Night leads to mistakes, maybe it's because people are more tired and less logical or maybe because they feel that, in the dark, taboos can be broken...

A day like any other, Gold went to Oak's lab after he carelessly broke his pokedex for letting it fall in water and then trying to adjust it himself hitting it. Obviously, Crys was there and he had to heard her scolding him for his irresponsibility. Her hair looked more upward than usual and, even he that wasn't the most sensible of guys, could tell that she was particularly stressed that day, so much that he restained himself from doing an obvious jokes about her being on that time of the month.
Waiting for his for poxedex to be repaired, he watched her back while she was working, resisting to the urge to sneak behind her to untie her ponytails. In all those years he had never seen her with her hair untied.
-Gold!- she recall him turning abrutly in his direction.
What had he done now? For one time he was being quiet, sitting there doing anything. Maybe, had she acquired the ability to read in thought?
-What?- he asked innocently.
-Your foot.
Only then, when he looked down, he realized that he was banging loudly his foot and immediately, he stopped it.
-I can't focus- she said and resumed her work while a new thought crossed his mind. When did it happened that being alone with her made him nervous?
He didn't give it much weight and seeked around something that could entertain him, but in that lab there wasn't anything besides sheets and machines that seemed complicated to use. He was bored, but still, he remained on that chair, even he didn't know what was he really waiting for, he could have picked up his pokedex the next day.
He rose his eyes to the window, it was already dark and he had barely time to think "rain" that in the lab everything electric suddenly shut off. He couldn't hear anymore the the slight buzz of the computers and the only sound that remained was the rain drops against the windows and a lonely thunder.
-No!- Crystal wailed and rose up so abruptely that her chair fell on the te floor.
-Crys!- the voice of professor Oak came from the other room. - Did the light go away there too?
She got out of her frozen state and answered. -Yes!
After a while, the professor appeared on the door and, just then, the light came back only to switch off again but in that fraction on time, he was able to check on his wrist watch.
-I did't realize it was so late- he said and noticed Gold in the dark just because he moved. -Uh? You're still here.
-Why that surprised tone?- he retorted and the light was back again.
-Well… You're being quiet- he answered and turned to the girl who was once again frozen in front of the black screen of the computer. -Crys, are you alright?
She looked at the professor and forced a smile. -It's nothing.
Liar, Gold thought, but he must have whispered that because they turned to watch him and again the the electric current went out again.
-Well, I don't think we can continue to work in these conditions- professor Oak said. -Gold, you'll have to wait for your pokedex.
With a sigh, the boy rose up from the chair and noticed that Crystal wasn't still moving but the professor preceded him. -Crys, aren't you going home?
-In a while- she responded. -I want to confirm that the file I was working on is safe.
-Okay, but don't overwork- the professor said putting on his jacket and he left after saluting them.
Crystal barely heard him, still waiting for the computer to switch on again.
-Well, I'm going too!- Gold said out loud but she ignored him. It was worse than being scolded.
He walked near her and leaned on the desk. -Come on, no need to worry, either if it is safe or lost, there's nothing you can't do about.
She turned with angry eyes. -It's easy for you to say! You never worry about anything!
He didn't want to discuss, so he said nothing and started wandering between the rooms. He opened the front door to check how much water was pouring. Even if he had an umbrella, the storm was too strong now, as if Kyogre awokened again and then, he didn't liked the idea to leave Crys in that state, even if she was tetchy. He started again to walk aimelessly through the lab and he tried to entertain himself by throwing staples with an elastic band. One of the staples even hit something and he heard something broke, luckly, Crystal didn't notice.
He felt like a father waiting for his child's birth but, again, he was asking himself, what was he waiting exactly? Eventually, he sit and realized that his foot was beating again and stopped only when he fell asleep.

He woke up when a light bothered his eyes. It took him few moments to realize where he was. He straightened up, his neck hurted but at least the storm calmed down and the electric current seemed stable so now Crystal could have controlled if her work was safe. He dragged his feet in the other room and he was taken aback in seeing the girl lying on the desk. He watched the clock; it was midnight, still, it was surprising considering how she was.
He pondered what should have he done, if let her sleep or woke her up so she could finally verify the conditions of her work. He bet she is still thinking about it in her sleep.
Trying to not woke her up, he turned on the computer in front of her and, while waiting, he glanced down at the girl, observing the gentle rise and fall of her shoulders. Her lips looked so soft that he wished to brush them with his fingers and he almost fell in the temptation to untie her hairs if the sound of the computer booting didn't dissuaded him. On the screen appeared a copy of the file that was closed abruptly and only then he realized that Crystal was the only one that could see when the last auto saving happened and how much of it she had lost.
He considered to woke up her again but, while considering what to do, he changed her desktop background with a photo of a male bidoof's rear, it was a silly thing to do but he thought it was funny anyway. He had just done it when he heard a hum under him. Quickly, he opened the file she was working on to hide the background and he felt her head brush againt his chest as she rose up.
Her eyes met his, then she suddenly remembered about her work and looked at the screen with panic.
-Don't worry, it's all there…-he said straightening up. -I think, at least.
Holding her breath, she checked the file and then sighed in relief. -There is everything.
-I told you, no need to worry!
He was already ready to finally leave when he stare at her starting to type on the keyboard again. He turned her chair and face her.
-Ehi! You can't be serious!- he snapped at her face. -It's midnight!
She looked at the clock on the wall and then looked back at him. -I just have to finish a thing.
-You'll do it tomorrow- he declared reaching for the mouse.
-Stop it Gold!- she protested and tried to stave him off pushing his chest.
While the computer was turning off, she resort on a kick but he blocked it grabbing her leg. He stared her in the eyes with a serious look. Realizing their position and closeness, her breath stopped.
-Can't you see how much you're stressing out?- he said almost shouting.
-Why do you care?- she asked.
-Because…- his words trailed off when his finger winced and he realised how soft was the skin behind her knee and his eyes traveled down. She was wearing shorts under her yellow skirt.
Suddenly, the lights turn off again, there was a flash and then a thunder. His grasp loosened felt her leg withdraw from it.
-Seems like I was right- he said smiling victoriously. -If you had started working again, you would have started again to worry.
Now it was too dark and he couldn't see her face even if they where inches apart, he had his hands on both side of her chair, trapping her there. He could hear her soft breath and the faint rustle of her clothes.
Both his feets where glued on the ground, he wasn't feeling the urge to beat them against the floor. Now he knew what he was waiting for.
He rose one of his hand and his fingers brushed the soft skin of her cheek and he felt her jolt under his touch.
-Gold?- she murmured.
He leaned down but stopped halfway feeling her shrink, but the backrest blocked her. He bit his lip and, reluctant, he backed away, but then, she surprised him cupping his cheeks. He froze and the time seemed to be doing the same, even she seemed surprised by her actions but then, she guided him to her lips.
That wasn't their first kiss. The first time happened on a ship just before arriving to the battle frontier. She was nervous and, part because he wanted to distract her, part because he wanted to accomplished something he had wished for so long before a potentially deadly battle, he did it. He didn't met the resistance he expected but then she protested about how that wasn't the right time and that they had other things to worry about but the boy took it as a good thing that she didn't complained about the kiss itself; but, when was the right time? He wasn't sure why his instinct told him to act that night, maybe he felt her weakness that night but he tried to repress that hateful thought and convince himself that it was just because he wanted her to feel better.
Her lips were soft and sweet and he smelled a faint scent of coffee. It wasn't a short lived kiss and it left them breathless, the only noise they could hear was their panting.
He still had his hands on the armrest of the chair and it was was becoming a bit unconfortable, while she lowered her hands from his cheeks to his neck and shoulders, he could feel her uncertainty through them, like if she was still ponderind her next actions instead to let her body takes what it wanted. He saw the doubts in her eyes as well when the light came back. He straightened up, her hands slipped from his shoulders and he walked to the switch on the wall, then he turned back to look at her with a subtle smile on his lips.
-In the dark you can commit mistakes, no one can see- he whispered pressing the switch.
The last thing she saw were his narrowed golden eyes before darkness pressed on hers again.
After a while, she heard Gold's steps but he had stopped halfway her and the wall; he was waiting her next move.
It was not as if he was pushing her or anything, nevertheless she was feeling cornered. She was fighting an interior battle between her reasonable part, that was telling her to go away, and the other that wanted to taste his lips again, aware to what it could lead to.
She rose on her feet, her legs were shaking, but it was alright, it' not as if someone could see it. She stretched out her arm and eventually her fingertips felt the soft fabric of his sweatshirt. He rose his hand as well and interwhined his fingers with hers. Her heart was beating so fast that she thought he could hear it. He lowered his head and, in that way, they where just few inches apart, so near that they could feel the humid breath of the other on the skin. At the sam time, they closed the distance between them, initially with still timid kisses but, as they went on, they were becoming more passionate.
Darkness was helping Crystal, as if not being able to see her action erased her restraints and, somehow it canceled even the tomorrow with all its worries. It was as if she was a psycho type and that darkness her weakness.
She placed her hand on his nape and his hat fell off but he didn't mind as he reached for her back, letting their hips touching.
As the kiss was heating up, she felt his tongue on her lips and she parted them, allowing him to explore her mouth.
When their divided to catch their breaths, she felt one of his hand on the side of her head.
-What are you doing?- she murmured.
-I want to see your hair loose- he answer, proceeding in untie one of her ponytail.
-But you can't see- she said again.
-It doesn't matter. Maybe some things are meant to remain uknown.
He reached for her other ponytail, but she prececed him, unting it her herself. He chuckled faintly and let his fingers ran through her silky hair and, accidentaly at first, he grazed her neck.
He kissed her again and she throw both of her arms around his neck as his lips traveled down, nibbing her neck's skin. Her moans increased but he wanted her louder.
Slowly, as if he wanted to pass unnoticed, his fingers went up from her back to her chest. He waited for her reaction but he felt only her fingers bend on his shoulders, gripping his sweatshirt, and, through the thin fabric, he caressed her bosom with more decision.
He felt her boby more and more relaxed, she abandoned all her inhibitor brakes and her hands glided down and then sneaked under his sweatshirt. There still was his t-shirt between her hands and his bare skin, but she felt the pleasant warmth of his body. She even he felt his lips curl into a smile when they returned to kiss hers.
-Do you want to get more comfortable?- he said. -It's too late to return home.
An allarmed ring sounded again in her head, repeating her that this wasn't how she wished things to go but another part said that she should have thought about the consequences earlier, got to this point their , relationship had already become awkward.
When he backwarded, she already missed his warmth and his hand on her breast.
Gold was searching something in the dark and refused to turn the light on, fearing that it would have interrupted watever spell they were under. Eventually, he found what he was looking for, her futorn, that she kept there for when she had to work till late. He laid it on the ground feeling his blood flow in his lower parts.
Crystal remained where he left her, it was almost as if, in that deep silence, he could hear her thoughts and her interior conflict.
Then, his foot moved again on his own, starting to knock on the ground. He forced it to stop and and got angry to himself. Was he nervous as well, or just impatient?
He clenched his teeth and felt the vein on his neck throbbing fast underneath the skin.
He heard her slow steps, or, maybe, they were slow just in his mind as he felt his impatience growing. She stopped in front of him. He stood still while her hands went up form his chest to his face. She caressed his cheeks with her dainty hand and she rose on her feet tips to land a kiss on his lips. The boy pulled her near and a moan escaped from her mouth against his lips. Then, he placed his hands on her shoulders and he let them glided down her arms till her hands. He guiderd her on the futon and, without letting go of her hands, he sit and she followed him placing herself on his lap. He grabbed the collar of her lab coat and, with her collaboration, slide it down her shoulders.
As their lips were united again, he placed his hands on her hips, sneaking his thumbs under the edge of her shirt while she unzipped his sweatshirt.
He rose her shirt, leaving her flat and smooth belly exposed. Eventually, he take it off her competely. He ran his fingers on her bra, wondering its colour before removing it as well, allowing his fingertips to roam freely her breats. Her nipples were swollen and, descending through her neck, his lips lowered to them.
As she felt his tounge on her skin, Crystal's body winced and her breaths increased. He rose his eyes on her, wondering if hers were closed. Her hands lifted the shirt on his back and he felt her figernails on his bare back. He felt a shiver across his spine and panted against her breasts, then he let her remove his shirt completely and explore his torso.
He pushed her down so now he was lingering above her but, even in that darkness, he could feel her eyes locked in his own. She gave him her silent consent, saying nothing while he was removing her skirt and her shorts.
He felt her legs brushing his sides while he leaned down to kiss her one more time before taking off his pants. At that point, almost all obstacles were gone, ony two remained: the thin fabric around their hips and a feeble voice his mind telling him that he was still in time to stop, he wouldn't have been able to deal with the aftermath if he had decided to go all the way. He ignored it's own warnings as his hand traveled down to her core.

The storm was completely gone and the morning light came through the windows. Outside, the birds were chirping. Crystal woke up and, rising her torso, the blanket slip down, exposing her bare chest. She watched down at her side. Gold was there, sleeping face down with one arm on her waist.
She had no time to weigh what had happened that she heard the entrance door opening. Quickly, she shook him by the shoulders ordening him to wake up. He hummed while she rose on her feet dressing frantically and tying her hair.
Gold was still half awake and she she lightly kicked him. He was about to complain when he heard the noises coming from the other room.
She collected all of his clothing, pushed them in his arms and forced him to hide.
-Move!- she hissed forcing him toward an hiding place. He did it just in time before professor Oak appeared on the door.
-Crys, you're already here- he exclaimed surprised.
She locked his eyes with hers to not let them wandering through the room and she kicked the futon to move the blanket to cover a blood stain on it.
-Good morning professor.
The man seemed to noticed that something was off but didn't say anything, but just asked: -Did you slept here again?
She nodded forcing a smile. -I wanted to finish.
He didn't seemed fully convinced. -You left the door open.
-I'm sorry, it won't happen again.
The man left the room and Gold came out from his hiding place as quietly as possible, but she seemed to think he was louder than an Exploud judging by the fierce look in her eyes.
While the girl checked on professor Oak, he dressed himself and Crystal gestured to him to head for the exit but he stopped looking at her back, still thinking what a pity was that he didn't succeded in seeing her untied hair sprawled on the pillow.
-Gold!- she called him back to reality and he headed for the exit.
Once the door was closed, the girl leaned against it and sighed. Now that the dark was gone, she was back in herself, and it was suffocating, but that wan't the right time to think about it, diving into work would have helped her. She sat down at her desk, turned of her computer and failed right away at her purpose of keeping Gold off her mind when she saw the image on her screen.

Later, that day, Gold came to take back his pokedex and noticed that professor Oak was alone.
-Where's Crys?- he asked.
-I sent her home earlier- the professor said handling him his pokedex. -Gold, be careful.
By his coldness, Gold could tell he had intuited something and the boy couldn't tell to what he was referring to with that warning but he he didn't pause to think about it too much.
He had been feeling light and with his ming clear all day; so, that was the feeling to accomplish the thing you longed the most. Nevertheless, a remote part on his brain was bugging him but yet again, he didn't like to delve in thought too much and simply enjoyed his body relaxed state.
However, as time goes by, that annoying feelings didn't leave him and he couldn't ignore it any longer.

Author's note:

It's my first attempt to write something similar, I hope you liked it and that the characters weren't too OOC and that I've selected the right genres
