"Hey David." Mark yawned as he greeted his brother over the phone. Rubbing the back of his neck as he leaned against the wall.
"How's Becky?"
He couldn't help, but smile as he thought of his wife who was sleeping after giving birth to their son. "She's fine, make sure to tell them that nothing went wrong."
"I will, called you a bunch of things over the fact that Becky didn't want her there."
Rolling his eyes as he listened to his younger brother go on about their mother-in-law. "Yeah well me and Becky talked about it before her due date. Becks didn't want any tension in the room, and…"
"Mark, it's fine that you, and Becky decided that together. It shows that you and Becky have….."
Biting the inside of his cheek as David went on and on about feelings. "I get it Davo, it shows that me and Becky are talking, and all that. Can't wait for you to meet your nephew."
"It's a boy?"
Mark frowned, "He's not an it, David. His name is Daniel and he's ….my son." Blinking as he could hear something of a struggle on the other end.
"Mark!" Came Roseanne's voice loud enough through the phone that the new parents, and the nurse with them passing by him shot him looks.
"Can you put on the phone." He simply asks, as he glances over to the nurse and doctor that help deliver his son walking over.
"Mark? Is everything okay, are Becky, and the baby okay." He sighs in relief as he is saved from losing his hearing. As Dan asks him about Becky, and the baby.
"Uh, Yeah there fine, Becky is sleeping right now, and he's fine and has a pair of lungs on him." Mark chuckles as he remembers just a few hours ago. Becky was asking him, gripping his hand in hers and asking about their baby. Till they heard crying, and the doctor told him that they were parents to a boy. "You guys can come down now, me and Becky just didn't want to ...well make a scene." He hears Dan laugh as he can hear more voices in the background.
"Alright, we will be there, you think they sell shirts with 'world's best biker grandpa'?" Dan jokes as he hangs up, running a hand over his hair. As he fixed the collar of his shirt, his jacket was still in the room. Keeping Becky warm, since he knows how much his wife loves his jacket.
"Mr. Healy?"
"Yeah."
"The baby and Mrs. Healy…." the nurse starts as the doctor goes over the charts of his patients.
"Is there something?" His voice is low, barely a whisper as a feeling of dread fills his mind, is something wrong with Becky and their son.
"No, nothing is wrong Mommy and son. Although I do think you should go to your wife and child. She's asking for you." The nurse laughs at the look of fear on the new father's face. Keeping her mouth shut as she notices as he glares at her.
"Take these to the front, and have them file it. And please stop delivering any news like that to anybody in the hospital."
Mark blinks, as Becky's doctor places his hand on his shoulder. "She's the reason half of our elderly patients almost have heart attacks."
"No kidding." Mark mutters as he can feel his heart pounding in his chest.
He walks over to the room Becky's in, "Hey." He whispers as he sits down in the chair. His wife, and his little boy, as he brushes his fingers through Becky's hair.
"Hey." Becky whispers it back, and he feels like he is falling in love with her all over again.
"Looks like all that sex wasn't for anything, huh." He jokes as Becky softly scolds him for saying that in front of their son.
"Mark." Becky scolds her husband as she smiles at the soft and loving look on his face. As she gingerly touches her son's face.
"Do you want to hold him?" She sits up wincing a bit, as she feels Mark reach behind to rub her back.
"Yeah, but take it easy sweetheart." She places their little boy in the safe arms of her husband, as she helps Mark adjust his arms.
"Hah, our kid, Becky." Mark muttered as he pressed his nose very gently against his son's forehead.
"Our sweet little boy."
"Our little Danny."
"Danny?"
"Well we did agree to name him after my dad. It will be weird to call him Dan, since that's Dad's nickname."
"Danny, huh. How do you like that kiddo, you like Danny, or Daniel…or Marcus? which is your middle name little guy." Mark softly whispers as he places him back in Becky's arms.
"Hunny, can you adjust the pillow at my back for me." He moves the pillow, making sure to notice if Becky is in any discomfort.
"Daniel Marcus Healy." She says as she noticed her baby boy opening his eyes. "Babe." Mark looks at her with wide eyes, as he leans over.
"He has your eyes." Mark whispers as those little baby blues peer at Becky and then at him.
"We can't be sure, maybe he will have your gorgeous blue-green eye color once he's a couple of months old."
"Naw, it's fine if he has your eye color...as long as he gets my looks." Mark teases as he kisses Becky's temple.
They turn as the door is opened, "I found them, mom." DJ yells as he goes back out to the hallway.
Mark gently rubs Becky's shoulders, "Stay Calm, Becks." As they watch as the rest of the family file into the room.
"I would have liked to have been here….." Roseanne started as she narrowed her eyes at Mark. Mark barely spared a glance at his fuming mother-in-law, more focused on Danny.
"Now, Roseanne just let it go and look at how cute…." Jackie gestured to the newborn in Becky's arm.
"Daniel Marcus Healy." Becky said it outloud glancing around the room. Feeling Mark squeeze her shoulder, as Danny moved his little hands. She smiled as she saw the proud look on her husband's face.
"Daniel?"
"You named your kid after dad?" DJ questioned his sister.
"Are you crying Mr. Conner?" Dan rubbed his eyes, as David asked if he was crying.
"No, just something in my eyes."
"Do you want to hold him, Dan?" Mark asks as he walks over to his father-in-law.
"Heh, sure." The older man responded as he walked over to his daughter, and grandson.
"Narcissistic of you guys. To make his middle name well basically Mark's name." Darlene snarked, as she gave Becky a smile.
"His middle name is Marcus."
"I was thinking of making his middle name Maurice." Mark smirked as David gave him a look, "Kidding Davo, Marcus has a nice ring to it."
Roseanne walked over to stand closer to Dan who was holding their grandson. Looking at her oldest who looked tired, "You did great Rebecca. Alright Dan, it's my turn to hold the newest Conner in the world."
"Healy! Newest Healy, mother." Becky stated as she leaned back into the pillows at her back. Clutching Mark's jacket close, as she turned towards her husband.
"I get to hold him the longest Rosie, after all he's named after me."
As Mark sat down in the chair that he has been sitting in since they got to the hospital. Smiling as Becky cradled his cheek in her palm. "Baby, get our baby before they make him cry." Clasping her hand in his, as he kissed her knuckles.
"Of course, Sweetheart." Mark gently pressed a kiss to Becky's cheek. Standing up, and turning towards his in-laws, "Becky's tried, and I'm pretty sure Danny's hungry."
"Oh, nonsense…"
The blonde sighed, "Mother, please. I want my son back in my arms."
"Alright." Roseanne handed over Danny to Mark, "Your arm…" Mark gently rocked his son, "don't worry I got it. I know how to hold a baby..." Mark reassured his mother-in-law, "...there you go, buddy. Back with mommy." Danny gave a small whimper, but settled down once in Becky's.
David smiled as he watched his brother, with his nephew. "I do think it's best that we all head back home." He piped up as Jackie nodded her head.
"Yes, we will all get to see Danny, and have turns fawning over him once Becky, and the baby are discharged." Jackie gave Becky a smile as she gently squeezed her niece's arm.
Dan ushered everybody out of the room, even a protesting Roseanne, as he glanced over at Becky, Mark, and Danny.
"Take care of them, Mark, and get some rest."
"I will." The dark haired male said as he laid his head against his arms.
It's been an hour since her family, and David left. Leaving her, and Mark with some peace, and quiet just the way they liked it. Glancing from her son sleeping in her arms, to her husband who knocked out, and was mumbling her name in his sleep.
