Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or Percy Jackson and the Olympians, this is just a way to distract myself from what is going on.
Backstory: Harry Potter died in the Chamber of Secrets. The Fates and Thanatos did not allow Fawkes to revive him, so the Basilisk venom spread throughout his body. That will be explained more as the story continues. Other mythologies, like Egyptian and Norse, will be touched upon but will not be the same like how it is in Rick Riordan's world. Percy Jackson and the Olympians will also have subtle changes, as with a new player things are bound to change. The repercussion of Harry's death will be touched upon. Read to find out more.
Hades always thought he was an honorable god.
He always tried to keep his word, even if he despised every second of it, he kept it. It made him proud, when he could keep his word to such a degree, as he knew that his younger brothers had difficulty with it. Zeus already had a child roaming the world, which was no surprise seeing as Zeus was often lax in his affairs.
Poseidon, on the other hand, seemed rather distracted as of late. Hades simply turned the other cheek for him, bearing no grudge against him. It was Zeus who will garner the heat of his rage, the force of his ire, it will be him to taste the loss of something dear.
But right now, he had another problem to attend to.
Henry RenaƮtre was born in July, in Nice, France. His mother was a CEO of something related to fashion, Hades not bothering to look into it. Irene RenaƮtre was only his lover of one night, one night in spring that only partially filled his need for companionship.
Now, he was in a simple bedroom meant for a child. It was nighttime, the child's mother sleeping in the room across the hall, surely tired due to being a single mother. Hades felt grateful that Irene didn't seem to mind that the child was without a father, for that would have only complicated things more.
Hades didn't really know how she would react to her child being his offspring.
He was usually so careful if he did take to mortal lovers. The thought of that one night stand turning into something like this never crossed his mind. Though, he mused as he stared down at his slumbering child, there wasn't much use to reminiscing about that now.
Now, he had to plan. Now, he had to decide.
What to do about this?
The simplest of options was to kill this child. But Hades was nothing if not fair. Killing a baby who had done nothing to earn his scorn seemed rather unreasonable. Especially when the baby didn't ask to be born in the first place. A nagging feeling in the back of his head, worse than Demeter on her bad days, also seemed to whisper to him, telling him to let this child live. At least, until he can find how this will affect the way of things.
Perhaps this child will help bring about the respect Hades and his offspring deserve? Instead of being scorned for something beyond their control, beyond reason, and being portrayed as something cruel?
That thought seemed to appeal to Hades, enough to let him decide to let his child live. Maybe this was fate? A reason for Henry's untimely birth, for him to be born to live with a heavy prophecy hanging over his head?
The baby squirmed suddenly, Henry's mouth opening and sucking in a deep breath. It was released in a harsh rush, and the baby, fretfully, woke. Hades own dark eyes were met with a startling green pair, so ethereal that it didn't even seem mortally possible.
Yes, Hades thought, as the baby squirmed under his gaze, perhaps this child will bring about something great.
"Rest, my child," Hades murmured, the child looking close to panicking. Trying not to feel insulted, Hades continued. "You have such a fate ahead of you." The words seemed to make Henry pause, if only for a moment, to stare at him with those bright eyes.
As the child finally started to cry, Hades stepped back into the shadows of the room. They ebbed and welcomed him, letting him melt easily with them. He vanished as the child's mother rushed into the room, eyes hooded and clumsy.
Hades hoped he would not come to regret letting his newest demigod child live.
Thank you for reading. Leave any criticism/improvements in the comments and I will try to respond to them. This will also most likely be posted on my AO3 account, since it's there as a drabble already.
