I Love You Darn It!
Severa groaned loudly, looking out of the window of the castle office she shared with her mother Cordelia. Such aggressive vocalizations had the potential reopen discussions of prior strain in their relationship, long since mended. However, with Cordelia outside leading her knights through performance drills there was no risk of that consequence from her outburst.
Despite her foul mood, Severa couldn't help but feel a pang of happiness that her mother and the knights she so diligently trained had their fearsome lances replaced with a variety of colored streamers, and great billowing flags which changed color magically. The cause of such pageantry was that Lucina's official coronation as heir to the Ylissean throne and her engagement to Gerome (which was to be blessed by Lady Tiki herself) were to be confirmed in a week or so. For Severa, such activities served as reaffirmation that Grima had failed, that the terrible traumas of the future were dead to history, and that her mother would keep her promise... She slammed her fist on the shared desk, frustration flaring up. Here she was, in a time of peace, renewed prosperity and all-around positivity and here she was dealing with this dragon crap.
"Sev, what's bugging you?" a kind voice came from the open door.
"Oh hey Robin. It's nothing." Severa replied, not turning to face him.
"Sev. I know when you're upset you don't have to lie to make me comfortable." Robin chided gently as he came in, closing the distance and rubbing Severa's shoulders gently after putting the plate of food he had just procured from the royal kitchens on the oaken desk.
"Sorry Robin, it's just weird what's got me upset is all."
"You're from a bunch of time-travelers led by a Princess who used a legendary Hero King as her alias. You're barely ten years younger than your mother, and my body was essentially forged to serve as Grima incarnate with Amnesia and Tactics skills. But do go on." Robin replied, somehow keeping a straight face.
No matter how bad her mood was Severa could always count on Robin to make her laugh. Not through clowning or buffoonery like Vaike, Inigo or Owain, or through sheer social obliviousness like Laurent or Nah but his own Robin humor.
"When you put it like that, it is incredibly hard to remain bothered. But it's emotional stuff."
"Is it about your mom Sev? You know Cordelia said she was always willing to listen to you."
"No, it isn't mom. We all the time talk now, no small thanks to you Mr. Therapist."
"I was doing a favor for a friend is all." Robin replied, feeling bashful and running his left hand through his shoulder length purple hair.
"You might want to make that plural. Unless you don't think we are friends."
Severa had meant for the second part to sound like a joke but instead her genuine insecurities prevented that. This caused Robin to give her a small hug from behind for just a moment, which made her next comment catch in her throat and a blush to blaze across the malar region of her face.
"I'm sorry Sev, I meant no quarrel saying that."
She wished this would last for a while longer, that she could lean back into Robin's arms and have him kiss her neck, turn around and kiss his handsome face. But she did not, no this crush would remain secret for a little while longer.
"Hey, I know Robin. Can you let me breathe a little more? You're stronger than you think."
She knew Robin was now the one blushing as he pulled away.
"S-sorry, I just hate seeing you down in the dumps and not just because it worries your mother. I mean it."
"No harm no foul Robin, just some feelings nonsense."
"Regarding Lucina's wedding."
Cursing the intelligence, she found so attractive Severa nodded in the affirmative not turning around yet.
"Really it is the flurry weddings and engagements time traveler or not. Lissa and Lon'qu, Inigo and Cynthia, Miriel and Kellam are finally tying the knot, even stupid Vaike and Owain found some nice girls in the royal court. I know that isn't everyone but with Lucina's grand gala coming up it's making me feel lonesome, you know?"
Robin nodded not quite sure what to say.
"Pretty soon you're gonna be swooning over somebody from our ranks Robin and then you won't have time for tea with me, mom, and dad."
"You're right Sev, the Shepherds are quite incestuous."
"Umm eww Robin, don't suggest around mom that Chrom is humping Lissa as well as Queen Olivia. Naga knows she's still not over him despite being married to the prettiest man in all of Ylisse."
"That's not what that means in this case! Blahh!" Robin shook his head, not wanting that crude image to get stuck in there. Regaining his composure Robin retorted.
"Does Libra know you say stuff like this? I doubt he would approve."
"Nope, I'm daddy's little angel when he's around. But seriously Robin, I'm waiting for you to get swept up in this matrimonial fever."
"I can't do that I have that trip aboard the Elfgerald, a Plegian merchant freighter, in preparation for Lucina's ceremony. They're donating the entire shipment of charmed iron ore, some 26,000 tons of it, in exchange for war debt forgiveness.
Hey all, This is a project I've been working for a while and trying to perfect, I haven't forgotten my other stuff.
