Echo Jones is perched underneath a giant oak tree in all black clothing. Her blue green eyes were on the notepad in her lap. She moved the pen in her palms back and forth in deep thought on what to write following suit. She's down by sweetwater river where she is agreed to meet her splendid boyfriend of three years. She hadn't ever been too serious about being in a relationship with an older male until the start of her freshman year.
She chewed on her pen as her thoughts for her article trailed off. She was doing a bit of investigating on a particular school teacher which had her in frowns. She had been following Ms. Grundy solely because the woman told her she couldn't be in the music class. She wanted to show the woman she had a great vocal range. Sighing, she had followed the woman's car all the way down to the river, but had been unable to catch the music teacher going off into the woods by the riverbank.
She didn't want to be nosy so she sat down, recieving a text from her lovely boyfriend. A smile took over her pale features- one to meet her blue green eyes. Her chocolate brown curls fell in waves as a small musical laugh came from the girl. Her life was going good at the moment. She decided on shutting her notebook than stuffing it into her backpack as she tugged the sleeves of her black long sleeve down.
Her wrists couldn't be seen nor could her pale, petite legs which were covered by pitch black jeans. Her feet fir comfortably into black combat boots which always made her smile upon first waking up in the mornings. Her half brother is non-other than Jughead Jones so she really slept anywhere he went. Mostly for protection. Standing up, she stretched her limbs into the beautiful blue eyes- believing the day was going to be a good one.
"Echo, here I am!" A melodious tone softly calls a bit above a whisper. A seventeen year old boy with a crooked smile came into view. His chestnut brown hair was blowing in the wind with happy light grey eyes. He stood about five foot eleven which was taller than the petite girl.
He was slim in his figure with caramel coated features. He came from a Hawaiian background with another unknown mix. He stood with one hand in his blue jeans pocket as the other held vibrant red roses. He wore a black leather jacket over a simple white tee shirt as a smile lit up his features at the sight of his muse.
"JD!" Echo accidentally blurts, walking forth to throw her arms around him. Her lips were quick to melt into his with such passion her breath was taken away. Her heartbeat sped up at the handsome boy she could see a future with. She'd never desire another in every way; the way she did him. She'd never been so happy to be with someone.
"Babygirl, slow it down. We don't want to rush. You're still young." JD chuckles, gently grazing her bottom lip with his teeth. He felt the passion between then, but was in no hurry to push her into anything mature.
Instead, JD could wait as long as it would take to be sure she was ready.
"Everyday with you is always new. I love you, JD." Echo gingerly rushes, pulling away to rest her forehead against his. She didn't talk to a lot of people in the small, quiet, qauint town of Riverdale. She only had Jughead who didn't talk often since he too was a loner.
"I love you too, Echo." JD says, booping her nose with a light poke of his finger. He never wanted to lose the girl of his dreams. He gestures to a bright blue pickup truck which was rusted.
"Ooh, where are we going?" Echo asks, picking up her dark backpack to follow the boy to his truck.
"First, we're meeting Izzy at the mall for lunch. He has this cool idea for a song you'd like plus I want to take my girl shopping for the new year. Then, we'll go to the movies." JD grins as Echo lights up.
Echo hadn't seen her best friend since summer begun. "How is he holding up?"
"He's alive." JD opens the truck door for her to hop into the vehicle.
Echo climbs in with so much enthusiasm, pounding in her heart. She didn't know things were about to change. She had been best friends with Izzy Andrews since Fred Andrews adopted the boy who refused to open up with anyone. Of course, when she met him- he wouldn't quit following her around like a puppy. She was the first person the youngest Andrews boy did open up to.
...
Izzy Andrews sipped his soda at the food court. He asked to meet his best friend and her boyfriend out of town. His bright blue eyes were stone cold with anger. His chocolate brown curls were a mess. He was tall, lanky, and all too calculating for the simple age of thirteen.
He had a sunkist complexion while choosing to always dress fancy. He wore a dark red knit sweater with dark blue jeans, and converse sneakers. His scowl was directed to the entryway of the mall. He swore to make JD pay for all the older male had done to him. He thought he was a good guy at first until he not only stole his best friend, but his dignity from him.
He was going to see to it that Echo Jones knew the truth about the monster her boyfriend is.
Echo bounded into the mall with JD's arm snaked around her waist.
Izzy saw the happiness radiating off of his best friend who easily spotted him from a mile away. He waved at the giddy girl, wondering if he should tell her. Guilt washed over him- knowing he wouldn't kill that smile. He wouldn't do that to someone who meant the world to him.
"Isaiah, long time, no talk!" Echo shouts, slumping down into a chair across from the boy.
"I told you not to call me that!" Izzy hisses as his grumpy mood shifts to one of a good nature.
JD rakes a hand in his hair. He sits beside his girlfriend, slinging an arm around her shoulder. "It's your first name, right?"
"Yes, it is his first name." Echo helpfully points out.
Izzy sighed, rolling his eyes. As much as he didn't want anything to do with JD- he couldn't tell him to bugger off.
"Would you like me to use your full name instead of JD?" Izzy asked in a threatening manner.
JD frowns at the question. He'd rather Izzy leave well enough alone. Sighing, he shrugged. "I can see where you're coming from so no. I'm sorry, Izzy."
Izzy snaps his gaze from Echo to JD. He can see the apologetic gaze in his grey eyes. He notes that it wouldn't be there for long. Not when he was finished slandering the boy.
"Sorry isn't good enough." Izzy said, getting up to slink off.
Echo rose a curious eyebrow. She knew Izzy and JD weren't the best of friends, but couldn't he at least try to make good with JD for the time? Her eyes turn to JD, "why does he hate you so much?"
JD nonchalantly shrugs, taking a sip of the soda Izzy left behind. A frown took hold of his features as he turned to his girlfriend. "I do have something I need to tell you, but you can't hate me for it. It meant absolutely nothing to me."
Echo grew worried about what he wanted to tell her. Did he cheat on her with someone else? She tried not to push the issue or get overwhelmed as she inhaled sharply. She nodded her head for her boyfriend to continue. "I'm all ears, babydoll."
JD cracked a grin at the nickname which meant she wasn't angry at him. Or so he was hoping. He went on to reveal to her what he was hoping wouldn't scare her off. He saw her forehead crease with worry and a bit of confusion at the beginning of his explanation. If she truly did love him then he knew they'd be able to get whatever life tossed their way.
Echo wasn't sure how to feel upon learning what she did.
