Heey! 'm in a rut with To Cross the Finishline, and then I remembered this gem has been plaguing me for months now. So, why not?
Mini tragic back story: I got KH3 last year with the rest of you, played it for three months before I had to move from Florida to New Hampshire. I'm here, but ALL of my games and consoles are STILL in Florida! My backwards compatible bulky PS3 from 2008 I still have and my PS4( T.T ) So, I'm shamelessly relying on the Youtube channel TheGamersJoint starring Jared for his Walkthroughs. Go to his channel! He's f'ing hilarious! XD So, yeah... At least I beat it! Barely, I felt rushed *Le Sigh*... So, again, I'm relying on his videos for the whole game here... Also, I have not played ReMind since it came out after my move. Jared's channel is a godsend!
Now!
For this rewrite, the other was made in the large fandom for KH3 Fanfics before said game even came out. Now it is! So, I'm tweaking to compensate. And let me tell you! I no longer need to figure out how to save the Wayfinder or Seasalt icecream trio, Master Xehanort is gone, Terra was the freaking guardian this WHOLE TIME! OMG. You get the idea. I no longer need to stress about all those details so I can focus on my actual story.
But also, I WILL retail some of my old ideas that clash with what is now canon. I will put appropriate warnings when they come in to play, so don't expect ALL of the Canon-KH3 to apply here. This WAS and IS my interpretation of a KH3 fanfic after all. If you HAD read my original, you should already know where this is going.
This is a more detailed rewrite of the short chapter "My Dad is Lonely". I'm apparently incapable of NOT doing Time Travel fics. But fear not! This is not like my other stories! Anything from the future is basically this interview. They will be popping up from time to time if I can't figure out how to properly narrate something, or need a break from the tension, etc.
More notes on bottom.
A screen flips on and static flickers briefly before it steady's on a familiar room in the then-former Hollow Bastion Library. There was a bare table, three chairs and a wall with a stained glass window opposite the camera. On the table is a short lamp where the light is coming from.
One person is behind the camera trying to fit all three chairs on the screen as a young man with red hair and a woman with brown hair find their seats. The second woman with silver hair finishes with the camera and takes her seat next to the first woman. The brunette opened up a large bag by her feet filled with papers and other misc. items. Bringing out a tape recorder and setting it on the table, she started recording.
"This is Roxanne Ritchi speaking, here with Susan Murphy, interviewing Jackson Alkeno. This interview is to discuss the events of the Queen's Invasion 10 years ago, up until the second Keyblade War currently in the making."
"Thank you Roxanne." Susan spoke up. "Jack, as this interview is to set the record straight. Why don't we start at the beginning."
The young man, Jack, hesitates and tries to gather his thoughts. "Yes. But which beginning?" This causes the women to chuckle.
"Why don't we start with the Queens' Invasion. I was told you were 4 or 5 years old at that time?" Roxanne started in gentle tones to try and soothe the nervous teen.
"Yes, I was 5. We were still on the island at that time. The Invasion started at the end of summer on our Island."
Susan continued. "Why don't we start there. What can you tell us prior to that? Do you remember anything about that summer? What about before? What about your father? I was told it was years since the fall of the Organization at that point-" Susan continued excitedly.
"Easy there! Slow down!" Jack grinned as she blushed in embarrassment. He closed his eyes in remembrance. Pulling his legs up on the chair and hugging his knees.
"Take your time." Roxanne finished. "We have all week for this. Take a deep breath and you can begin when your ready."
Eyes still closed, He took a deep breath and whispered: "Thank you."
Susan also calmed and sat patiently. He opened his eyes to stare at the camera.
"If you asked me to describe him from what I remember, it would be lonely." He frowned slightly. "When I was little, I remember my dad coming into my room with a sketchbook. " A small smile. "He would sit on my bed and pull me into his arms so I could watch him draw. Every night was a different world or a friend he knew. As he told the story, he drew them. His friends, the places they met, some challenges they faced, even the moments in between. I had a book shelf full of his sketchbooks!" He grinned, a hint of child-like glee slipping through.
The girls smiled at that mental image, for both women have seen Sora draw on occasion. On one occurrence Roxanne has even witnessed Jack in Sora's arms once doing just that.
She saw the look on his face as he remembered his childhood. His father. He clenched his hands, holding his pants to grip something.
A moment of silence, then. "When I asked him if he can introduce me to them, he kept saying that he wanted me a little bit older and after he told me of some of the scary things out there. I had no idea that by keeping me there... he had to stay as well."
The women looked sad at that.
"I remember wanting to grow up faster so we can go see the worlds together. I wanted to go, because I just wanted to see him smile again. If only I knew what I was in for back then, if only I held his hand just a little longer..."
Roxanne Ritchi from "Megamind" and Susan Murphy from "Monsters Vs. Aliens". I'm adding Dreamworks in here since Disney now has Pixar. The library is the same spot in KH1 Hollow Bastion library where Kairi spoke with her grandma.
