gauntlet. Each stream of blue energy gave way to another swirling blue vortex, a portal that leads to another Earth in the infinite Multiverse.
Ben, realising that this form wouldn't be very useful in trying to disarm the device, slammed the Omnitrix that lay in his waist. In his place, the eight-foot-tall form of Chromastone stood.
"Eon. Shut. It. Down!" Ben demanded, getting closer and closer to his opponent, hoping he could find some way of shutting it off. Because of this form's natural immunity to electrical attacks and the ability to absorb energy, Ben was able to get within arm's reach of the sparking device easily, and once he grabbed it with his crystalline hand, he ripped it off Eon's arm, tossed it to the ground and crushed it underfoot. In the process, Ben launched a punch directly into Eon's face, knocking him out instantly. "There we go, problem solved," Chromastone voiced, looking over his teammates, then back down to his rival. "Now then, I think it's time to get you back to the hole you crawled out from."
"I'll contact the nearest plumber unit to him back to his cell in the Null Void. I'll also get someone to clean up the damage his forces caused and collect all of Eon's forces," Rook spoke, grabbing his communicator.
"Speaking of, where are they?" Gwen asked curiously, looking around but couldn't see any of the Eon's soldiers.
"They probably just teleported back to where they came from," Kevin answered.
"They'll be here in a few minutes," Rook announced before looking around at the surrounding area, "we just need to figure out to about these portals."
"I wonder where they all lead," Kevin proposed.
Gwen's attention was brought away from the swirling vortexes to a small flash that was emanating from behind Chromastone's form. "Uhm Ben, that wasn't flashing before, was it?" a slightly surprised mien fell upon her face.
"What?" Chromastone uttered, a confused look on his face. He turned around and noticed the ball of light that was barely contained in the broken gauntlet. He went over for a better look, but at the same time, the energy core rapidly expanded, releasing a violent shockwave then sent everything around it, that wasn't tied down, flying. Rook, Gwen and Kevin were sent backwards, off their feet, slamming harm into the nearest building. Not knowing that the blast was going to occur, Chromastone couldn't attempt absorbing the energy, so even he was sent off his heels. However, his trajectory did not line up with that of a building, his path had him flying directly through one of the portals that Eon had opened.
"WOOOAAAHHHH!" he yelled as he entered the swirling vortex, disappearing from view.
"BEN!" Gwen, Kevin and Rook shouted in unison.
The excess energy from the blast evaporated after a few moments, allowing the trio to safely sprint over. They made their way to the site, but all of the portals had closed as if nothing was ever there in the first place.
"W-w-where did he go?" Gwen inquired, shocked clearly present in her voice.
"I… don't… know," Kevin answered hesitantly, still trying to figure out what had just happened. "But I can think of one person who might," looking over the form of Eon, who was beginning to stir. Quicker than both Gwen and Rook could see, Kevin picked Eon up by the scruff of his collar and held him up against the wall. "I'm not in the mood Eon, so make it easy for yourself and tell us where Ben is," the Osmosian demanded aggressively.
Eon said nothing except for letting out a rather long chuckle, but no one was in the mood for games.
"This is funny to you?" Rook interrogated.
"Even if I did know where he went, why should I tell you?" Eon retorted, "so you can go save your so-called 'hero of heroes'? You four act as though you better than all of those you save, but you are not. When a real crisis comes, you will all act the same."
Kevin had had enough of his blabbering, so he threw him to the ground. "What do we do now?"
"I am… unsure," Rook spoke begrudgingly. "Gwen?" both males turned to her.
Gwen was lost in thought, trying to figure out what their best course of action was. She let out a sigh before saying her mind, "I… I think we should deal with this first. Take Eon back to prison and get this area cleaned up. Let's make sure everyone is alright, that's what Ben would want us to do."
"You sure?" Kevin argued calmly.
"Yeah. Ben will be fine. Wherever he is, he'll be able to handle it," Gwen replied firmly before smirking, "come on, he might be a pain in the ass sometimes, but when has he ever not been able to deal with a situation like this?!"
(Earth 38 – National City * Early Afternoon)
The other end of the swirling blue vortex had opened a few feet off the ground in a small park in the middle of National City. Chromastone tumbled out of the portal, rolling several times on the freshly cut grass before coming to a halt.
"Well, I've had harder landings," the alien commented before getting to his feet and dusted himself of any dirt and mud that was stuck to his form. He surveyed his surroundings and saw green areas, trees, clouded blue skies and tall skyscrapers and thought 'I'm gonna guess this is not what Eon had in mind when he said 'world of no escape', seems rather peaceful.' He also noticed that the portal that brought him here had disappeared, meaning he was stuck on an Earth that wasn't his own. "I'm definitely not in Kansas anymore," he quiped.
He figured he'd make the best of a bad situation and look around to see if there was anyone that could help him in his current predicament. He hit the Omnitrix symbol just below his right shoulder, reverting to human form so he wouldn't scare any of the local populous as a walking, talking crystal mine.
He started walking towards the concrete jungle and made it about 10 metres before something caught his attention, or rather someone. There was a sudden rush of wind behind him, not strong enough to push him off his feet, but enough for him to feel. He turned around behind but couldn't see anyone until he looked up and saw a blonde woman clad in red and blue spandex, a massive "S" across her chest and sporting a cape floating in mid-air. Anyone else would have been shocked to be standing face to face with the Girl of Steel, but given what he could do, it wasn't all that surprising.
"Uuhhhh, hi?" he spoke curiously, waving his hand at her.
A/N: There you have it, chapter 1 of CW: Ben 10. Thought I would leave it in an interesting place for the next chapter.
What did you think of it?
I know I didn't include much about this being in the UK, but what do think about Ben 10 being based in the UK?
I haven't figured out the specifics of how everything will change with a British setting, but it should make things interesting. This is where I would like some help from you guys. If you are from the UK and would like to contribute an idea or two for the world-building, I would appreciate it. If you think of something, just drop me a PM. If I happen to include your idea in the story, I'll make sure to give you guys a shout out.
Let me know if you would like to see certain events or story arcs changed for a British setting. If yes, I'll do those as one-shots separately.
Also, who do picture as a live-action version of Ben Tennyson? Let me know who see fitting the role.
I'll see you guys in chapter 2 of the story.
