Plagg was pissed. He would have cataclysmed that Rossi girl personally if he knew he could get away with it and not out Adrien as Cat Noir. After all, Liar Rossi, as he now officially dubbed her, had taken it too far by getting Marinette expelled from school. Sure, Adrien had convinced her to undo it, but at the great personal cost of him having to put up with the little lying bitch. Making her wish she was never born was now Plagg's official pet project.
Adrien held up the Ace of Hearts and Plagg focused on it. Releasing his cataclysm, he split the card in two diagonally... careful to cut it away from the corner Adrien was holding onto. With Adrien's help, Plagg had gotten much better at controlling his cataclysm outside of the miraculous... provided he kept his emotions in check, learned from the time he nearly took Adrien's fingers off from cataclysming a card while mentally picturing it was Liar Rossi.
As long as he could keep a level head, Plagg knew he could get away with tormenting the object of his hatred. She had the audacity of actually showing up for another modeling gig with Adrien that summer. While Adrien and that girl were getting their makeup done, Plagg moved their chairs in front of the swimming pool... and waited patiently.
Adrien emerged from makeup... followed quickly by Liar Rossi trying to hang on his arm. The photographer wasn't ready yet, so Adrien quickly made for the chairs. As soon as Plagg knew which chair Adrien was going to sit in, he concentrated hard and cut mostly through one leg of the other chair. Adrien sat down quickly, and she followed suit trying to stay as close to him as possible. As soon as she plopped into the chair, the leg broke completely, sending her straight into the swimming pool... ruining the dress and makeup she had just spent an hour getting perfected.
After Adrien moved quickly to fish her out of the pool, she ran off in huff. As soon as Adrien felt she was out of earshot, he left out a deep laugh. Adrien looked around and found Plagg smirking in a nearby bush. The photographer came running from the direction Lila had went and grabbed his phone, calling Nathalie to get instructions.
Adrien looked back at Plagg. Plagg knew he was worried the photoshoot would get canceled and he'd have to do it another time. Plagg spotted a familiar face in the crowd that had gathered to watch the photoshoot. He pointed to her and Adrien followed his direction, looking over and seeing Marinette. Adrien ran over to her and practically begged her to help out.
After a bit of coercion, Plagg could see Marinette nod before Adrien whisked her over to the photographer. Plagg noted to himself that Adrien still hadn't let go of Marinette's hand after reaching the photographer... a point he was definitely going to tease his poor, oblivious holder about mercilessly once they were home. Marinette signed something and was then hurried away to get dressed and have makeup done.
Adrien sat back down near the bush Plagg was hiding in. "Thanks, Plagg. I appreciate you pointing her out. At least we won't have to reschedule." Adrien smiled and Plagg knew he was thinking about Marinette. He watched as Adrien played with his phone about half an hour, until Adrien looked up and his mouth dropped open. Plagg followed his gaze to what he knew Adrien was looking at... Marinette. Plagg was going to enjoy teasing this boy tonight.
The photoshoot went well, and actually ended fairly quickly as there were very few photographs that needed retakes, unlike what surely would have happened if the liar had participated. At home, Plagg caught Adrien looking through the photographs from the shoot. Adrien had made a habit of looking through them to see if he wanted to post any to Instagram that weren't otherwise useable. He found a specific picture where the background was slightly out of focus.
Plagg floated up next to Adrien as he studied the picture on his computer. "Pigtails certainly looks like she's in love. Don't you think?"
"She... does!" Adrien's eyes widened at the realization. Wracking his brain for an explanation, he finally uttered the absolute one thing Plagg knew was eventually going to come out of his mouth. "She must've been thinking about Luka." Plagg would've slapped his forehead, but his arms were too short.
"Okay then... Who were you thinking about that made you look like you're in love?"
Adrien looked at himself and then at Marinette. He couldn't deny their expressions were similar. "I... I don't know. I was probably so happy to be doing it with Marinette instead of Lila, that it must've just looked like I was in love."
Plagg just shook his head. "Then how come you didn't let go of Marinette's hand after you practically pulled her over to the photographer?"
"That? Oh uh... I guess I was just scared she'd get spooked and run away. She is pretty flighty sometimes."
"Well, I can't deny that. She does have a tendency to run away from you sometimes."
Adrien frowned. "I wish I knew why."
Plagg simply thought to himself: You poor, blind fool. The answer is literally staring you in the face.
Adrien's phone dinged and he looked at it. It was time for fencing. "Come on Plagg. We've got to go." Plagg flew into Adrien's jacket.
As Plagg waited inside Adrien's locker, he contemplated how to get through that think skull of Adrien's. He knew that Ladybug's rejections were starting to take a real toll on him. Plagg was just hoping beyond hope that he could steer him towards Marinette.
The locker door opened, and Adrien smiled brightly at Plagg. "I've got great news." Plagg attempted to look disinterested. "Kagami is going to be at the movie premiere this weekend. Maybe it won't be as boring as I thought."
Great, Plagg thought to himself sarcastically. "I still don't understand why you like girls more than cheese."
Adrien just shook his head and gathered his belongings.
It was almost two months later, and everything had imploded. Adrien was with Kagami while Master Marinette was with Luka. Master Fu had lost his memory and left Paris. School was starting. Plagg hoped Liar Rossi was in at least one of Adrien's classes this year. Not because he wanted his kitten anywhere near that wench, but because he really needed to blow off some steam.
Plagg got his wish during the last period of the day. He had almost given up hope. But there she was... ripe for the taking. As usual, she had a herd of glassy-eyed followers hanging on her every word. Time to have some dessert... the cold kind named revenge, Plagg thought to himself with an evil smirk. Plagg cleared his mind and focused, as soon as the liar got to the bottom of the stairs and was heading up to her seat, he cataclysmed the elastic on her shorts... causing them to fall down around her ankles and trip her. She fell hard... harder than Plagg intended, not that he was planning on apologizing for it either way.
All the girls in class gasped, including Marinette, while the guys... sans Adrien, because he's too good for this world... laughed riotously. Adrien, ever the gentleman... even to those who should be his mortal enemies... helped her up. She quickly pulled up her shorts to hold them around her waist, but not before Kim pointed out rather loudly, "Is that a picture of Adrien on your panties?"
Lila and Adrien both turned beet red. Adrien knew his image showed up in lots of weird places... but it was still embarrassing to think his picture was... there... of all places. He didn't like the thought of it and would probably get physically ill later that evening once he had the opportunity to do it without upsetting the liar any more than she already was.
Lila ran out of the room crying. Adrien walked out a bit more slowly, still in quite a bit of shock. He mumbled to the teacher, "I'll be right back after I compose myself." The teacher just nodded sympathetically. As far as everyone else in the class was concerned, it had been a tragic accident. Adrien knew better. After getting a drink of water and finding a place no one would hear him, he opened his jacket and glared at Plagg. "Not cool, Plagg. That was WAY out of line. It's one thing to send her into a swimming pool, it's something entirely different to embarrass her in that way."
Plagg replied as nonchalantly as possible. "She's lucky she's still alive after what she did to Pigtails at the end of school last year. Whatever I do to her is well deserved. She's lucky I haven't cataclysmed a step out from under her at the top of the stairs. If she wants to claim she fell down the stairs, I can certainly do that for her."
"Plagg! No! I agree she needs to stop. I agree she went too far. But that doesn't give you the right to go too far either."
"Look, kid. I'm the kwami of destruction. I destroy things. It's kinda the only thing I'm good at... besides eating cheese. I can't do anything to expose her lies... so I have to exact revenge on her the only way I know how."
"I understand you're trying to get even on her for what she did to Marinette. I'm not opposed to her getting a little justice. But there are boundaries... and you crossed a big one today."
"It's not like anyone but you and I know it wasn't an accident."
"Plagg! I'm serious. Nothing that could potentially hurt her."
"Okay fine. But she's still in my crosshairs."
A few days later, and Lila finally returned to class. She arrived before everyone else and sat in her seat quietly... trying not to draw any attention. Plagg knew she was the first one there, because Adrien was the second one there. Adrien walked up to her desk and said, "I'm sorry for what happened the other day."
"It's okay," Liar Rossi replied. "It's not your fault."
"Still. I know it was really embarrassing for you. That's something no one wants to have happen... it's the stuff of nightmares after all. It's not surprising you got akumatized again because of it."
"Thank you for your concern... but I'll be fine. I've... burned them anyway. So... it can't happen again."
"Look, Lila. I know you've been interested in me since you first came to school here. But... I'm not interested. My heart lies elsewhere. I'm in a relationship now with Kagami anyway. I'd be more than happy to be your friend... but you've got to stop lying so much. It only hurts everyone... including you. You might not realize that right now. It might even seem like everything's going great. But eventually, it will come back to bite you... and hard."
Lila yelped and rubbed her leg. They looked and found two small punctures on her leg. "W-What was that? Something just bit me!"
Adrien rubbed the back of his neck. "I-It mus-t've been an insect... or maybe a spider. Perhaps you should go have the nurse take a look at it." Lila nodded and got up. Once she exited the room, Adrien called out. "Plagg!"
"Yeah?" came Plagg's reply from down at his desk. Adrien returned to his desk and opened his school bag.
"What did I tell you about hurting Lila?"
"You said her lying was going to come back to bite her. I just thought I'd oblige." Plagg took a hefty bite out of the cheese he was eating and looked like he hadn't done anything wrong.
"Why are you eating that now? It's for after a fight. What are you going to eat later today if there's an akuma?"
Plagg looked at Adrien lazily, answering with a full mouth as he sloshed the cheese around in his mouth. "Got to get rid of the taste. That liar tastes disgusting, utterly disgusting." Plagg followed it up with a shit-eating grin.
"You better hope your little stunt doesn't get her akumatized today... or I'll make sure you're hungry the rest of the day."
"It'll have been worth it." Plagg answered dryly.
Another week went by and Plagg didn't have any really good opportunities to play with his new toy. However, Liar Rossi had given him a present today... she came in wearing heels. She was back to having her groupies eating out of her hand... as if nothing had happened the week before.
Adrien was walking towards the locker room when he heard Lila yelp again. He turned and found Kim holding her up. Everyone was looking at her wide-eyed. he walked over to see what had happened. Max explained, "One of her heels broke. She was lucky Kim was standing behind her."
Adrien just nodded and walked off. The sound of Plagg snickering emanated from his jacket once everyone else was out of earshot. Adrien just shook his head and whispered to himself, "Plagg... What am I going to do about you?"
Plaggs muffled voice replied, "Hey! I didn't hurt her! That was the rule, right?"
Adrien sighed. "Yes, Plagg. That is the rule."
Plagg was pleased that the liar was now laying off Marinette. After all, with Adrien dating Kagami, Marinette was no longer seen as a potential love rival for Adrien's heart. The heels were just an added bonus today. Plagg's motivation to continue wreaking havoc on her was slowly starting to wane, but he wasn't quite finished with her. He figured if he could make today be a day she'd never forget... while not hurting her... he just might tire of playing cat and mouse with her. So, Plagg decided to follow her to her different classes. Adrien wouldn't be able to tell what happened until the last period... provided no one clued him in.
In first period, Plagg cataclysmed the valve in the sprinkler immediately above her. Water gushed straight down on her. She got so wet her clothes still weren't completely dry by the end of the day.
In second period, Plagg cataclysmed a tiny hole into the bottom of her beaker. The blue dye they were using for the science experiment dripped out so slowly and onto her still-wet shorts that she didn't noticed until it dawned on her that the level of the liquid in her beaker was getting lower.
In third period, Plagg detracted a full page in her history book she was supposed to be reading. The teacher was just as baffled as she flipped back and forth seeing the burned-out words on one side of the paper and nothing wrong with the other side.
At lunch, Plagg cataclysmed the inside of all her fries so that they looked normal on the outside but were ash on the inside. Plagg wished he had had a camera to capture the look on her face when she bit into that first fry.
In fourth period, Plagg cataclysmed one of her hair ties, causing her overly long, and still wet, banes to keep falling and sticking to her face. He could've sworn he heard the liar mumble to herself, "How on earth does Juleka put up with having half her face hidden like this?"
In fifth period, Plagg cataclysmed an ultra-thin layer on top of her wooden stool just before she sat down. it wasn't until she got up to leave that she realized she'd been smooshing ash into the back of her shorts.
In sixth period, Adrien beheld Lila enter the classroom, her hair and clothes were wet. One hair tie was missing, causing half of her face to be hidden by wet hair clinging to her face. The front of her shorts were blue, and the back were soot black. She did not look happy. As his gaze followed her, he could see everyone else looked just as perplexed at her state of being. "Plagg!" Adrien whisper yelled as quietly as he could into his jacket.
There was no reply. In fact, there was no kwami. Adrien looked around frantically until he spotted Plagg hiding in the bookcase at the back of the room. The look on Adrien's face was priceless. Plagg could tell instantly what he was thinking without even having to read his mind. He simply wore the look of someone praying to every deity he possibly could for Plagg to not do anything else to the girl. Plagg was not one to grant prayers.
Plagg cataclysmed the back of Lila's foxtail necklace, causing it to slip down the front of her blouse. She began dancing around like a maniac trying to get the necklace to fall out the bottom so she wouldn't have to go in through the top to retrieve it. Unfortunately for her, that was harder than it sounded given the dampness of her clothes. She finally huffed in defeat. Lowered her head and had shimmied it down just enough to where she could reach it from underneath without showing too much skin or having to reach so far up that it was questionable as to exactly where she was reaching.
Adrien just closed his eyes and shook his head slightly in disapproval. Liar Rossi just took her seat and prayed for something else to happen that would take the attention off of her. Marinette unknowingly provided said distraction as she ran into the room half a second before the bell rang.
Adrien threw his school bag onto his bed when he got home, causing Plagg to be forcefully ejected. "Plagg! What on earth?"
Plagg shook the dizziness out of his head before responding. "I promise, kid. Today was the last day. I just needed to get that last little bit of revenge out of my system."
"It'd better be! If you do anything like that again, I'm going to tell Ladybug what you've been doing. As the guardian now, I'm sure she'd have some choice words for you also."
Plagg raised his paws in surrender. "I promise. I swear. I've gotten it all out of my system Anything else that happens to that liar will not be because I did something to her... it'll be her own bad luck."
"It'd better not. Remember I can tell when it's you."
"I know you can... and I'll leave her alone from now on."
"I can't let today go unpunished. No cheese tonight."
"Adrien! Come on! I didn't hurt her. She didn't leave the school crying like the first time. It's nothing that can't be laundered out."
"I'm serious Plagg! No cheese tonight."
Plagg let out a pitiful moan and bowed his head. He floated over to the corner to sulk. Well... mostly sulk. After all... Plagg's parting gift to Liar Rossi after school was cataclysming any good luck she might've had, not that anyone could visibly see it. He wasn't the liar after all. Anything that happened to her from here on out was due to her own bad luck. Plagg just grinned to himself, knowing Adrien couldn't see it on his face.
