Rorra sat on the Tower steps, patiently awaiting the arrival of her teammate, Calli.
In the beginning, she and Calli didn't get along, she was quick-tempered, and he was stubborn as ever, but through several missions together, they found they made an unstoppable team.
Their last mission was proof of that, they had ventured through an area of Venus not many other Guardians had been to and been able to return from, she had been careless and charged into a cave, unaware to the dangers inside and was grateful Calli was there to save her life.
Her mind wandering through her thoughts of that day had made her unaware that an Exo in traditional armor had appeared before her.
"Rorra, you day-dreaming again?" He spoke with a playful tone, waving his hand in front of her face.
"Not at all, I was just waiting for you," She replied, shaking the memories from her head.
She glanced up to see her teammate silhouetted by the midday sun.
"Well, what was so important you had to call me back from Earth? From a very important scouting mission, I might add," Calli continued, perching beside her on the steps.
"I have a mission and I need your help, it's extremely urgent, the Speaker himself asked me to accept it. Naturally I said yes, and he asked that I seek a friend to help," Rorra explained glancing up at Calli.
"Naturally. What sort of mission?"
"The Vanguard has received transmissions from a Guardian on Mars, she lost her fire-team when the Cabal ambushed them, they were badly outnumbered…"
"Though, somehow she managed to get away, only now she's lost and has no means of transportation back to the Tower," Rorra answered with a solemn look.
"So this is a search and rescue mission? Calli responded, a look of curiosity in his golden eyes.
"Yes, it is,"
"In that case, let's go!" Calli said excitedly, summoning his ghost to bring them to orbit.
"So, where to?" Calli asked once they had landed on Mars, near the Barrens.
"I have one of the last transmissions from the Speaker from that Guardian, here…" Rorra said summoning her Ghost.
The strange little machine whirred as it floated before them, a garbled voice echoing from it.
"Hello? I don't know where… Somewhere near… Buried city…" the voice suddenly cut out.
"Buried city?" Calli asked glancing out across the endless sands.
"This should be interesting," Rorra grinned as she called on her Sparrow, jumping on it.
Calli jumped onto his Sparrow and they whizzed off across the sand dunes, zigzagging around the rock formations.
Off in the distance were Cabal and Vex battling one another, ammo from their weapons flying through the air.
Rorra signaled for Calil to slow his approach, not wanting to be spotted by the enemies.
"Wanna bother getting mixed up in their pissing contest?" She called as Calli flew his Sparrow near hers.
"Not right now, let's worry about that lost Guardian first," He replied.
"We'll take care of them later!" He called as he sped off towards their destination.
They sped through a tunnel of collapsed buildings, sand flying up behind their Sparrows as they rushed towards the Buried city.
As they reached the other side of the tunnel, they spotted several Cabal patrolling the area.
A small group of Legionaries stood watch over the entrance to a collapsed building while several Phalanxes formed a living shield around a large Centurion.
"Come on, we have a way to go," Calli said, speeding off through the enemies.
Rorra sped off after him, fighting her sudden urge to stay behind and take out a couple Cabal for the fun of it.
They soon reached the other side of the city, the ruins of a once bustling subway station glistening in the sun.
Vex Goblins and Harpies swarming the area, their glowing red eyes making them stand out against the sandy landscape.
Rorra summoned her Ghost, letting it float out a ways from her as it emitted a blue light as it scanned for any sign of the Guardian.
"There's Light in the lower levels of the station, but it's dim…" the Ghost spoke floating around to look at Rorra, it's voice filled with concern.
"Come on, Calli," She said, gesturing for him to follow her.
She flew off towards the station, Calli not far behind her as they flew past the Goblins and Harpies that were rather oblivious to their presence among them.
Dismounting their Sparrows, they cautiously made their way into the abandoned subway, their Ghosts lighting the way through the immense darkness.
"I've always hated this place, I can get past the dark but it's not seeing the enemies that gets to me, ya' know?" Rorra admitted as they urged forward.
The familiar mechanical whine echoed off the walls around them, alerting them to the Vex hidden in the shadows where their lights couldn't reach.
Rorra began searching for the eerie red glow from the Vexs' eyes in the dark.
"Stay alert," She warned as she grabbed her Pulse rifle off her back, gripping it tight in her hands.
"I know you're there, waiting in the dark… Planning your attack, come on out!"
Two Goblins stepped out from their hiding place; their jaws open as they emitted a whirring screech.
Rorra opened fire, hitting them in their weakest spot as they collapsed to the ground.
"Come on!" She exclaimed as she darted off through the dark, running past several Vex hidden in the dark, Calli quick on her heels.
Blasting stray Vex as they went, Rorra and Calli descended further down into the station.
"I'm picking up the Guardian's Light," Calli's Ghost spoke, shinning its light towards the end of the subway tunnel.
"I see a light by that subway car," Rorra said pointing out a faint blue light in the distance.
Calli and Rorra took off towards the light, suddenly stopping in their tracks at the sight of a body lying in a pile of rubble.
Calli's Ghost scanned the Guardian's body.
"She's still alive!" the Ghost shouted.
Rorra knelt down beside the Guardian, gently shaking her.
The Guardian slowly woke from her unconscious daze, looking up at Rorra and Calli.
"Where am I?" She asked sitting up slowly.
"Mars, in the Buried city… Do you remember anything that happened to you?" Rorra answered, helping her to her feet.
"I remember being ambushed by Cabal, but I don't remember how I ended up down here," She answered, rubbing the back of her head.
"We're here to help you back to the Tower," Rorra began, offering her hand to the other Guardian.
