Hi guys! This is my first MHA fanfic. I had a dream last night that was MHA and Kingdom Hearts 3 (plot) combined, and it was epic. This fic is the result of that. This isn't a crossover fic: it's wholly MHA, just with a KH3 plot point. Enjoy!
Four
Every bone, every muscle, every sinew in his body ached. Simply moving took much more effort than it should have. His veins pumped liquid fire through his body. Blood oozed from various wounds, staining his hero costume. Deku's bruised eye twitched, another painful reminder of his predicament. Muted colors blurred as he made his way down the dark alleyway. His hand slid along the wall for support. He stumbled along, not even aware of where his feet carried him until he saw a faded address on a street corner.
It was familiar. A distant part of his brain reminded him of a file he'd seen only days ago, a list of Shigaraki's old hideouts. He hadn't realized he'd been fighting so close to one. It was abandoned now. Maybe... maybe he could hide here. Until someone found him. His class would be looking for him by now. But then again, he did often slip away. Maybe they weren't.
No... Someone would find him. Someone would come.
It was just a matter of time.
His abdomen pulsed, crimson dripping from the deep wound on his side. Deku groaned as he clutched his suit. Tears leaked out of his eyes. Someone would come. He hung onto that sentence with every ounce of hope he had left. But then again, if someone did come, they'd have to face them too. And whoever came wouldn't have a single chance of winning. One For All had been basically useless against them.
Deku felt his hope fade away once more.
He grabbed onto the handrail that lined the staircase, painstakingly making his way up the first step, then the next. He grit his teeth, sagging against the wall. He tried to take a deep breath, but found that even that action hurt. He'd probably broken a few ribs in the fall. Not to mention the fight.
Just a few more steps. He could see the door to the hideout. He was almost there.
He didn't expect for the door to open. Light streamed in from the room behind, silhouetting the slim figure in the doorway. Deku slammed his eyes shut. For a brief moment, panic lit his veins and he tried to move away. It was them. They were here.
"Oh my!"
It was a woman's voice, high pitched and worried. She rushed down the stairs towards him, collapsing in front of him. Deku struggled to focus on her. She couldn't have been older than his own mother. Dark hair, with just a few strands of grey, framed her face. Her eyes swam with concern.
Dread filled him. If she was here, she was in danger. They weren't far behind him.
"You're a hero, right?" she said.
"Please-" he tried. His voice was weak, broken. His mind could barely form words, but he needed to tell her to run.
"What's your name?"
She was in danger and she was worried about his name?
"Deku."
She laid a hand on his shoulder. "Deku, I'm going to get my first aid kit, alright. I'll be right back."
The woman ran back upstairs. She left the door open a crack and Deku heard a young boy's voice.
"Mommy?"
No... not a child. He couldn't be caught up in this. They couldn't be here.
Deku whimpered as his side pulsed again. It hurt. So much. But he had to leave. Had to draw them away from this family. He couldn't let them be hurt. It would be his fault. His fault. All of this was his fault.
He heard the woman on the phone, calling the police. He could only hear bits and pieces of the conversation, but relief washed over him. Someone knew now. Someone would come. His friends would come.
Just not in time.
He heard footsteps.
Fear overwhelmed him as four tall men came into view from the other end of the alley. They were all different ages. All different builds. All One for All.
Deku didn't know how there were four of them. He didn't know why. But he knew he couldn't run anymore.
They'd found him.
The youngest of them, a man with long dark hair and a black coat, smirked. "Didn't get far, did we, hero?"
Deku grit his teeth, hatred coloring his tone. "What do you want?"
Another one, with short salt and pepper hair and crow's feet along his eyes, answered him. "You'll find out soon enough."
Deku's mind raced, struggling to come up with a solution. There's no way he could fight in his current state. Even with One for All. He'd already destroyed parts of his body, and he was losing blood fast. But the family... He could still hear the woman on the phone. He had to protect them...
Or...
"I'll go with you," he croaked. "But you have to promise not to hurt them."
They followed his gaze to the top of the stairs, where the light behind spilled into the stairwell. The four of them exchanged glances, and it didn't take long for the oldest one, the one Deku knew of from this timeframe, to answer.
"Deal."
Deku tried to stand, his whole body quivering. But he collapsed again back on the stairs. His breaths came in gasps now, and he could feel himself fading. Distantly, he was aware of one of the All for One's coming towards him. Suddenly he was being lifted off the ground by nothing. He was floating, being carried along by air alone. He didn't struggle. The rest of his strength ebbed out of him, and his eyelids felt like a million pounds. He took one last breath before he lost consciousness, listening to the sounds of police sirens in the distance.
