A/N:
Alright, this is an experimental chapter. No idea how people will like it but it will depend on the readers if this story will get a green-light from me to go on. It's been an idea I've experimented for a long time but never took the time to write it down. I've got all five books of the series which I'm planning on reading as well, but this story will be following movies only.
Enjoy, and do let me know your opinion!
Chapter 1: The Arrival
THE first thing she saw was a dark confined, moving and slightly smelling room. It was rattling and making her headache. She tried to adjust her eyesight, feeling utterly terrified and lost as of what was happening to her.
For some reason, she couldn't remember anything but her name. Giulia. That's the only thing that popped up in her memory. No matter how hard she tried to recall anything else. Of course, she knew what objects around her were - knew that she was a female (she remembered what cities and towns were like, how guns and all sorts of objects worked and what they meant, scared of such knowledge; but she supposed it was necessary for to remember it all but not to be able to make a connection with them).
That something hurt besides the forming headache, glancing down Giulia saw blood.
"Oh." Her voice sounded different, somehow.
Her abdomen was bleeding, blood sweeping through her white shirt. Bad day to wear such a color. There were animal noises coming from near her. Pigs. Chicken. She managed to recall.
Giulia didn't know how long it took her to reach the top or wherever it was they were taking her. They? Who's they? People who put her there? Why? For what reason? What did she do wrong?
She let out a sob, before trying to stand up. The small world around her spun until she managed to balance herself. Just in time to prevent falling on top of the pigs cage. The pain in her abdomen was excruciating, but she ignored it. She had to know what was going on.
"Help! Someone! ANYBODY! Get me out of here!" She shouted, running a hand through her mahogany brown hair (which she knew by seeing the locks of her hair). It reached to her mid-waist.
Somehow Giulia knew that she was extremely proud of her hair.
No answer came. But the rattling and shaking room came to a sudden stop. The impact caused her to fall back on the hard floor with a gasp. She was trembling, her vision was starting to get blurry due to blood loss. And there was that annoying loud alarm that made her wince.
Then there was silence for some minutes until the ceiling was opened - the light was so bright that she had to shield her eyes with a hand.
Someone jumped inside, at first glance he hadn't noticed her but when he did - he took a double look. Almost as if he had never seen a girl. And she stared at him, desperately trying to stop the bleeding in her abdomen, her hand was soaked red. She was starting to hate the color red.
"Oi, Alby - who's the new Greenie?"
Looking up, Giulia saw just a handful of boys around the room, each saying something she couldn't understand right away. It was incoherent, the way they spoke over each other excitedly. Then she turned her attention to the dark-skinned, tall and baffled looking boy in front of her.
He was dressed in simple clothes. Nothing too flashy. His dark hair was short. There was an aura of authority on him that screamed at Giulia to obey. She swallowed, briefly blacking out as she struggled for balance.
"You alright there?" His voice commanding, and yet, unsure how to act with her.
Giulia ignored his question, focusing her attention on the more important stuff, her well being could be dealt with later. "Where am I? What's going on?" Her voice was laced with urgency, it was also a bit shakier than Giulia would admit.
"Holy klunk! It's a girl!"
Apparently, someone had gotten a good look at her, realized her gender and his words caused mayhem. She managed to count twelve boys, so far. Her stance relaxed. A bit. Although her breathing was becoming heavier, harder to control. She visibly stumbled, her eyes watching the boys carefully.
"Welcome to the Glade, Greenie." The boy introduced himself, taking a step forward to catch the girl as she was about to fall forward, blinking at the sight of her bloodied hand. "Name's Alby, do you remember yours?"
"Giulia," her raspy voice managed to croak out before Giulia gave in to the blood loss and collapsed in Alby's arms.
The last thing she remembered was Alby shouting for medjack and bellowing for someone to help them out of there.
