Igneel was flying across the sky, when he looked down and spotted a brown-haired boy walking alone in a forest.

Seconds later, he landed in front of the boy and asked curiously. "Why are you traversing this forest by yourself?"

"I don't have a family anymore." The boy sniffled, on the verge of tears.

The Fire Dragon King suddenly felt sorry for him. Then Igneel made a offer that surprised both of them. "How's this sound, I'll take you in and teach you how to use magic."

Hearing this, the boy perked up. "Really?"

"Yes. Before we get started, what is your name?" The Fire Dragon King asked.

"It's Ty-Tyson." He stuttered.

"That's a nice name." Igneel kindly replied.

Shortly after the two met for the first time, Igneel taught his adopted son Fire Dragon Slayer magic.

"Hey, Igneel! Check this out!" The dragon stomped over to see what Tyson was talking about.

"Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" Tyson engulfed his fist in fire. He thrust it forward into a tree, breaking it apart.

"Impressive. You're learning quickly." That was the only thing his adoptive father could say.

Two days later

"Since it's apparent you are starting to master basic attacks, let's see you take it one step further." Igneel said.

Tyson nodded in understanding.

"Now try this." Igneel pulled his head back and shot out a large fire blast.

"Gladly." Tyson followed his example. The Dragon Slayer in training's cheeks puffed up as he placed both hands in front of his mouth like a funnel. "Fire Dragon Roar!" The attack charred the trees in the surrounding area.

"Well done." Igneel complimented him.

Tyson wasn't able to say a word. He was way too happy about what he just achieved.

"Let's continue." Igneel added.

With his previous successes, Tyson learned additional spells such as Sword Horn, Flame Elbow, Crushing Fang, Wing Attack, Grip Strike, Claw and Roasting Bath.

Over the next several months, Tyson learns some advanced spells. But then on July 7th X777, he discovered that his foster father was nowhere to be seen.

The Fire Dragon Slayer sees a note laying on the floor.

Sorry,

I hoped we were able to spend more time together, but I have other matters to attend to. You'll see a chest containing money, clothes and a book teaching you about Dragon Slayers. Then, head to Magnolia and join the Fairy Tail Guild.

Sincerely, Igneel.

Tyson looked up and sadly stared into the sky. "Wherever you are, Igneel I'll never stop looking for you. That's a promise."

Tyson did what the letter said and headed towards Magnolia. Not being sure where to go, he approached a man and asked, "Do you know where Fairy Tail is?"

"Indeed." The man pointed at a large building with two fairies on a sign.

Tyson continued to the guild and stood in front of the entrance.

"Okay. I'm ready." He pushed the door open and went inside. A black-haired boy only wearing boxers greeted him.

"Who are you?" The boy asked.

"I'm Tyson. Tyson Dragneel." Tyson answered back.

"Name's Gray Fullbuster." Gray added.

"Gray, your clothes." A brown-haired girl called out of nowhere.

"Ah, man!" He complained.

"Jeez, are you some kind of pervert." Tyson muttered, angering Gray.

"Who are you calling a pervert." Gray angrily demanded.

"You, obviously." The two begin a fight, which a red-haired girl wearing armor breaks the two combatants up.

"You wanna go!" He shouted. The girl glared before punching him and Gray into a wall.

"Gaah!" Tyson cried out in pain after being punched.

"Why me, too." Gray moaned.

"No fighting, is that understood." She replied in a stern tone.

"Yes, ma'am." Gray said fearfully.

"Man, you're frightening." Tyson added.

"What's your name kid?" The red-head asked.

"Uh, Tyson." He muttered.

"Tyson, huh. Listen well, this guild is like a family. It's not ideal for starting fights." She explained.

After getting himself down, Tyson asked Gray something. "Who's the master here?"

"I am." A short man dressed in a jester outfit came up to Tyson. "What can I do for you."

"Read this note and you'll find out the reason I came here." Tyson handed him the note Igneel left in the cave.

"So you wish to become a member, huh?" The old man questioned. "In that case, where would you like your guild mark and what color will it be."

"Red and I'd like it right here." Tyson lifted his shirt up, exposing his chest.

The mark was successfully placed and the old man yelled. "We have a new member of the Fairy Tail Family. Time to celebrate!" The entire guild partied until nighttime.

X784

Seven years passed since Igneel mysteriously disappeared and Tyson became a member of Fairy Tail. He became a S-Class wizard last year after barely defeating Erza Scarlet.

"Tyson, wake up. We're in Hargeon." A blue cat with a sack on it's back called out.

"Ugh, already. Thanks for waking me up Happy." He said groggily.

"No problem." Happy said. "Let's find this Salamander quickly."

(Across town)

A blonde-haired girl strolled through the town's market.

"Really? This is the town's only magic shop?" She asked.

"Most of the people here are fisherman." The shop owner answered, "The only reason this shop is here is to give traveling mages what they need."

"Disappointing." She sighed to herself.

"Don't get discouraged." The owner said. "I do have some things you'll be interested in."

He showed her some more merchandise to convince her to stay.

The girl looked around a bit more and noticed some Gate keys. "I'd like one of your Gate Keys."

"You're a Celestial Wizard? They don't pass by here that often."

"What's the price?" She asked.

"20,000 jewel."

"What?"

"Again, 20,000 jewel."

In desperation, she got on the ground in a seductive manner.

"What's the actual price." She finished it by winking.

Several minutes later, she was stomping down the street in anger, holding the silver gate key.

"Only a thousand jewel off? Is my appearance really not worth much?" She forced herself to grin. "So much for my charm..."

Her rant was stopped by a crowd of fan-girls. Several of them ran past her towards the plaza.

"Did you hear? Salamander's here!"

She overheard them and was freaking out as well.

"S-Salamander? What's he doing here?" She shrugged and joined the crowd, unaware of what was about to happen.

Around this time Tyson and Happy encountered the fan-girls.

"Hey, Igneel. I'm-" His expression changed. "Are you Igneel." He said, discouraged.

"No." The man responded, before holding a autograph. "Since you're here, take this and show it to your friends."

"Pass." He replied before turning around to leave. The fan-girls barred his exit, however.

"Tell Salamander you're sorry." One fan-girl hissed.

"Leave him alone, ladies. If he's not interested, fine." The fake Salamander silenced them.

"Sorry about that." The blonde said to them.

"Another dead end. Figures, I should've expected this. Why would a dragon show up in the middle of a town." Tyson sighed in disappointment.

(Restaurant)

"So I was under a charm spell?" The blonde asked. She offered to buy him a meal as thanks for breaking the spell

"More than likely." Tyson answered, eating a bacon cheeseburger while Happy munched on a fish.

"Well, it's good you weren't affected." She said.

"Don't ask how, I just wasn't." Tyson muttered. "Lucy, right?"

"Yeah." She answered. "You didn't share your name."

"Tyson Dragneel." He gestured to himself. "So, do you want to join a guild."

"Yeah." Lucy answered. "I've always wanted to join one. It would be exciting and I would get a lot of money as well."

'Is that right, well I can help with that.' Tyson thought to himself.

"Well, I should probably be going now." Lucy said. "Before I do, let me pay for your meal."

"Not necessary." Tyson shot back.

"I insist." She added.

"Fine." Tyson admitted defeat. "Thank you."

Lucy sat alone on a park bench after leaving the restaurant. 'Why didn't I let him pay for the meal, the money I was going to use and buy the Gate key is gone. Besides, him saving me was by accident.'

She reached into her purse and retrieved a issue of Sorcerer's Weekly.

"Wow, Mirajane is awesome!" She said, looking at her picture. "What's it take to become a member? A application?"

"You're interested in joining Fairy Tail?" A familiar voice asked. She looked over and noticed Salamander.

"Not you again?" She complained.

"Sorry for not introducing myself earlier." Salamander said.

"No you don't." Lucy said. "I know how your magic works now. You won't be charming me again."

"You're a wizard, right?" Salamander asked. "Why don't you come to the party on my yacht later?"

"Fat chance, I'd never be caught with someone like you." Lucy said angrily. Salamander grimaced, before quickly snapping out of

"I told you about Fairy Tail earlier, yes?" Salamander asked.

"Why?" Lucy repeated.

"I'm heading back tomorrow, so it's not gonna matter." He stated confidently. Lucy turned his direction.

"Wait." Lucy said, "Are you telling me you're Fairy Tail's Salamander?"

"The one and only." Salamander smugly said, "And since I have a say in the guild, I'll recommend you."

"Can you do such a thing?" She asked.

"Of course."

"Awesome!" Lucy said, excited.

"See you tonight, my lady!" Salamander said, as purple fire appeared beneath him and whisked him away. While he was leaving, Lucy started to frown.

"He suckered me again." She muttered, before a happy expression appeared on her face. "Oh well, I'm going to become a member of Fairy Tail! So that's a good thing!"

(That evening)

Tyson and Happy walked down a street.

"I'm still hungry." Tyson grumbled. "Should've gotten more than that cheeseburger."

"Can I have another fish?" Happy asked.

"Not right now." Tyson answered.

"Fine." Happy said sadly.

"By the way, what about Lucy?" The blue cat asked. "You asked her if she wanted to join a guild."

"We'd have to find her first." Tyson said.

"Aye!" Happy agreed, jumping on the railing and looking towards the ocean.

"Look." Happy said. Tyson followed the direction where his paw was pointing.

"That's where Bora's party is being held." He stated.

"I see." Tyson noted.

"Isn't that Salamander's boat?" A girl asked.

"Yeah, there's a huge party on board!" Another girl shouted.

"He's so cool, they say he's one of Fairy Tail's best!"

Tyson's head turned towards the pair.

"Did I just hear Fairy Tail?" Tyson questioned.

(The yacht)

"Thank you for coming." Salamander said.

"No problem." Lucy said. From all appearances it was a basic party, albeit womanizing. She would be lying if she wasn't uncomfortable. There was something off with him, but Lucy didn't know what it was.

"A toast to your beauty." Salamander said, raising his hand as drops of her drink floated up. "Drink up." Lucy was justifiably freaking out. She then noticed a symbol on one of Salamander's rings.

"You're trying to use Sleep Magic on me." Salamander was surprised for a moment, but he smirked afterwards.

"Impressive."

"I do want to become a member of Fairy Tail, but not like this!" Lucy firmly said.

"You're a stubborn one." Salamander sneered, "Looks like I can drop the act." The curtains opened, revealing several thugs, each one holding a unconscious woman. Lucy turned in shock.

"What's going on?" She asked.

"It'll be a while till we're in Bosco." Salamander said darkly, "Cooperate and it'll go by quicker."

"Bosco?" Lucy repeated. "That's not what you told me, you said you'd get me into Fairy Tail!"

"You're naive." Salamander responded, "I said that just to lure you on board." Lucy went for her keys, but they were knocked out of reach by Salamander's flames and into his hands.

"A Celestial Wizard is nothing with their keys, but I have no use for them..." He threw the keys over the side, into the ocean.

Lucy clenched her fists tightly, tears forming in her eyes. 'How could someone be this cruel.' She thought.

"You're the worst kind of wizard!" She declared. Salamander just sneered.

The ceiling exploded. Lucy looked up in shock as a figure was visible in the dust. Lucy recognized him.

"Tyson!" Lucy shouted.

"How'd you find yourself in this mess?" He asked sarcastically.

"Never mind how." She retorted. "Just take him down."

She informed him about what the fake Salamander has been doing.

"So, you were using my title to kidnap women. I won't stand for that!" Tyson said angrily.

"What are you gonna do?" Salamander smugly asked.

"Just this. Fire Dragon Roar!" Tyson held his hands in front of his mouth like a pipe and released a torrent of fire in the room.

"Lucy, we need to go." Happy told her.

"What about-" Lucy began, but was cut off by the blue cat.

"He can handle himself. Tyson is a S-Class wizard after all." Happy explained.

"You call yourself a Fairy Tail member, then how come I've never seen you around the guild." Tyson said. "And do you have a guild mark?"

"Uh..." Salamander stammered.

"Didn't think so." Tyson told him confidently.

"Now, before this escalates, let's take this battle elsewhere." He grabbed the fake Salamander and threw him towards the port.

"Get these women out of here." He ordered. Lucy and Happy complied after Aquarius safely brought the ship to shore. Tyson then brought his feet down as jets of fire surrounded them. Tyson went straight towards the pier and upon landing began trading blows with Salamander.

At one point during the slug fest, Tyson's shirt was torn revealing his red Fairy Tail symbol.

"That's-" One of the thugs exclaimed. "This guy's a real Fairy Tail member, Bora."

"Don't call me that!" Bora shouted.

"I see, now. You're Bora the Prominence, didn't you get kicked of the Titan Nose Guild for using your magic for illegal purposes."

"Why do you care." Bora scoffed.

"No one will be allowed to disrespect Fairy Tail." Tyson gritted his teeth. "I'll make you wish you hadn't imitated me."

Bora yelled in anger as he sent a storm of purple flames at him, creating a massive explosion.

"Tyson!" Lucy shouted.

"Tch." Bora scoffed, "Let's go."

"That wasn't a good-tasting fire." They all turned. Tyson was sucking the fire into his mouth.

"Dirt tastes better." He said.

"He ate fire!" Lucy said in shock. Tyson wiped his mouth.

"Now I'm fired up." He said proudly.

"Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" Flames coated Tyson's arm as he punched several thugs in the face. Bora managed to slip away on his fire.

"Now I remember. This guy is one of Fairy Tail's S-Class Wizards and the true Salamander." One thug said.

Tyson rushed Bora and punched him in the face.

"That magic, what is that?" Lucy asked. "It's like a..."

"Dragon." Happy said. "It is. That's a lost magic. It's called Fire Dragon Slayer magic. Igneel taught him about it."

Tyson headbutted Bora, knocking him down to the ground.

"Whoa! That was unnerving." Lucy said. The sound of marching got her attention.

"The army!" She cried.

"Time to get out of here!" Tyson shouted as the three ran away.

"Where are we going?"

"You wanna join Fairy Tail, you met the right guy." Tyson reminded her. Time seemed to stop for Lucy.

"You know it!" Lucy happily exclaimed.
