This is the rewrite of Rise of Darkness.
A young boy ran frantically through the rainy forest, almost slipping on the many puddles that covered the forest floor to escape. He ran without a care as to where he was headed. In the boy's arms was the bloodied form of an injured riolu who had a massive slash down it's stomach.
Behind them, an eerie howl could be heard through the heavy rain which drenched the forest, which caused the boy to run faster. He had only two things on his mind. Getting away from his pursuers, and getting medical help for the riolu in his arms. It had gotten injured when it jumped in the way of a blow that would have probably killed the boy, and had he had been only a few inches forward, the blow would have killed him. But he had gotten lucky.
The boy was exhausted, but he couldn't, wouldn't stop until he and his pokemon were safe. He couldn't let Lucky's sacrifice to save him be in vain. The poor old stoutland had jumped to protect him, and had been brutally murdered because of it.
He recalled a few hours before, when his life had been normal. Before he had been branded a traitor by his own family, before everyone he ever knew was set out to kill him. The only ones who had stayed with him were his own pokemon, and Lucky.
He had never felt so alone. His family had ordered his death. His friends had abandoned him when he needed them the most. Lucky was dead, Aura, the riolu in his arms, was seriously injured, and his other pokemon weren't faring much better. Bounce, his buneary, as well as Stalk and Storm, his two eevees, had been injured in an earlier practice battle, which only left his starter, a fennekin named Twig who disliked battling, as the only member of his team that was in any shape to be able to battle.
The boy soon slipped in a puddle, causing him to tumble down into a deep ditch. A nearby Mightyena, who was leading the search for the boy, heard the crash, and went to investigate. When he found the boy, along with the injured riolu, laying in the ditch, with the former attempting to get up, and the dark predator grinned viciously. Aura, who was unable to get up, could only watch in horror as the massive canine pounced, teeth bared, aimed right at his master's throat.
I'm sorry, master. I was unable to save you. The riolu thought, tears welling in his eyes, mixing with the raindrops cascading down his face.
Throughout the forest, a blood-curdling scream could be heard, until it was suddenly cut off, leaving the forest in an eerie silence.
