((an: Yes im aware that i have a habit of writing fanfics and dropping them no i do NOT intend to stop but at least i am semi obsessed with Fortuna/The Cosmosdex so who knows this may be less 'hypersporadic updates for a year and then officially dropped' and more'sporadic updates forever'!))
Space is big. Usually. Normally in Fortuna it's just big enough for whats needed. An adventure or ten, enough room for the various gods to decide who's guts they hate and spread out, and enough that even in freeroam mode it won't feel like nothing BUT a videogame. Then there are mods. Some are fine additions to the game, simply adding species that would normally break rules, others getting rid of problematic features, some more sadistic ones adding in all new implements to torture the AI gods trapped within. The one that [She] was working on however was a rather peculiar set. First, the [Entities] mod. Simply adds in creatures and monsters from a web serial [She] had read, giving powers to those suffering, and also had a chance to turn earth into the setting FROM the serial, Worm. Secondly, the [N-owPC's] one. That was quite a lot harder and somewhat on the more sadistic side. Simply put? It let her give npc's player access. Typically, it took the form of a computer, like hers. [She] gave it to an npc, they could make characters or play games, and more importantly, get patrons.
Typically, [She] just let it go as it did, but whenever an npc's game wandered near where that npc WAS... Well, that was when [She] watched like a hawk. Seeing their patrons try and explain the coincidences away, keep all the plates spinning, hi-larious, [She] believed. Then, an idea. Combine the mods! Give someone on earth a computer from the mod, set it to just make characters, see how long it takes before someone realizes something fucky is going on and the web of lies comes crashing down. Could be neat! [She] set it to force that type of generation, and took aim, and swung. Her avatar batted it across the code, smiling as wide as the one pulling the strings, as the blindingly bright light flew through, and soon...

... I felt something hit my chest. Ow. It knocked me back into the... Hospital bed? Right... Oh god that. That locker with the filth and- bugs and- No! Not thinking about it, nope, not at all NO. I looked down, to see just what hit me... An odd laptop, with a black symbol engraved on the back... I opened it up, and saw a loading screen? It seemed to be some sort of game. Plenty of 'locked options', which i found confusing. Load game, sure why not... Well the one save file with a game in it also being locked is why not. Soon, a nurse came in, and saw me, soon rushing to get my dad. A somewhat... Happy greeting later, and then an angry conversation on the phone with the school later, and i was getting discharged. Thankfully. The entire experience was like a blur, with how exhausted i was... I laid down in bed, closed my eyes... And felt a thump. That... Laptop again.
Once was a nice gift. Twice was odd. I opened it again, same locked options as usual, and this time selected 'new game'. And promptly screamed as a plain grey figure suddenly appeared RIGHT NEXT TO ME, some weird menu behind it. Dad rushed in soon after, looking ready to fight at least. "Honey what- Oh god who is that?!" He asked... The figure just stayed still... I closed the laptop, slowly, and it all dissapeared... Reopened it, and it reappeared... "Am... Am i a cape?!" I was shocked... I always wanted to be, but i never thought i'd actually have a trigger event... Still, somewhere in my mind, i got the impression of someone with a mile wide chesire cat grin, laughing her head off...
