The Crumbling Orb EPISODE II: Fall of Hegemony

Two days have passed since Ken and Eto joined Aizen and the now resurrected Serenity. A coming galactic invasion is on its way but first, there are a few loose ends to tie up before they figure out what to do about the coming invasion.

They and their new friends have joined a small fleet that is apart of the Galactic Federation Triumvirate under the command of Admiral Decorus, their boss.

The Federation has received word of some trouble going on at the planet Khar'shan, the Batarian homeworld. This is one of a few loose ends to tie up.

Chapter 1:

Ken woke up and then quickly sat up breathing heavily.

He was sweating and came out of a strange nightmare.

"Are you okay?" Serenity asked him who was nearby reading a few datapads sitting on the floor.

"I had a strange dream, like people were becoming mindless drones and climbing all over me." Ken said wiping the sweat off his forehead.

Serenity threw him over a towel on the nearby rack and he caught it rubbing it along his forehead.

"What are you doing?" Ken asked.

"I'm looking at different datapads with their codex on some knowledge I need to learn. I guess Batarians still hold a slight grudge toward humans." Serenity said.

"Oh yeah, today we go down to the planet." Ken said getting out of the bed.

Ken sat down beside her and took a look at one of the datapads.

"So do I call you my great great-" Ken began to say.

Serenity grinned at him and pushed him over making him chuckle.

"Just Serenity." Serenity said.

"Do you really not know what happened after you died?" Ken asked.

"I don't, probably a side effect that is you don't remember the afterlife. Why it's called faith." Serenity told him.

"What is the last thing you remember?" Ken asked.

"I died in my father's arms." Serenity said.

Ken looked at her and felt sad.

"Hey, don't give me that look." Serenity told him.

"I'm sorry. What age were you when you died?" Ken asked.

"My mid-forties." Serenity said.

They both heard the announcement that they were to head to the bridge.

"Well, let's go see Admiral handsome shall we?" Serenity said.

"I'm surprised at how many women just stare at him." Ken said.

"Well he's very handsome and he's a very young admiral to crew many ages of people. No wonder most of his crew are all women, they all wanted to get to look at him. He was blessed to look so hot." Serenity said.

The two walked together down halls passing technicians and guards.

"We have to take a shuttle out of this cruiser to the ship Admiral Decorus is at." Serenity said.

The two walked into the small hanger on the frigate they were on and the Turian pilot soared it out of the hanger.

Admiral Decorus's fleet was orbiting over the planet Khar'shan. His fleet consisted of: Three Nebula-class star destroyers, three Endurance-class fleet carriers, three Quarian cruisers, one Quarian liveship, one Turian cruiser, and several hundred starfighter squadrons.

They headed to one of the Nebula-class star destroyers landing into the only hanger which was a small hanger below the ship.

They got off and walked toward the nearby elevator and entered.

"So, you and Eto speak lately?" Serenity asked.

"I wave often. She tried to kill me you know." Ken said.

"Didn't stop you from checking her out when she walked passed you yesterday." Serenity said with a smirk.

"You saw that?" Ken asked blushing.

"Look just ask her out for a coffee or something." Serenity said.

"I'd rather not. I still don't fully trust her." Ken said.

"There is no backstory on her, I would be cautious too but perhaps you'll learn more if you ask her for a coffee." Serenity said.

"Maybe. I don't know." Ken said.

The elevator door opened.

"Think about it." Serenity told him.

The two walked into the bridge of the ship and was saluted by several technicians.

Approaching them was a young handsome looking man with dark combed hair and stunning blue eyes. Every female on the bridge that he worked with was standing or sitting looking at him with blushed faces.

"I am Admiral Decorus." Decorus said.

Ken and Serenity looked around surprised by the women for a moment before quickly paying attention to Decorus.

"Nice to finally meet you." Serenity said.

Ken shook his hand.

"I just met the others and they are preparing to go planetside." Decorus said.

Decorus walked to the holo monitor nearby and pointed to it.

"I will have the pilot take you two down to one of the cities on Khar'shan. The Batarian government doesn't want but your group on the planet and you will be supervised by someone from their government. We do not want to provoke them." Decorus said.

"Of course." Serenity said.

"Your friend Aizen didn't like it that I am in charge of all of you but he will have to accept it. Director Jarun Tann issued it. He might be grumpy about me so if he complains about me, just take it as a grain of salt." Decorus said.

"To be honest I thought I was going to lead this." Serenity said.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you two." Decorus said.

Decorus looked at his female deck officers and technicians.

"Can one of you-" Decorus began to say.

All of the women ran up and awaited his order.

"One of you." Decorus repeated.

None of them moved.

Decorus sighed with his head going down.

"How about I walk them to the airlock. The Normandy should be still docked here. The Ebon Hawk left to the planet fifteen minutes ago." Decorus said.

The women pouted but still gazed at Decorus with blushing faces.

Ken and Serenity followed Decorus.

"I noticed no men are working on this ship." Ken said.

"For some reason I only had women enlist." Decorus said.

"And... you don't know why?" Serenity asked.

"No." Decorus said.

Serenity mumbled something about him being very naive about what was going on with the women.

"Here we are." Decorus said looking out the window to see the Normandy still docked.

Decorus typed on the console and the airlock door opened to the long bridge to the Normandy's airlock.

Decorus walked them to the Normandy and knocked on the door.

The door slid open and they walked inside.

"Admiral on deck!" Joker shouted on the intercom.

"I am just here to escort miss Serenity and mister Ken here." Decorus said.

"Aye, sir." Joker said saluting and the pilot chair spun back in position as he was starting up the Normandy.

"So what are we to expect?" Serenity asked.

"Aizen has all the info but I'll make it brief. There is an unknown female with white hair and white silver eyes. She is wearing a white robe of sorts and we were told she is causing some havoc in this one city on Khar'shan. She is accompanied by two other females that we got names and faces of. One is a girl from Balmorra named Caeruleo Rubrum. She has red hair, her left eye is blue and her right eye is red with red eye shadow. Then the other girl is from Noveria named Marie Kanker. She has blue hair, both eyes are grey with blue eye shadow." Decorus told them.

Ken was typing it on his notepad and put it in his bag after getting a quick description of all three.

"Alright, we will meet with Aizen and see what we can do." Serenity said.

"This is one of a few loose ends we need to take care of. Once we help the Batarians they will consider joining the Federation and we will need their help if the threat that's coming is as great as we think it is." Decorus said.

"We won't fail." Ken said.

Decorus gave them a salute and walked onto the airlock bridge and the Normandy airlock door shut.

"Alright, everyone ready?" Joker asked.

Serenity and Ken strapped in on the two seats beside Joker.

"Head down." Serenity said.

Walking in was Karura and Itachi.

Karura handed tapioca to Serenity with a soft pat on her shoulder.

Serenity was a bit startled but calmed seeing it was Karura and took the drink sipping through the straw with a slight blush on her face.

Ken looked at that and smiled.

"Why didn't you go with Aizen's group in the Ebon Hawk?" Serenity asked Itachi and Karura.

"Because someone has to watch Jessica who's on this ship." Itachi said.

"I take it she still wants to kill him?" Ken asked.

They all looked to one another and knew the answer to that without even saying it.

The Normandy headed down to Khar'shan.
