"This is it folks!! We've reached the final battle to determine who is the top trainer here at the Kalos League!! Our two finalists are well-known fierce trainers, both Snowbelle City hometown heroes. Liz, a fierce trainer who has fought countless battles with strategies unlike anything you've ever seen before! Will she surprise us again by winning this battle?! Alec, a trainer unlike any other who has surprised us again and again with his pokemon. Between his special Mega Charizard Flame and his faithful shiny Umbreon Ethan, will he be the one standing out on top?! We'll find now as our trainers are heading out onto the field, which is grass for the first half of the battle."
Walking out onto their respective sides were both trainers, ready to face each other in the ultimate showdown. Liz: 13 years old, average height, hazel eyes, wore glasses, medium length brown hair, sports a red T-shirt and a black leather jacket over it, jeans, and blue socks that compliment her blue sneakers. She kept her hair in a ponytail as on top of her head was a red trainer's cap, on her right wrist was a z-ring, and around her neck, she sported a pendant with a key stone. Next to her stood her faithful partner, Violet, who was a beautiful shiny Delphox.
Her opponent was long time friend and her biggest rival: Alec Kirkland. 11 years old, average height, amber eyes, short brownish blonde hair, wore a dark blue T-shirt and black sport's jacket, jeans, and black socks and shoes. He too had his keystone like a necklace. He also possessed a special ability to know what any pokemon were saying when they spoke. His partner was a shiny Umbreon he named Ethan, who has been there for him since day 1.
The referee came out onto the field, saying,"The Kalos League finals are about to get underway. This will be a 6 on 6 battle, with substitutions allowed. In addition, when three pokemon on either side are unable to battle, the battlefield will change. Bring out your first pokemon"!!
Alec smirked at Liz before saying,"You might've beaten me last time in the Kalos League, but this time, I'm going to win. Vanguard, let's go," as his steel / ghost type Aegislash appeared, saying [ To a great battle Liz ] before preparing for battle.
Liz tipped her hat before saying,"Let's make this battle as fun as we can. Violet, you're up first girl," as her Delphox walked out onto the field, saying [ Let's make this a most memorable match Alec ].
Alec smiled, saying,"Looks like our pokemon are ready to battle! Bring it on Liz"!
Liz nodded, saying,"It's time to make history Alec! Let's do this"!!
The referee checked both sides before saying,"It has been determined that Liz gets the first move. Battle begin," as both trainers were ready to rumble.
Liz shouts,"We got the match advantage! Mystical fire," as Violet launched the flaming ring at Vanguard.
Alec remained calm however, saying,"King's Shield," as Vanguard formed a tight shield, protecting itself from the move while lowering Violet's attack power.
When the shield went down, Vanguard said [ What's the matter Violet? Feeling a little weak? And I thought you had the advantage over me. ] Violet smiled, responding with [ I haven't even gotten started yet. Just you wait. ]
Liz then said,"Your King's Shield can't protect you from this move. Psychic"! Violet got a psychic hold on Vanguard, repeatedly slamming it to the ground before slamming it in front of the ground near Alec.
Alec asked his pokemon,"Are you ok," as Vanguard responded with [ Need not to worry. I am fine ] before floating back up for battle.
Alec says,"Use sword dance, then right into iron head," as Vanguard made fake swords and rose its attack power before changing its stance and going in with iron head.
Liz says,"Let's meet it face to fist! Use fire punch," as Violet made a fiery fist and intercepted the iron head, creating a stalemate between the two.
Liz then says with a smirk,"Use psychic while in that position."
"Get out of there Vanguard," Alec shouted with worry. But by the time it saw what was going on, Violet had a psychic hold on him again, slamming it hard into the ground.
With a swirl in its eye, the referee saw and said,"Aegislash is unable to battle! Delphox is the winner," as both Liz and Violet high fived one another.
Alec went towards his fallen friend, asking,"You ok Vanguard"? It nodded, saying [ I'm fine. Liz is a worthy opponent ] as Alec returned him, saying,"She sure is."
He then went back to his position and looked at Ethan, saying,"Ready Ethan"? It nodded, saying [ You bet I am Alec! ] as it ran out onto the battlefield. Violet smiled, saying [ Give me your best shot Ethan ] as it smirked, saying [ Just as long as you don't disappoint me Violet. ]
With the next match set, Alec shouted,"Dark pulse," as Ethan launched the move, hitting Violet head on.
"Recover and use mystical fire," but Violet flinched thanks to the after effect of dark pulse.
Alec, seizing the opportunity, says,"Go in there with iron tail," as Ethan sprinted towards her with its metallic tail.
Violet was able to recover and when she heard Liz shout,"Fire punch," she created yet another stalemate with Ethan. Violet smiled, saying [ How are you going to respond to this Ethan? ] as the shiny dark type eeveelution says,"Like something you'd do ].
Alec, seeing an opening, says,"Launch night shade from where you are," as Ethan used the move, hitting Violet while getting away from the stalemate.
Liz says,"You ok there Violet," as her partner nodded, a bit dazed from that sudden night shade.
Alec says,"Let's show her your psychic," as Ethan got a psychic hold on Violet, slamming her into the walls, rendering her unable to continue.
As the referee named Ethan the winner, Liz returned Violet while praising her for a valiant effort. She looked up at Alec before saying,"Snowflake, let's really show them how it's done." Her Glaceon appeared for battle, glaring and growling at Ethan.
Alec, taking note of Snowflake, says,"That's one tough Glaceon. Let's see how she battles. Ethan, night shade," as Ethan launched the ghost type move again.
Liz smirked, saying,"Blizzard countershield quick," as Snowflake spun on its back while using blizzard, blocking the attack and hitting Ethan hard, shocking him and Alec at the same time.
Ethan recovered while saying [ What the heck was that? ] Snowflake smiled, saying [ A little tactic I picked up in the Sinnoh Region. Both fabulous and fierce! ]
Alec smiled, saying,"No surprise. Ethan, iron tail," as Ethan went in with the move again.
Liz says,"Meet it head on with your iron tail," as Snowflake and Ethan locked: iron tail to iron tail. They duel for a moment, as if their tails were sharp, metal swords.
Then, after another clash from each other's iron tails, Liz shouted,"Ice beam by the ground and around Ethan," as Snowflake launched the move, surrounding Ethan in an icy prison.
Snowflake then jumped as Alec says,"Night shade quick." However, before it could launch the move, Liz said,"Hyperbeam," as Snowflake launched the move, shattering the ice palace into beautiful sparkles while knocking Ethan out of the match.
Alec picked up Ethan, saying,"How are you feeling Ethan"? It woke up, saying [ Like Torch just used flamethrower on me. But I'll live. ] as Alec brought him back to his side.
He then looked at Liz, saying,"Not bad Liz. Having Snowflake know hyperbeam was a huge surprise for me."
Liz smiled back, saying,"Well, we didn't do all this training for nothing. After all, I wanted to be ready for you to bring us all the way."
Snowflake was getting impatient, shouting [ Bring out your next opponent already!!! ]
Alec laughed before saying,"Someone's feisty. In that case, Flame, let's go," as his Charizard appeared for battle.
Snowflake smiled deeply as Liz says,"I knew you'd bring Flame with you. Now, it gets interesting."
Snowflake looked up at Flame, saying [ I've beaten Alain's Mega Charizard and that Trevor kid's Charizard single handedly. Let's see if you can keep up. ] Flame looked at her, saying [ That depends if you can keep up with me. Unlike the ones you've faced, I got more power than them combined. ]
Neither one made a single move before both trainers shouted," Use hyperbeam / flamethrower," as both moves collided, creating an explosion.
Taking the fact that Snowflake needed to recharge, Alec said,"Focus punch," as Flame flew towards Snowflake and hit her hard, driving her into the wall. Liz called her name in worry as Snowflake struggled to stand, hurt from the damage it took.
Shaking it off, Snowflake charged forward as Liz says,"Freeze its wings with ice beam," as Snowflake did just that, causing a little bit of damage and rendering it flightless.
Alec smiled, saying,"We don't need to fly to land a hit. Blast burn," as Flame punched the ground, making it erupt as Snowflake took the full blow of the powerful fire type attack, colliding with the ground, unable to battle anymore.
Liz picked Snowflake up and returned her to its ball, praising it for a valiant effort. Meanwhile, Alec was returning Flame for later on.
Both trainers looked at one another, nodding in respect, before shouting,"Staraptor, take to the skies / Starlord, it's time to battle," as both of their Staraptors appeared for battle. Liz's had a bandanna tied to its leg so she could easily identify it. Both flying types raced one another, trying to get the edge in speed for their match.
Both trainers looked up and shouted,"Aerial ace," as both Staraptors used the move, hitting each other hard.
Liz saw her Staraptor and shouted,"Quick! Go into sky attack," while Alec responded with,"Intercept with giga impact"! Starlord prepared its move while Staraptor dodged at the last second before striking with sky attack.
Since Starlord was unable to move for a while, Liz shouted,"Let's stay on the offense with close combat," as Staraptor launched the fighting type move, knocking Starlord to the ground.
Staraptor hovered above the smoke, but was not prepared for a "Brave bird," shouted by Alec and done by Starlord, who hits Staraptor head on while taking recoil damage.
Staraptor recovered, saying [ Man. You had me there with that surprise brave bird ]. Starlord just hovered, saying [ Hey, like you and Liz, Alec and I are full of surprises. So, watch out my friend ]
Alec then says,"Close combat," while Liz responded with,"Combine steel wing and close combat and meet Starlord head on." Both flying types battled in the sky, landing kicks, punches, and wing slaps to one another.
With bruises and cuts, they were both running out of energy. Both trainers knew it was time to end this.
In unison, both trainers shouted,"Aerial ace," as both Staraptors collided one more time with aerial ace, creating an explosion. Once the smoke settled, both Staraptor and Starlord were on the ground, unable to battle.
Both trainers rushed out to the field, holding their flying types close as the announcer says,"Oh my!! After a fierce flying type clash, it resulted as a double knockout, with both sides left with three pokemon! This is anyone's match folks"!!
As both trainers returned to their side, it was time for the battlefield to change.
While doing so, Liz shouted,"Hey Alec!! This match is fun!! You and your pokemon have gotten a lot stronger"!!
Alec smiled, shouting back,"Thanks. You and your team have gotten tougher too. Of course, I'm still going to win."
Liz tipped her hat, saying,"We'll see." She then asked,"How you feeling Ethan"?
Ethan just smirked, saying sarcastically [ Well, aside from having my butt beaten by a girl who was feisty and tough, I'm doing fine thank you ]. Alec just laughed as Liz muttered while smiling,"Probably said something snarky, then again, it is Ethan."
Soon, the new battlefield appeared, now it being the badlands. Alec shouted,"Sandtrap, time to battle," as Liz responded with,"Dragonite, take to the skies." Both Dragonite and Flygon appeared for battle, both giving a fierce growl to one another.
Sandtrap says [ Back away man! This is my battle and you're not taking the win away from me! ] Dragonite retorted with [ Fat chance man! Why not do what your name says and Fly away, be Gone! ] These two have had a harsh rivalry since they were Dratini and Trapinch, always trying to show each other up.
Alec, seeing the tension, says,"Calm down Sandtrap. We're in a battle. Can you worry about your rivalry with him later"? Sandtrap sighed and saying [ Fine, but I won't go easy on him either way! ]
Dragonite, seeing this, says [ That's fine with me! Last time at the Kalos League, I beat your friend Shark with one move! Now, it's your turn! ]
Once the battles was called to begin, Alec shouted,"Use fire blast," as Liz says,"Intercept with flamethrower"! Both moves collided, creating a heated explosion.
Dragonite flew into the smoke, reading an ice punch as Sandtrap intercepted it with iron tail, creating a stalemate.
In a locked position, both trainers shouted,"Use dragon pulse," as both moves hit one another, driving them both back.
Alec says,"Earthquake now," as Sandtrap slammed its tail on the ground, ripping it open.
Liz responded with,"Use flamethrower in the cracks," as Dragonite did as so, creating explosive smoke that blinded both it and Alec.
Dragonite nodded at Liz while saying [ Let's show them our "secret weapon" ] as Liz nodded, saying,"If you're ready, then I'm ready"!
Liz placed a dragonium z in her z-ring and then, she and Dragonite did the motions to activate it. While doing so, Liz said,"Lord of the skies, the land, the sea and the world. Let a defying roar take place as all the dragons call out your name"!!
As the smoke cleared, both Sandtrap and Alec could see that Liz and Dragonite were setting something up as he says,"Stop them with fire blast," as Sandtrap prepared to launch its fire blast.
Meanwhile, Liz says,"Release your inner dragon! Now, use Devastating Drake," as Dragonite launched the z-move, breaking right through the fire blast and hitting Sandtrap, knocking it out cold.
Alec went up to the fallen Sandtrap, saying,"Are you ok"? It nodded, responding [ I'm ok, but what in the name of dragons was that move? ] He returned Sandtrap while saying,"I don't know buddy."
Liz, seeing the confusion, shouting,"That, my friend, was a z-move. Traveling in Alola, I learned about z-moves, which are powerful attacks that are unleashed with the aid of a z-crystal and a z-ring. You can only use them once in a battle, so timing is key."
Alec, taking this in, says,"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind so I can find a way to counter them next time. Flame, back out again"!
Flame was called out once more as Dragonite smiled saying [ Finally! A worthy opponent! Hit me with your best shot! ] Flame smiled at Dragonite while saying [ Fire away my friend ]
Liz and Alec both shouted,"Use flamethrower," as their pokemon launched the move, creating a stalemate.
Flame flew into the smoke as Alec says,"Use dragon claw," with Flame preparing to use the move.
Liz says,"Fly up Dragonite and use dragon rush," as Dragonite dodged the first swipe, preparing a potent dragon rush. However, Flame cut right through it with dragon claw, also hitting Dragonite and knocking it out cold.
Liz returned Dragonite, praising it for a valiant effort while Alec returned Flame again for later.
Both trainers readied their next choices, shouting,"Garchomp, battle dance / Echo, into the sky," with both dragon types appearing. With Liz was her powerful Garchomp, while with Alec, was Echo, his Noivern.
They smirked at one another, saying [ Bring it buddy!! ]
Liz pressed on her keystone while saying,"Garchomp, mega evolve"! Garchomp grew and changed shape, with the light dieing down, becoming Mega Garchomp right before the audience's eyes.
Now, the battle was going to be heated as they both shouted,"Dragon pulse," with both moves launched, creating an explosion.
Echo took to the skies while Alec commanded it to use heat wave, launching the fire type move with its wings.
Liz responded with,"Mega Garchomp, dodge it with dig, then dragon claw"! Mega Garchomp dove underground to avoid the heat wave before appearing to strike with dragon claw.
Alec says,"Keep it away with air slash," as it used the move. However, Mega Garchomp used its dragon claw to slice right through before landing a hit on Echo.
As it fell, Echo recovered quickly as Alec says,"Use boomburst," as it launched the move, hitting Mega Garchomp hard.
Alec, seeing an opportunity, says,"Launch dragon pulse straight through," as Echo roared and sent the move towards his opponent.
However, Liz was prepared, saying,"Block it by surrounding yourself with sandstorm." Mega Garchomp surrounded itself with sandstorm, protecting itself from the move and making things a little windier for Echo, who was struggling with the sandy air currents. Since Mega Garchomp was a ground type, it didn't take damage, but Echo was getting chip damage thanks to the effects of sandstorm.
Alec was getting a bit worried before noticing the sandstorm and how it was moving.
With an idea, he shouts,"Echo, gain control and use heat wave on the sandstorm! Make sure it follows the path that it's moving in"!!
Echo nodded while saying [ Got it Alec! ] before using heat wave on the sandstorm. It first didn't look like it was doing anything. Then, the sandstorm was becoming a fire storm and despite it not being very effective, Mega Garchomp was caught right at the center of the action.
Once the sandstorm dissipated, Echo landed while panting while Mega Garchomp stood for a minute before falling over, reverting back to its original form.
Liz rushed over to Garchomp, making sure it was ok as it said [ It seems Echo bested me this time ] She smiled while saying,"Great job. Rest up buddy," while returning it to its ball.
Liz walked back to her side while saying,"My last pokemon...this is it." She tipped her hat, smiled with determination, and said,"Lucario! Let your aura guide us to victory," as her final choice, Lucario, appeared for battle. Liz said to it,"You're my last hope. Even if we beat Echo, we still have Flame to worry about, especially since he's yet to mega evolve. So, don't over exert yourself, got it"? It nodded and said [ I understand master ]
Alec asked Echo,"Can you keep going," as it nodded, saying [ I want to make Arco proud of me! ] Hearing that made Alec dazed a bit, but it was that state of mind that costed him when Liz shouted,"Dragon pulse," as Echo got hit from Lucario's attack.
It struggled to remain standing as Lucario began to move at lightning speed towards it. Meanwhile, Liz shouts,"Use shadow claw," as Lucario struck with brute force, dealing the knockout blow.
As Alec picked up Echo, it looked up at him, saying [ I'm sorry Alec. I really wanted to make you and Arco proud in this battle yet I couldn't even attack. ] Alec smiled, saying,"Don't be sad Echo. It's my fault. I should've given you a command. You were excellent buddy. Rest up for now."
As he returned Echo to its ball, he looked up thinking Liz has done well, being able to make Lucario move so fast. Now, I'm down to my last choice, but I believe in Flame. We will be able to defeat Liz!!
He pulled out his final choice and shouts,"Flame, out once more," as his Charizard appeared one more time for battle. Both it and Lucario stared each other down, ready to win for their trainer.
Liz says,"Stay on guard Lucario. You never know what Flame might do." It nodded, saying [ I understand master. We will be victorious as long as we remain vigilant and cautious ]
Meanwhile, Alec said to Flame,"Stay alert Flame. Lucario has gotten a lot faster since you last faced it. We don't know what else it may be capable of." Flame nodded, saying [ Got it Alec. We made it this far. Now, it's time to win! ]
The announcer spoke, saying,"This is it! The final bout and it's between Lucario and Charizard. Who will take home the title of Kalos League Champion"?!
Both pokemon stared each other down as Lucario says [ To think you and I would be the last ones standing. Of course, you've yet to beat me. Now, it's time to see how much you've grown since our last battle ]. Flame smiled back, saying [ I've been training hard with Alec since we first met. Then, we met you and defeating you in friendly competition became my goal. Now, thanks to Alec, you're about to see all our hard work pay off! ]
Flame faced Alec while saying [ Let's show them Alec! ] Alec nodded while pressing his keystone, allowing Charizard to mega evolve, but this...this was unlike any mega evolution seen before. Flame had traits of both Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y. It was like a...Mega Charizard fusion!!!
Both Liz and Lucario were in shock at what they saw, but impressed none the less.
Lucario nodded, saying [ I am mightily impressed Flame. You and your trainer have achieved something only possible due to the strong connection you both share. If you're going all out, then it's only right for us to respond this way as well! ]
Lucario looked at Liz as she says,"To respond to mega evolution is with a special mega evolution!! Become one with your aura and provide yourself the strength to mega evolve."!
Lucario channeled his inner aura and gave off a light bluish glow that surrounded him like a cyclone. Once it disappeared, what stood in place of Lucario was now Mega Lucario, now leaving Flame and Alec shocked.
Liz responded with,"Our training has allowed us to grow close and our bond has rewarded that with this special skill. Now, if I have already used up mega evolution, Lucario can achieve it through our bond and the power of his aura."
Alec nodded, saying,"Incredible!!! What a more perfect way to conclude this fight"!
Liz smiled, saying,"Couldn't agree more with you Alec"!
They all stared each other down as but three words slipped out of their mouths: "Let's finish this"!!
"Dragon claw"!!!
"Shadow claw"!!!
Both pokemon met in the middle and collided with their moves, creating a powerful stalemate.
"Flamethrower," Alec commanded as Flame launched the move towards Mega Lucario.
Liz says,"Block it with bone rush, then strike," as Lucario formed two bones and spun then to absorb the flames before striking Flame with them.
Alec says,"Focus punch," as Flame slammed his fist at Lucario, who used its paws to block.
Liz then says,"Aura sphere," as Lucario launches the move, hitting Flame head on.
Alec says,"Quick! Blast burn," as Flame punched the ground to use the move.
However, before it could hit Lucario, Liz says,"Use bone rush to jump into the sky and avoid the explosion"! Lucario stuck a bone rush in the ground and use it to jump high into the air. So, while it took damage from the heat waves above, it avoided the more serious explosion that surely would have defeated it.
Since Flame would not be able to move for some time, Liz seized the opportunity, saying,"Shadow claw into bone rush into aura sphere"! Using its momentum in the air, Lucario struck Flame with shadow claw before forming its bones and hitting it multiple times with then. Then, Lucario back flipped into position and shot an aura sphere, doing critical damage.
When the smoke cleared, Flame was struggling to remain standing. Looking at Mega Lucario, it was running out of steam too. Suddenly, Flame was able to stand up, but something was happening.
The flame on its tail doubled in size as fiery flames surrounded it while Flame gave off a mighty roar. Liz struggled to keep her hat on as Lucario struggled to not get blown away. Alec quietly muttered,"Is that...the Final Blaze ability"?
Flame looked at Alec and said [ Let's win this thing together! ] Alec nodded, saying,"You got it Flame"!!
Liz looked at Lucario, saying,"It's time for the final move Lucario! Let's seize this win," as it responded with [ I couldn't agree more master! Let's win this! ]
Both trainers shouted,"Aura sphere max power!!! / Blast burn max power"!! Both pokemon launched their moves, colliding and creating a huge explosion, making it hard to see anything.
As the smoke began to settle, both trainers watched and anticipated who would fall first. Would it be Lucario or would it be Flame? Suddenly, one pokemon dropped to the floor and reverted back to normal. With that, the referee says,"Lucario is unable to battle! Charizard wins! Alec is Kalos League champion"!
The crowd erupted in cheer as the announcer says,"It's over!! After a brutal back and forth brawl between the two, Alec is the Kalos League champion"!! Alec was happy and stunned at the same time as he shouts,"We did it Flame!!! We really did it"!!
Flame reverted back to normal before saying [ We really did Alec! ] They were both really happy that they were able to win and beat Liz for once.
Liz went up to Lucario, who awoke and groaned in exhaustion. She held it in her arms, saying,"You battled brilliantly Lucario. Take a good rest," as she returned it to its ball for a well deserved rest. She looked up at Alec, a little disappointed, yes, but happy nonetheless for him. He really did deserve to win.
After the award show, Alec brought his pokemon to the pokemon center to be healed when Liz joined him, saying,"Congratulations. You bested me. I'm not surprised, but, that had to be one of the greatest battles we've ever had." As she gave her pokemon to Nurse Joy as well, Alec said,"You're definitely right about that. Our teams put up one heck of a fight." While Nurse Joy brought their pokemon to the back for healing, Liz and Alec sat down to wait. While doing so, she asked him,"So, what's next for you"?
Alec looked at her, saying,"Honestly, I don't know. Maybe I'll challenge the Elite 4 or something." Liz smiled, saying,"Well, whatever you do, I know you, your team, and especially Ethan, will do great and support you all the way. Hey, can you promise me something"?
Alec responded with,"If it's my hand in marriage, don't you think you're a bit young to think that yet"? Liz smirked and punched his arm playfully, saying,"Ha ha very funny. No, I was going to say that promise me the next time we meet, we have another match just like that, deal"? Alec shook her hand while saying,"You got yourself a deal"! Both trainers laughed as they awaited for their pokemon before continuing on their respective journeys. Who knows when these two will meet again and when they do, one could only wonder what they will have in store for us next.
