A/N Just the start of a story that has been floating in my head. No beta reader. Sorry for any mistakes. Thanks for reading.

Prologue

Despite what many believed, the Unspeakable's were not chosen by the Minister of Magic, nor did they answer to him or her. They didn't answer to the Auror's, the Wizengamot, the Board of Governors, or any of the Most Ancient and Honorable Houses. Sure, they worked with them and definitely made others believe that they were working for them, but the Unspeakable's only answered to one: Lady Magic.

Long before any of the Unspeakable's displayed their first wisp of magic, they had been chosen by her to be one of her warriors. No matter what names the groups of witches and wizards had gone by in the past, she always saw them as her warriors. She blessed them because she alone knew what was in their hearts and what they were capable of. She knew that she would be asking a lot from them so she needed to ensure they were strong of magic and character. From the moment she blessed her warriors, they knew that they were destined for greatness. She watched all of her wizards and witches but these warriors she guided more closely. There were some though, some that she paid even closer attention to and protected just a bit more since she knew they were needed for the most dangerous of missions. One such person was Severus Snape.

Severus had known he was a wizard since he was barely three years old. He never saw much magic since his mother was forbidden to use it by his father. But on a dark night, as he lay on his bed, which was nothing more than a mattress on the floor with several blankets and pillows, he was visited by the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She explained to him that he was a wizard and she was Lady Magic. He hadn't understood much of what she said at the time, but she visited often and was always a great source of comfort.

When it was his time to go to Hogwarts, he had already known that he was to be one of her warriors. She guided him towards those that would help lead him in the direction that he needed to go. She wasn't able to tell him everything he needed to know about the future but she did tell him that his destiny wouldn't be an easy road. He would be angry with her at times (which he didn't believe but did curse her a few times as he got older and her comforting embrace always caused him to beg for forgiveness). At 17, he took the Dark Mark. At 22, he vowed to keep his ex-best friends son safe and became a spy. But no matter the marks that marred his skin or the vows that were demanded from him, his loyalty was only to Lady Magic herself.
