Hey guys! This one-shot takes place after the end of the show and after the celebration of the beginning of the Harmony Restoration Movement where Aang talks to Katara about their kiss on the balcony. I may or not make it a series of short one-shots, so if you like it and want it to continue, let me know. Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you all enjoy!

Aang was happy. The war was over, they were starting a movement to finally bring the world back to balance, and best of all… Katara had kissed him.

He wasn't entirely sure whether she was over her confusion or not. The young Avatar dearly hoped so, but he knew that the only way he would find out was if he asked her, so with that thought in mind, he bid all of his friends goodnight and walked up to Katara who was still standing on the balcony where they had kissed a few hours ago.

"Hey," he greeted her a bit nervously, not knowing how this would go. He didn't want to do anything to push her away, but he also wanted to finally get some clarity. As much as he wanted her to love him, it was the not knowing that was slowly killing him inside. His whole life had been full of trouble and uncertainty ever since he had found out he was the Avatar, and he just wanted the chance to fix that. Or, at least as much as he could, anyway.

"Hey," she smiled as she turned to look at him before looking back at the moon. "It's a beautiful night, isn't it?"

This caught him a little by surprise, as he wasn't expecting her to be so calm about it, but he supposed he should have known. From the start, she was always the one who held the card in the little game of theirs. Ever since he laid eyes on her, she always had him beat. Of this, he was sure.

"Yeah, it is," he agreed as he looked up at the night sky and smiled, seeing just how right she was. The stars were splashed across the sky in such a beautiful pattern, it was almost as if the Spirits had made it just for them. They both stood there in a comfortable silence, just watching the night sky above them.

It didn't last long, however, because Aang had been waiting this long, and he simply couldn't take it anymore. He wouldn't rush her, he wouldn't do anything to bring discomfort to her that he could help, but he needed to know. "So," he began a bit awkwardly. "About what happened earlier…"

Katara laughed a little and looked at him as he blushed, feeling awkward and intruding for asking this, but he knew this needed to be done. He just needed an answer, whether it was 'yes' or 'no'. "Aang, you don't need to be so awkward about it."

Leaning over, she placed a soft, warm kiss on his lips, making him smile happily before she pulled back. "So does that mean…" he trailed off, wanting her to say it.

Katara laughed again and smiled endearingly at him. "Yes, Aang. I… I love you," she admitted with a blush as she looked away.

Aang was ecstatic. Finally, after all of the uncertainty, after all the longing for her and hoping that she felt the same, he finally got the clarity he had been needing. She loved him. She loved him. "I love you, too," he replied with a large smile on his face, but he couldn't help but wonder something. "So… can I ask… why do you think you were confused?"

Katara's smiled dropped a little at this as she looked back at the moon. "Aang, I'm really sorry about that. I… I guess I was just scared," she admitted, catching him by surprise.

"Scared? What were you scared of?" He looked down at his feet. "Were you scared of me?" he asked, ashamed of himself, thinking he had done something wrong to make her fear him.

"What? No!" Katara said quickly with wide eyes, not expecting him to think that. "Aang, I was scared of losing you. You have to understand, the day of the invasion, I had complete faith in you that you would win and come back. But when you kissed me… I got scared."

"What do you mean?"

She looked down at her feet and then up into his eyes. "I was scared of being in love with someone who had a good chance of not coming back," she admitted, taking him by surprise. "You have to understand, Aang, I loved my mother so much. She was the most amazing woman in the world when I was a kid, but when you died at Ba Sing Se… It felt like I had died, too. Even more than when my mother had been killed." She took a long, deep breath before she trusted herself to speak again. "When you kissed me, I was reminded that you're not just the Avatar. You're just as human as I am, you just happen to have a spirit living inside you."

Aang laughed a little and she smiled, looking down at her feet. "Your kiss reminded me that although you're the Avatar, that you could still be killed in the battle with Ozai." She shook her head at herself. "So when I realized that, I got so scared that I doubted whether I really loved you or not." She sighed and looked away, ashamed of herself. "I guess I was just trying to protect myself."

There was silence between them for a moment, both wondering what to say, when Katara decided to finish her thoughts. "Aang, I just want to say I'm sorry for everything that I put you through. I was so scared of losing you, you have no idea. And I understand if you don't want to be with me anymore, but-" she was cut off as he stepped forward and gently brought her lips to his, taking her by surprise before her eyes sunk closed in bliss. They kissed for a few moments, just savoring each others' taste and the feeling of being so close to the one they loved.

Finally pulling away, Aang smiled at her with love plain in his eyes. "Katara, I don't care about the past. All I want, all I've ever wanted was for you to love me." Katara's eyes started to water as he stared into her eyes. "If you think that I don't want to be with you, then think again. There's nothing more that I want than to be with you." Katara smiled happily and kissed him again, her tears mixing in with the taste of each others' lips as they kissed. Before long, they slowly pulled apart and smiled at each other. "I love you, Katara. Nothing you could say or do will ever change that."

Katara just smiled again and pulled him into a hug, feeling so relieved and happy that he still wanted to be with her. "I love you too, Aang. I always will." Aang smiled happily and sank into her embrace, finally being able to hold the girl he loved. It was all he had ever wanted.

After a little while, they both grew tired and decided it was time to go to their rooms to get some sleep. As he walked her to her room, Katara gave him one more kiss, feeling so happy and content that he had forgiven her and wanted to be with her.

"Goodnight," she murmured with one last kiss, making him smile as she opened her door and looked back at him.

"Goodnight," he whispered back as she smiled at him before she closed the door. Sighing a little, he stood there for a moment before he said what he wanted to say. "I love you." Having said what he wanted to, he went to his room, not knowing that Katara had heard him. She knew that he loved her, but hearing him say it… It made her happier than words could begin to describe. The young water bender laid down on her bed and started to fall asleep, but not without whispering, "I love you, too."
