Summary: After graduating from UA, Todoroki was set on a path to be one of the greatest heroes. But a certain assignment puts his goal on hold when he is tasked to watch over cell 402. Expecting it to be a dangerous villain, he was surprised to see the detainee.

Prologue

The gloomy clock ticks

I'm depressed, it's depressing

-Gloomy Clock

It has always been cold.

Being stuck inside her small cell, the girl had forgotten the feeling of warmth. There was no way she could ever feel it again. Her room didn't have any windows and every hero who was assigned to watch her would always keep her cell cold. She couldn't help but chuckle softly, was this another thing she is bound to forget?

But something changed within that day. At first, she didn't feel the difference within the atmosphere of her cage. Maybe, it was because someone new was going to watch over her. Maybe this new hero has a different quirk from the last one but she was sure the cold would never leave. They believe the cold is one way of containing her power. After all, could flames exist in a cold breaking temperature?

The door to her cell opens and enters the former number one hero, All Might. Despite his shaggy appearance that is way different from what he looked like when she first saw him, she could still feel the residue of his power left in his body.

Her azure eyes caught the man behind the famous hero and she was surprised that they would let him watch over her prison cell.

Despite feeling the imminent coldness coming from his quirk, she felt something tingle her porcelain skin.

She stared at the man once again, trying to figure out what was this sensation that she was feeling. Was this part of his quirk?

When they were at a safe distance, the girl couldn't help but to hug her knees closer to her chest. Her previous guards would usually go all out when they first meet her. Intimidating her with the coldness of the quirks. She was used to the coldness but it doesn't mean it doesn't affect her. She closed her eyes waiting for it to happen. Waiting for the temperature to drop that no humans would be able to survive it. She was waiting but nothing happened. The temperature remained the same and the two figures were still standing in front of her.

"Ah… Young Miss, it's been awhile" All Might greeted her with a grin on his face. She looked up to him, unsure whether to greet him back or keep her mouth shut just like what she used to do.

Without any response from her, the former hero continued on with his introduction, "This is your new…" he trailed of thinking what word to describe the man beside him who had a peculiar appearance, "Someone who'll watch over you"

"His name is Todoroki Shoto"
