Percy Jackson and the Pegasus
Chapter One: The Fall of Camp Half-Blood
"Where can we go?! Where will it be safe?!" Annabeth cried out, tears threatening to stain her once fearsome grey eyes. Percy put a reassuring arm around her and held her close. She turned her head to his ripped orange shirt and tears rushed out of her eyes onto his shirt. Percy could not blame her, he was almost to tears himself, but the others needed him, Annabeth needed him. Percy, Annabeth, Nico, Piper, and Will stood in the forest, gazing at the ruined Camp Half-Blood. There had been an attack. Nico, Piper, and Will said they could not remember what happened. Percy and Annabeth just got back from college and had decided to stay at Camp Half-Blood for the holidays, when they saw Will and Piper treating Nico who got stabbed. Not even Percy had cracked a grin or made a joke. Thank Zeus it was Christmas, and most of the campers were with their families. Their powers were also very weak, along with the gods. That was why the monsters could get in, Zeus's barrier went down for a little less than a week. And monsters kept coming in unexpectantly, until finally getting the better of the few campers that stayed. What happened to all the God's powers was a mystery to everyone.
"I could try shadow-travel us to Camp Jupiter?" Nico said uncertainly. He tried to sit up, then screamed of the pain.
"You're not doing anything till I treat you properly." Will said firmly.
"But we can't get to Camp Jupiter on foot! It's on the other side of Manhattan, and we don't have any tools" Nico argued. The two bickered for a while before Piper said:
"Nico you're not well, besides it's not going to work. No magic has been working at all. We are not as strong or fast as we would usually be. We only have our "without god" skills. Will's healing, Annabeth's brains, Percy's way around New York, and your, well right now, stupidity." Nico glared at her for a moment, sighed, and grudgingly agreed.
"There's a truck there. We can drive to New York and see if we can get help." Percy decided. They all clambered into the car and Annabeth grabbed the wheel, trying to blink out the tears in her eyes. Percy turned around and stared at the shrinking strawberry fields. One day, they would return. One day, they would help Camp Half-Blood rise again.
