Title: Dreams Do Come True

Summary: Sequel to my one-shot "Surprise". With their college graduation behind them, Kim and Tommy can focus on their dream wedding, then their future with their 8-month-old daughter, Ainsley. But are dreams really what they seem? Will their trip to the altar be smooth sailing or disaster?

Tommy and Kim's Apartment, Angel Grove

May 29, 2001

2 pm

Kim, Aisha, Trini, Tanya, Kat, and Carrie were all at the kitchen table putting the wedding favors for the wedding guests together when a cry could be heard through the baby monitor that Kim had fastened to her hip.

"Oh! That's Ainsley! She just woke up from her nap. I'll be right back," Kim said as she went to Ainsley's bedroom.

When Kim got to the bedroom, Ainsley was whining, pulling at her diaper. Kim lifted the baby from her crib and laid her on the changing table. Kim changed Ainsley's diaper like she had it memorized and put some fresh clothes on her. Then Kim carried her to the living room.

"Hey girls, look who's all fresh from her nap!" Kim said as she put Ainsley in her pack and play.

"Hey baby girl! You look so cute in that outfit that me and the girls got you!" Aisha said as the girls nodded. Ainsley squealed, loving the sound her Auntie Aisha made when she gushed about Ainsley to the girls.

"Okay, let's get the rest of the favors made, because we have to get ready to go out on the town for Kim's last week as a bachelorette!" Carrie said as the girls started to cheer.

"Please, girls, go easy on me. I have a fiancé and an 8-month-old daughter to come home to and I need to be in one piece in order to be useful to them," Kim pleaded.

Aisha shook her head no.

"Uh, no, girl. You are not getting off that easy. Me and Trini have been planning your bachelorette party since high school, and college, so you are going to get down and dirty tonight! You got me?" Aisha asked seriously.

"I got you," Kim said as she glanced at Ainsley, who smiled her goofy smile, which made Kim's heart melt.

Kim knew that Jason, Zack and Rocky had a similar evening planned for Tommy, so she wasn't too scared about what would happen.

You should be concerned. These are our friends we're talking about; she could almost hear Tommy scolding her.

How much trouble can a bunch of post-collegiate kids get into?" Kim found herself answering back.

"A lot," Tommy whispered in Kim's ear as he came into the apartment.

"Sometimes that link we have is a curse instead of a blessing," Kim said kissing her fiancé.

"I don't know. I kind of like it," Tommy said as the girls said hi and waved.

Ainsley was twirling around in her pack and play, excited to see her father.

"Hey, Ains! Were you a good girl for Mommy?" Tommy asked the little girl. Ainsley squealed.

"Yes, she was!" Kim said tickling the little girl. Ainsley squealed again.

"My mom and your mom are babysitting tonight. They wanted to spend some time with their granddaughter before the wedding," Tommy said. Kim and Tommy talked about who was going to watch Ainsley while they were having a wild night on the town. At the last minute the two grandmothers wanted to double team on babysitting Ainsley for the night.

"Oh, that's good news! When are they coming over?" Kim asked.

"Seven o' clock," Tommy said.

"Okay. I'll send the girls to Trini and Jason's to get ready, and we'll get ready here," Kim said.

"I think that's our cue to leave," Aisha said as she and the girls said their goodbyes and left.

Kim and Tommy decided to curl up on the couch with Ainsley to watch a Disney movie.

7:30 pm

Kim got into Trini's car and buckled her seatbelt.

"So, where are we off to?" Kim asked.

"Shh, I can't spoil the surprise," Trini said.

"On second thought, I don't want to know," Kim said after seeing Trini's wicked grin.

Oh man, this night is going to be so unpredictable, Kim heard herself say.

You're telling me? I'm scared to think about what the guys have planned for me, Tommy answered back.

Damn it, stupid link! Kim said to herself.

"You okay, Kim?" Trini asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just get me to wherever in one piece, please?" Kim said as Trini nodded.

After what felt like an eternity, Kim and Trini arrived at a nightclub not far from where the reception would be held. Kim saw Aisha and Tanya's cars parked next to a black Mercedes.

"Isn't this…? Kim started to ask.

"Yes, it's The Scene, the hottest nightclub in town,"

"It's the only hottest nightclub in town. How come we haven't been here before?" Kim asked.

"Because we didn't know someone who could get us in," Trini said.

"We still don't know anyone who could get us in," Kim said.

"We do now," Trini said as the owner of the black Mercedes came out and unlocked his car.

"Zack! No way!" Kim said, going up to Zack and giving him a hug.

"Yes, way! My uncle just bought this nightclub a couple of months ago, and I put you ladies on the guest list for tonight. It is my bachelorette party gift to you, Kimberly, so forget about everything for just this once, and have a blast! Don't disappoint me, now!" Zack said getting in his car.

"Where are you going?" Kim asked.

"To watch your lover boy enjoy his last week as a bachelor, of course," Zack said as he waved and drove off, leaving Kim to shake her head as Trini led her inside.

May 30, 2001

10 am

Kim and the girls didn't know how they got into Aisha's parents' house, or even how they got there. Kim thought that Aisha's father drove them back from the nightclub, which was what happened.

Kim woke up to the smell of coffee and sat up on the couch in the basement. The other girls followed. Carrie groaned, feeling the effects of the hangover she had.

"Are you girls still alive?" Kim asked.

"Maybe, if I can get to the medicine cabinet and take some Aspirin," Aisha muttered, attempting to get up.

Just then Aisha's mother came down the steps just as Aisha was going up the steps.

"Looking for this?" Aisha's mother asked. The bottle of Aspirin was on a tray with 6 cups of coffee.

"Yes, I was. Ooh, girls, she brought coffee!" Aisha said as she took a cup.

"Thanks, Mrs. Campbell!" the girls said as they took the cups of coffee, along with the aspirin, and took the aspirin in a couple of gulps.

"You girls must've had a wild night," Mrs. Campbell said.

"Oh, wild can't even describe it," Tanya said.

"I wonder if the guys had more fun than we did," Aisha said.

"Speaking of the guys, Tommy is here to see you, Kim," Mrs. Campbell said.

"But…but…" Kim started to say when Tommy came downstairs.

"But I'm supposed to be wasted just like you girls? Don't think so," Tommy said.

"But I was sure the guys were going to get you wasted, along with each other," Kim said.

"I volunteered to be the designated driver, because Billy got sick and couldn't attend, and because I know I'll have more bachelor parties to attend besides my own, and more opportunities to get wasted, right, Trini?" Tommy asked.

"You don't play fair! Okay, I'll fess up! Jason proposed to me a week ago, and I said yes!" Trini said.

The girls looked at her dumbfounded. After putting two and two together, Kim shrieked and started to hug Trini, jumping up and down.

"I'm so happy for the two of you!" Kim said, as the other girls did the same.

"When's the wedding?" Carrie asked.

"We just got engaged a week ago! Give us some time!" Trini said. Carrie shut up then.

"Kim are you feeling better, because we have to relieve my mom and your mom from babysitting Ainsley," Tommy said.

"I feel better now, let's go!" Kim said smiling at Trini, who smiled back.

Giorgio's Italian Restaurant, Angel Grove

June 4, 2001

7 pm

After Tommy, Kim, and their family and friends finished up the wedding rehearsal, they headed to the best Italian restaurant in town for the rehearsal dinner. After getting a few drinks in them, the group started asking Kim and Tommy questions.

"So, Tommy, Kim, when are you going to have a sibling for Ainsley?" Caroline asked. Tommy choked on his beer.

"Mom, please! We're getting married tomorrow. We'll have all the time in the world to have another child. We just don't want our children too close together in age, like me and Kenny were, and you know how that turned out," Kim said.

"Yeah, you too were a little under a year apart, and that was a little too close for comfort, so I agree with you on that," Caroline said.

"Or maybe they'll have a surprise baby like Ainsley," Tommy's mom, Jan, said.

"Okay, that's not going to happen because I'm not letting my guard down like I did with Ainsley. I'm paying much better attention to my body and its signals, so a little "surprise" baby won't happen again. Besides I went on birth control after Ainsley was born and I make sure Tommy wears a condom every time," Kim said as Tommy choked on his beer again.

"Okay, too much information, but thanks for the visual," Jason said, uncomfortably.

Okay, maybe you've had a little too much to drink, beautiful, Kim heard Tommy say.

You're right, I should lay off the wine now. Plus I don't want you to choke anymore on your beer, handsome, Kim said back.

Thank you, beautiful, Tommy said back, winking at her.

I wish I could disable that link myself, how long before the others find out about it, Kim said to herself, as she told the waiter not to serve her anymore wine.

After the dinner was over, Kim went with Trini to her and Jason's apartment, and Tommy went to Jason's parents' house.

"Jason, make sure Tommy gets to the church on time, please. You know how he is," Kim said.

"You got it, little sis. Don't worry, I got everything under control," Jason said.

"Yeah, sure you do," Kim said as Jason winked at her and went to his car. Kim shook her head as he drove off with her fiancé in tow.

St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Angel Grove

June 5, 2001

1 pm

Kim was pacing the floor. She knew something like this would happen, and that link she and Tommy had would cause a lot of trouble.

Jason came in then.

"Well?!" Kim asked, her voice rising.

"I tried everything to locate him, his cell phone, even called his parents, and they haven't heard from him since last night at the dinner," Jason said.

"You said you had everything under control, and I trusted you!" Kim shouted.

"But, Kim…" Jason said.

"YOU'RE MY BIG BROTHER AND I TRUSTED YOU!" Kim screamed at him.

"Enough, you two! Screaming at him Kimberly is not going to find Tommy sooner. I'm sure Jason will do everything in his power to locate Tommy, just have faith in him," Caroline said.

"Your Mom's right, Kim," Jason said.

Just then Tommy's father came into the bride's room.

"I just got off the phone with Stone Canyon General Hospital. Tommy was in a bad car accident. He has a broken leg which has suffered some arterial damage so he's in surgery now," James said. Kim started to cry. Caroline jumped into action.

"Okay. Jason, make an announcement to the guests that the wedding will be postponed until further notice," Caroline said, then she went over to her daughter.

"How about we get things settled here then head to the hospital, okay?" Caroline assured her daughter. Kim nodded, now holding Ainsley.

After things were settled at the church, Kim, Ainsley, Jason, Billy, Tommy's parents, and Kim's mother, brother, and stepfather made the drive to Stone Canyon to see Tommy.

Stone Canyon General Hospital, Stone Canyon

3 pm

Kim and the rest of hers and Tommy's families were gathered in the surgery waiting area waiting on news about Tommy.

The doctor came in then.

"Mr. Oliver?" the doctor called.

"Yes, how is my son?" James asked.

"Before I begin, I can only speak to the immediate family," the doctor said as he looked at Kim and Ainsley.

"Look here, doctor, this is my son's fiancé and daughter. They were supposed to get married today. Whatever you have to say you can say with her present," James said.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. Okay, Mr. Oliver was involved in a car accident with a pickup truck. It was a hit and run, the driver of the pickup truck took off very quickly, leaving Mr. Oliver to fend for himself. He broke his right leg and there was some arterial damage to it which we had to go in and repair, but most of it is bumps, cuts, and bruises. He came out of surgery with flying colors and is in recovery," the doctor said.

"Can I see him?" Kim asked.

"Yes you may. I'll take you back to see him," the doctor said as Kim handed Ainsley to her mother and went back to the recovery room with the doctor.

When they got to recovery, there was Tommy, lying in a hospital bed with monitors and IV's hooked up to him. The doctor was right, it was just bumps and bruises. His leg was suspended in a sling attached to the top of the bed.

Kim tried to hide her sadness as she smiled at Tommy.

"K…Kim," Tommy said weakly.

"You better have a good excuse for skipping your wedding," Kim said crying.

"Isn't it obvious?" Tommy asked.

"Yeah, it is. How are you feeling?" Kim asked.

"Like I've been hit by a semi," Tommy said.

"That's almost true," Kim said.

"I'm sorry…for abandoning you at the altar. I was…getting your wedding gift," Tommy said.

"It's okay. That gift better be worth it," Kim said.

"It is, trust me. Man, I'm tired. I'm going to go to sleep," Tommy said as he started to fall asleep.

"Sleep tight, handsome," Kim said as she kissed him on the forehead and left the room.

June 6, 2001

10 am

Kim arrived at the hospital in a fresh outfit and newly washed hair. After leaving the hospital shortly after seeing Tommy she took Ainsley home and fed her. After getting some much-needed sleep she headed to the hospital and left Ainsley with her mother.

Kim went straight to Tommy's room and knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" Tommy asked.

"It's me, handsome. Can I come in?" Kim asked.

"Yes, please," Tommy said as Kim came in.

Tommy looked much better than he did last night. He wasn't groggy like he was in recovery. He shaved and washed his hair.

"How are you doing now?" Kim asked.

"Much better than last night. I'm not in that much pain like I was yesterday," Tommy said.

"That's good."

"Kim, we need to talk."

"About what?"

"About the wedding. I have an idea."

"Uh-oh. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"

"It's good, I promise."

"What's your idea?"

"Well, I think we should get married tonight, in the hospital's chapel, instead of rescheduling the wedding for a later date."

"Are you crazy? How can we pull off a wedding in ten hours?"

"I'll make a few phone calls; you can call your mom and the rest of the gang. We can make this happen, trust me."

"Okay. Are you sure we can do this?"

"Kim, we fought putties and monsters in high school, we can pull off a wedding in ten hours."

"Okay, whatever you say," Kim said as she went to call her mom.

"Hello?" Caroline answered.

"Mom, it's me. Me and Tommy decided to get married tonight and I need your help," Kim said.

"What do you need?"

"I need you to bring my wedding dress to the hospital, and dress Ainsley in her dress and bring her with."

"Okay. What time is the wedding?"

"Seven o' clock tonight. I must go make a few phone calls. I'll talk to you later."

"Okay sweetie. See you soon," Caroline said as she hung up.

7 pm

Tommy was seated in a wheelchair at the altar of the hospital's chapel, waiting for his bride to walk down the aisle. Jason and the other guys stood next to him.

The girls walked down the aisle, one by one. Then the wedding march started playing.

Kim started to walk down the aisle with her brother. Everyone stood up as she walked down the aisle.

When Kim and her brother got to the altar he handed her off to Tommy and shook Tommy's hand and sat down.

The justice of the peace cleared his throat.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this woman and this man in holy matrimony. The rings, please," the justice said.

Jason handed him the rings.

"Kimberly Ann Hart, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for better and for worse, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part? Please say I do."

"I do," Kim said as she slid Tommy's wedding ring on his left ring finger.

"Thomas James Oliver, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for better and for worse, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part? Please say I do."

"I do," Tommy said as he slid Kim's wedding ring on her left ring finger.

"Then by the power invested in me by the state of California, I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride," the justice said as Kim and Tommy kissed.

Ainsley started to whine as she reached for her parents. Kim took the baby from her mother and rejoined Tommy at the altar.

"May I proudly introduce to you Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Oliver!" The justice said as Kim and Tommy walked up the aisle.

A few days later Tommy was released from the hospital and joined his new wife and daughter back home, ready to start their new journey together as husband and wife. Their life together was just beginning.

The End
