Hello all! So this'll be my first fanfic and I hope that you lot will enjoy reading this story, as I've noticed there hasn't been any story that has America, England, and Russia within the same house or year. Which is why I took it upon myself to make one which has said three within one house and year, this will be pottertalia fanfic; so do expect the mention of Ollivanders and Hogsmeade and other places within the Harry Potter universe; oh and before I forget this will be Fem America pottertalia fanfic. Now let's get to it, shall we?
Chapter 1: Eleventh Birthday
It was a sunny and cheerful morning within the Jones-Williams' household, and reason for said cheerful morning is the eleventh birthday of Albert Jones' beloved daughter- Amelia F. Jones who is by now eligible to be a student of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; and of course just like any excitable parent said father is now busy preparing the things he needed for his' daughter's birthday party but not without the help of his other child- his son Matthew Williams, who happens to be older than Amelia by a year; that and he also happened to enlist the help of his sister-in-law Marianne Bonnefoy.
"Mattie, would you mind checking the cupcakes for a minute?" asked Albert who is by now busy making the sauce of the Creamy Chicken Carbonara to Matthew who is his' aunt's side helping her with some other dish they prepared for Amelia's birthday.
Said person who is over some other part of the kitchen looked at his' aunt first, "It's okay mon petit, go on and check on those cupcakes." said Marianne who happens to be busy in making some Cheesy Croissant Casserole- a French dish which happens to be her specialty dish for many special occasions.
"Okay dad, I'll go on and check on them." said Matthew leaving his aunt's side to go and make sure that the cupcakes are ready and not over baked. Opening the oven Matthew made sure that he some pot holder with him before grabbing the cupcake pan, and of course just like anyone who happens to have some knowledge about baking he grabbed some toothpick to know whether or not said dessert is ready to be taken out of the oven yet. Sticking the other end of the toothpick in the cupcake and... voila no bits of the cupcake on it.
"The cupcake's ready dad" said Matthew before taking out the freshly baked cupcakes from the oven, and setting them on the table so that they would get cooled and frosted, after that he returned to his aunt's side to help her with her dish.
"Thanks for checking the cupcakes, Matt." said Albert, who by now is done with the Carbonara's sauce and is now putting the pasta within the sauce's casserole; so that it'll be ready for the guests to just help themselves out.
Diagon Alley
"Well, is there anywhere you want to go to Amy?" asked Julianne to her daughter who happens to be carrying a bird's cage which happened to contain Amelia's present/new pet she affectionately named Andromeda, a beautiful eagle owl; which they have bought from Eeylop's Owl Emporium.
"Yeah, I wanna check something in Quidditch Supplies." said Amelia, looking up to her mother with a puppy dog eye look; something she uses whenever she wants things to go her way. A secret weapon which never failed her for as long as she remembered, "No, you will not go there. Besides you're not even allowed to be in a quidditch team just yet young lady, now stop giving me that look; you hear me Amelia Francine Jones?" said Julianne to her daughter while trying her best to resist Amelia's puppy dog eye look. At that said person just pouted, after all her secret weapon just failed; and for the first time mind you.
Walking down the streets of Diagon Alley, Amelia and her mom along with her cousin Francis passed by Flourish and Blotts; when suddenly she remembered something, "Hey mom, let's go check out for some brooms." said Amelia to her mother, hoping that this time she would say yes.
"Well, I don't see why not? You'd be needing a broom after all- once you enter in Hogwarts." said her mother in a as-a-matter-of-fact tone.
"Oui, once you're in Hogwarts there'll be flying lessons for the first years, mon petit." said Francis- her cousin who happens to be in the same age as her brother.
With that said the three of them made their way to Broomstix, a shop where every witch and wizard buy their brooms; passing by many shops and stalls located in Diagon Alley they finally reached Broomstix and went inside to have a look on the brooms they had.
"Hello there! Is there anything I could help you with?" said the store assistant who appears to be in her 30s.
"Oh, we're just having a look around for some brooms." said Julianne to the kind store assistant, giving her a polite smile.
"Well then, please feel free to have a look around," said the kind store assistant and taking sudden notice of Amelia and her new pet "my, that's certainly a beautiful owl you've got there dear."
"Thanks, I just got it today. Mom bought as a gift." said Amelia, clearly pleased at being noticed- after all don't heroes deserve to be noticed? Of course, they do.
"A gift huh, well then if that's the case then you're probably headed to Hogwarts for the first time?" asked that store assistant, though she was pretty sure that the answer would be yes.
Amelia just nodded her answer, while her cousin and mother were both busy checking out the brooms that would suit her well; not only checking out to find his cousin the perfect broom, but Francis was also trying to look for the best broom for one of his best friends back in school.
"Amelia, sweetie would you mind coming here for a second?" asked Julianne who is over by the right side of the shop.
"Okay mom, be right there." said Amelia, leaving the store assistant to her own devices.
Passing by the many displays of broom within the store Amelia finally reached where her mother is, and went to her side.
"Anything good mom?" asked Amelia, then suddenly looking at the broom her mother was staring at, "Hmm... looks good, though not the kind of broom I had in mind." she said still looking at the broom with a tad of disappointment in her eyes.
"Well alright, we'll just have to come back some other time then." said her mother, knowing that her daughter wouldn't be interested in any of the brooms that they had in the shop.
Williams-Jones Residence
"Alright, is everything set there Matt?" asked Mr. Jones, just to be sure that they have everything prepared for the party.
"Yes dad, everything's set." said Matthew having a last look at that things they prepared for his sister's birthday, just to be sure that everything is set.
"Good, they'll be here any minute now." said Albert to his son, while looking at his watch; then at the door waiting for his' wife and daughter along with Francis to come home from their trip to Diagon Alley.
And just as they planned Amelia along with her companions walked through the door, exactly on time; and then...
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMELIA!" yelled everyone who was invited to Amelia's birthday.
"Huh? Wha?" said Amelia completely stunned with what's going on around her.
"Happy birthday sweetheart," greeted her mother ",we prepared all of this just for you we hope you like it." she continued, smiling at her daughter's confused look.
"Like it? I love it, you guys are the best mom!" exclaimed Amelia getting over the confusion as her mother's words sunk in and getting a grip of the situation that was in front of her.
Again taking in her surroundings she found a banner that said 'HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY' in her favorite colors and there were also some colorful decorations scattered within the living room, but what really got her attention was the many gifts that she got.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get this party started." said Albert, grinning at the expression he got from their surprise. Completely pleased with himself as their plan was a success.
With that said one by one the guests started to completely enjoy the party, some were dancing; while some others were fine with the friendly conversation over the enjoyable food.
"Happy birthday Amy." greeted her brother, smiling at her while handing his gift.
"Aw thanks Mattie, you're really the best big bro a hero could ask for." said Amelia, taking her brother's gift for her with a big smile on her face.
Matthew just smiled at hearing her sister's words, trust Amelia to say sweet things whenever she's in a good mood. Not that she's not a considerate person... she just happens to be someone who can't read the atmosphere aka oblivious at times so yeah...
"Ohonhonhon, seeing you two makes big brother Francis' heart swell with joy." said Francis, who happened to watch the entire exchange between the siblings; and now was attempting to hug both of his cousins.
The siblings turned to their cousin upon hearing his words and just sweat dropped at what he had just said, and seeing as though they were about to get hugged by the overly dramatic French they both dodged; since the both of them dodged his hug Francis ended up fall flat upon the floor with a 'thud'.
"Ow, you two too old for big brother Francis' affection?" asked Francis, clearly annoyed with having to fall flat on his face upon the floor.
"You're just around Mattie's age Francy pants." said Amelia, pointing out the fact that their cousin isn't that much older them.
"Hmmp, so mean. You wound me mon petit lapin." said Francis, huffing at his younger cousin.
With that they separated themselves, Amelia went straight to where the food is hoping to get a taste of one of them; mean while her brother and cousin went to their own devices. Seeing as all of the food in front of looked delicious, Amelia had gone to get a paper plate and went to where she had found her aunt's specialty as well as having some barbecue courtesy of her uncle Charlemagne; and not to mention the carbonara that her father had prepared for this occasion.
"Not so fast young lady, I know you're hungry but you'll have to eat later." said her mother, who happened to have been just around the corner, "You haven't even blown your birthday cake yet." she reminded her daughter gently.
"Alright fine." said Amelia, while grumbling under her breath.
"Okay, time to blow the candles gather around everyone." said Albert to the guests they had invited.
With that said everyone had gathered around the celebrant singing 'Happy birthday' to Amelia, and as the song ended Amelia had blown her cake and the people around had clapped.
"Well now everyone, time to eat." said Julianne.
With that said, the guests had gone to get some paper plates and get some paper cups for their drinks. Leaving the celebrant with her family.
"I think there's something I need to give to sweetheart." said Albert, before leaving to go to 'their' bedroom. It only took a good 15 minutes for the Jones patriarch to get what he needed from the bedroom and get back to his daughter.
"Here you go, I hope you'll like it." said Albert, "Why don't you open it up? It's all right." he continued; encouraging his daughter to open it.
At first, Amelia hesitated to open it up, but she had ended up opening it; revealing a feather that was neatly seated upon the cushion of the box.
"Uhh, what's this supposed to do?" asked Amelia, completely confused as to why she had received a feather as a gift.
"This sweetheart, is a thunder bird's tail feather. It's got magical properties perfect for a wand core." explained Albert to his confused daughter, "It's a gift from your uncle." he added.
"Alright sweet." said Amelia, amazed that what she thought was a simple feather was actually from a gigantic bird found only in America.
