***The brunette boy leaned against the wall in a dark corner of the hallway. Not really paying attention to his fellow students passing by. Their chatting and laughing was just some sort of irritating noise that would sometimes get annoying.
Most of them were just... well... spoiled kids who turned their noses on him anyway - not that Gavin would care about what they think of him. At best, they were bland and uninteresting.
"Bro." Minor whispered. "Look..."
The sloppy boy with the dyed hair next to him was pretty much the only person Gavin would speak to. But why he couldn't really figure out himself.
A few months back he just seemed to have decided to be this one person to Gavin - the one who would stick around, even if no one else would. He just walked up to him one day and never left since. Maybe because they were both some sort of outsiders.
Gavin because he wanted to and didn't care about what all those douche bags thought of him. (He heard about the rumors of him being a bully and deadbeat when it comes to his grades).
A ruffian in school and a failure outside. Maybe that wasn't too far away from the truth. But who cared anyway?
Minor on the other hand seemed to be an outcast not by his own choice. His unique way of talking to people just doesn't seem to fit in and so most of the fellow students avoided him.
And even though he tried, no one would really want to be his friend. So Minor figured he could hang out with the other unwanted guy...? Gavin was sure he would have left by now - he wasn't really nice to him.
But the boy just wouldn't leave and at some point he stopped trying to make him. After all... it was... nice?... not being alone all the time. (He would never say that out loud though).
He finally looked up and his amber eyes followed Minors down the hallway.
And there she was. This one person that Gavin actually cared about...
... speaking to Adam Carter from biology class. With a grim look Gavin registered her flushing cheeks as the guy leaned in a little further to her.
MC.
"That's not good." He heard Minor mumbling, but he said nothing. Clenching his teeth, he sneaked another look through his eyelashes.
The girl's face was getting redder and redder. And then she nodded.
"Dude, that guy is trouble." Minor added shaking his head.
"So?" Gavin's voice was rough as always. Trying to give away the vibe that he doesn't care. Which usually, he doesn't. But Minor knew better.
When it came to MC, his friend definitely did care. A lot. The fact that he tried to hide just made Minor more sure about it.
"Are you gonna let that little piece of crab steal your girl?"
He recognized how Gavin's biceps tensed, and he leaned over him - threatening.
"What-" he looked around if someone heard something but none of the students were paying attention to the boys. "-do you even talk about?! That's-"
He looked back at MC and Adam and his heart sunk into his stomach so it appeared.
"-none of my business. And non of yours. Don't spread any rumors, do you understand?" he hissed and the other boy shock his head disappointed. How could Gavin not accept it? He definitely might had a shoot at MC!
But first he would need to admit his feelings to himself. They looked into each others eyes - trying to make their opponent snap.
After a few seconds it was Minor of course who lowered his head and broke the eye contact.
"Alright man... Whatever you say."
He turned around and started walking off to class and after a few moments the brown-haired boy followed slowly.
What does Minor think anyway? He and doing something about this? How could he? If MC likes that stupid guy he couldn't possibly do anything...
Gavin looked over his shoulder again. Adam was gone, but MC still stood there - now with another, blonde girl wearing the dark blue school uniform.
He saw her pink cheeks and shiny brown eyes as she talked to her friend. Both started to giggle and then went off in the opposite direction.
It's would be better for her anyway to stay away from him. After all... he was a failure and a screw-up.***
