Once upon a time there was an island. It serves as a prison for the worst villains of all sorts of stories, and they're offspring. All sorts of baddie's live here. It's called the isle of the lost.
The villains who live on the isle include
A woman who kidnapped a baby girl and kept her in a tower for 18 years just to stay young and youthful forever.
A pawn shop owner who abused a little girl in order to find a large diamond.
A evil leader who lead a genocide all across China.
A corrupted judge who tried to burn a woman at the stake. All because he thought he was doing the work of god.
And a old whom cheated in a wizard duel with Merlin.
The sun was about to rise above the horizon over Aurodon. That meant it was time for a girl in a run down old building to wake up. It was the same day as per usual. The girl had to get out of bed to cook her mother breakfast. The girl of 14 opens the fridge with spiders inside. They skitter away when the lights come on.
"Typical" she thinks. The girl turns on the stove, it did not light up.
"Let's hope mother paid the gas bill this month" but it was summer so it was not a big deal. So the girl heads to her room to get a lighter her friend Sarina Yu gave her.
"Grace, you better be out of bed" an older sounding woman called out in a sing-song tone.
"I'm out of bed mother, the stove is not working Again" Grace tells her mother.
"Grace baby, you know momma does not eat raw egg"
"Yes mother I understand I don't eat raw eggs either, I was just about to light the stove" she explained.
"Very good Gracie, oh and by the way why arn't you dressed? and your hair is a mess" she scolds her daughter.
"Mother I just woke up, I was making you breakfast"
"I don't see breakfast Gracie, oh you stupid girl get dressed" the woman glares at Grace. Grace puts her head down in shame.
"Oh Grace I'm only kidding, your being a drama queen. Oh teenagers today so dramatic" the mother said in a playful way.
Grace still felt hurt either way so she kept trying to light the stove.
"DAMN IT mother why didn't you pay the bill again?" she huffs.
"DON'T YOU TALK TO ME LIKE THAT YOU UGLY GIRL" Mother Gothel snaps.
"But mother I-" Grace tried to speak up. Trying not to cry.
"Crying is a weakness, it gives you more trouble than it's worth" she was always told at home, school and on the street.
"Gracie I don't see you paying bills, well looks like we won't be having breakfast. I hope your happy" Mother Gothel fake cries.
"How is it my fault this time?" she thinks but knows she can't say it. Knowing good and well what she'll say.
"I'm sorry mother, I will remember to remind you to pay the bill" Grace tells her mother like a child who was caught stealing cookies.
"Very good Gracie, now go get dressed and go to Shan Yu's Dim Sum, it's your favorite. Get me those shrimp dumpling's and that fried garbage you like" Grace's mother instructs to her daughter.
"Yes mother" she nods as she is given the money.
"I'm not even going to ask how she got this" Grace mutters under her breath.
"Did I hear you say something?" the matriarch asked in a patronizing tone.
"Nothing mother I'll be leaving" Grace grabbed her bag, a purple canvas bag. Sewed on the pocket is a yellow flower.
Grace closed the door and went down the hall. Black spotty mold decorated the walls. The green carpet had blotches of yellow and orange stains seeping into the already soiled carpet. Sometimes Grace would play, Guess What The Funny Stain Is Shaped Like with her other friend Melody Mim. She lives in another building across the street.
"I guess Madam Medusa went on a drinking spree again" Grace told herself. Walking over the stains to make sure she does not get any on her shoes. They are already worn out as it is.
What is Graces crime? Her mother is the one who kidnapped a baby girl and kept her in a tower for keeping her young and beautiful. All Grace had to do was be born.
