It was a beautiful Tuesday morning in early September at about eight-thirty. My dad screamed so loud that the whole street could hear (which due to our lack of nice neighbors was bad).
"Breakfast!" he yelled.
"Coming!" I screamed back. I sprinted out of the room, turned the corner to the stairs, and slid down the railing.
"Sam," said my mom. "What did I say about sliding down the stairs?"
"To not," I said.
"Good," said my mom. "Now let's have a nice breakfast. Your dad worked hard to make pancakes and bacon."
"Okay," said my two-year-old sister Clara. "Okay" was her first word. Now she can say my name and short sentences. She was already sitting in her high chair and my mom took the seat on her left.
"Fine," said Harold my eight-year-old brother. He is always angry at something. I guess my sister calling him "Hair Man" doesn't help. He then left one seat between him and Clara that my dad took after giving us our plates.
"Guess what?" I said as I took the remaining seat between Harold and my mom. "Some owl was flying around last night. And get this, he was holding a stack of papers.
"That's just wrong," said Harold. "Just like your face."
"Okay," I said. "That's it." I gave him am "little" slap on the back.
"Harold never say!" my mom angrily screamed. "And Sam, actually that's fair."
"You know," said my dad. "That owl might be from that book that you are reading, Harry Potter."
"I wish," I said. "I would love to go to Hogwarts." Then I muttered under my breath, "So I can get away from this heck."
"Good luck with that," said Harold. "A place that dumb can't exist."
"Well you exist," I said. "And you're 'that dumb' plus more."
"Sa-" my mom started but was interrupted by a knock, knock at the door.
Me and my parents got up to see who it was. They opened the door and the owl from last night was there. He only had one piece of paper with him now. He dropped it on my then left. I took a look at it and it was a letter, addressed to me!
I opened it and it read:
Dear Sam Sobon
It is with my pleaser to tell you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry. We have all of the stuff that you need at the school. I will explain why you were chosen when you arrive. Just touch the mark on the bottom of the paper and you will arrive at Kings Cross Station. I understand that you have read the Harry Potter books so you will know what to do. Some of the stuff in the books was fake but some were real. I hope that you will come.
Albus Dumbledore
