My plan with this story, well it's gonna be... different. At least that's the hope for this. It's about a teen, one about to be a man. Yet he knows he's not man... but he's not beast either.
This is the story of how one teen proves that no matter how bad things get, demons can either help you, or tear you apart.
For the Danny Phantom side of things... it's based after Phantom Planet, like a year later, with Danny eighteen years old, along with Sam, Tucker, and Valerie. Dani will be sixteen, and James is gonna be seventeen years old. Danny will be more involved later on. For now though, it's time to see a teen judging his own humanity.
Ch.1 Always Running
Running, that's all I always do since it happened. I've ran, and ran, and for a change of pace... I may have flew a bit.
I was once a happy kid... full of life, expecting the world to be all sunshine and rainbows. Then the world showed what it truly felt about me... an abomination. My own mother and my asshat of a stepfather didn't even want me. They kept abusing me verbally after my first 'phase'. They then started hitting me, but I never once swung back, not that I was afraid to, because by God I wanted more than anything to fight back.
The reason I didn't... was because I didn't want to prove them right. I wanted to prove to them that I was more then what they claimed me to be. More than just being a blood thirsty monster waiting to strike.
That's when the knife came in. They planned to cut out my heart and slice off my head, they even stabbed me in the gut to prove they would.
That's when I realized they were beyond reason. I mean... what kind of monsters would do that to a child, it was a bit... obsessive. Even a freak of nature... an abomination like me didn't deserve that. So I decided it was time to put them out of their misery.
I transformed my first time that very night. To a creature of death and fire. Jet black scales, a trail of spikes on the back, flaming emerald eyes, razor clawed hands. My head had shifted into reptilian like form, with spikes growing around the sides and top, and snakelike fangs showing. A large tail had also grew out, and it strangely had quills on it, for purposes at the time I did not know.
I unleashed hell on them that night. I burned that house of horrors to the ground with them still inside, but not without killing them with my fangs and claws, having made their deaths as slow and painful as they did when they were beating me. Emerald flames were then seen for miles before I stepped out of the inferno. Only to see the barrel of guns pointed at me. When I turned back to see what I have done, and I... I didn't feel guilt. I only felt like I was truly free. That for the first time in my life... I was free to be... free to be me.
The police that were there tried to fire their weapons at me, but I was in the air faster then they could shoot. I became one with the night sky, a demon in the night.
I've been running ever since.
The past couple years on the road had changed me, for better or worse I don't know. I had become something that I could had never become if I had remained among those monsters. I had slowly and patiently learned to master my wings... my fire, and even my tail quills, which I had since found out are projectile.
I have also became a hell of a lot more sleek and muscular than I was before. The fire that burns within me growing with every passing day. I had to learn quickly to hunt my own food, and that's how I learned that my fangs produce venom, similar to that like of a snake's.
One thing that had eluded me over the years is what has frustrated me all my life. Who, or what, in the name of Heaven and Hell is my father?
It goes through my mind every day. All I can guess is that he's not human. How else can you explain my... other half.
All honesty, I didn't care if he'd accept me, I only cared about knowing one thing... why? Why did he have me if he was only going to leave? Why create an abomination like me? Why leave me in a world that would never accept me?
Those questions fueled my ever growing anger at times.
Though, I know I'm not the only supernatural creature in the world. Everyone has heard if the 'infamous' Danny Phantom. Save the world from an asteroid, like I care. Inviso-Bill can have his fun in the spotlight, I'll happily remain away from the rats.
Then their was those dragon spottings in New York City over the past few years, been their once to meet him. Let's just say, that I'm not exactly welcomed their anymore.
Still, doesn't stop me from entering other towns like I am at the moment. I enter during the night, not wanting to interact with others. It also gives me the cover I need to take flight, my black scales perfectly blending into the night sky. It's not that I'm afraid to be seen, it's that I really, really, don't want people hounding me.
I'm way to dangerous for that.
As I'm flying though, I hear the sounds of screaming not far from me. Normally, I would ignore any activity going on in the city, but that was the scream of a child. I may not like people, but I have a soft spot for kids.
I turned towards the direction of the scream and was there in moments. I landed on a ledge, looking down into an alley. I didn't like what I saw. A group of men in black, one had a young girl in one arm with a gun to her head. The others had what I could assume were her parents on their knees at gun point.
When the girl then tried to struggle, the man who held her hit her in the head with the butt of the gun. The sight pissed me off, and when I'm pissed, someone was screwed. What really took me over the edge was that their was now blood coming off the girl's blonde hair. Yep, these guys are so dead.
I gave a low growl, which was loud enough for the men to hear it. They all looked up and they all paled at the sight of me. I don't blame them at all, I'm rather... what do they say? Oh yeah... demonic.
The moment the men in black looked up, I dived down, my claws digging into flesh as I swiped the man who had the girl across the face, causing him to let go. Two other men tried to shoot at me, but then two quills on my tail shot off and nailed them in the chest, killing on impact.
Then the two who had the parents attempted to shoot them, but they must have really underestimated my speed as I was among them in seconds, throwing one into a brick wall so hard that I heard his spine crack.
The other then had the audacity to attempt to punch me, only to break his hand over my scales. He looked up to see my mouth open and a small torrent of flames came out, catching the mans face, burning him to death on impact.
I could hear the shocked gasps from the two parents as they held their daughter close. At least the kid was safe, same couldn't be said for the last living man. He was trying to crawl away, but I stalked forward and picked him up with a single clawed hand. I then slammed him into the wall, my claws slowing starting to sink into his neck.
The man held his hands up as if trying to beg for mercy. "Wait... wait! Please... I have... a family!" I slowly kept piercing my claws into his throat.
"Didn't stop you from trying to murder this one," I said in a more demonic voice after a moment, before my claws punctured the jugular, he was dead within moments.
I let his body drop to the ground as I turned and looked behind me at the family. They had terrified looks on their faces, like they think I'm going to attack them now. I turned away from the family as they hugged each other, a slight pain tugged my chest. I never had that... nor will I ever will.
Throwing that thought away, I then spread my wings, and with a single flap, took to the sky. I let out a thunderous roar as I did so, letting all know my power. I can't help that I'm egotistical. Guess I get that from my 'dad'.
Anyway, back to what I'm good at I suppose... yeah, it looks to be time that I go back to what I've always been doing. Back to running, as the people will always see me as I see me.
A monster.
For those who actually care what an abomination like myself is called, well...
My name... my name is James, James Irwin. What I am... well, I'm basically a demon. At least that's what I think I am.
Unknown to me at the time, the direction I was flying towards, will lead me to the place that will quite possibly change my outlook on life. As well as meet people who accepted that... well I wasn't exactly human.
It all started when I was hunted by a unique new hunter.
So as you can see, I'm trying a more darker approach into story telling. This will be the only chapter with the first person POV, so that's the end of that.
This James will be a lot darker, a lot more violent, and less social then some of my previous versions of the character, mainly due to his backstory here. His has always been the hardest to write when it came to using him in stories. I hope he won't be much of an issue here. He will lighten up as the story progresses though.
Next chapter, James will be having his first supernatural encounter. Not necessarily in Amity Park, but it's in the area. We may also see a protagonist from the show, but that's still under consideration.
Don't forget to review and check out my profile for my other stories. Peace Out.
