Chapter Zero - The Very Beginning

The land of Gamindustri was mostly covered in smoke. The once proud lush continent, and brim with people living with their lives were destroyed by a massive dragon that suddenly appeared in the sky.

This dragon was known as a 'Dimensional Dragon' as it tried not only to wreck havoc upon the world but to destroy even its very foundation of existence.

The people cried for help, and for the next 5 years, no help came. The dragons continued to wreck havoc as powerful warriors tried to fend it off. But none survive nor even able to stall the mighty dragon.

It seems like everything was about to be destroyed and all hope slowly slipping out from everyone's grasp.

When suddenly a bright light descended from the heavens upon the darkest hours of the land. The people saw a goddess - their Final Savior. To save them from their end.

The people were all around the continent, trying to escape from the sight of the dragon who continued to search them. The humanity were in the brink of collapsed and extinction had it not for this mysterious being that descended down the sky.

This mysterious being was a goddess of this world. She called upon countless heroes, even from another dimensions but they cannot fight such a magnitude of a beast, even with a several cheat skills like infinit health and dimension-level of strenght and tenacity, none can. And so, she descended upon the world to save it instead.

She gave people who saw her a life and hope. She needed their faith in amidst of despair, and in turn, she became powerful.

She fought the dragon alone in the middle of the world. Far from the remaining humanity, she and the dragon fought here. The world crumbled and shook, the sky trembled and rainless thunder boomed with it covered by dark clouds.

In its strongest, the continent was split apart into four in the apex of the battle between the goddess and the dragon.

For nearly a week, the goddess finally subdued the mighty dragon that brought a disaster to the world. The people celebrated as the feared disaster was now gone.

And then, the goddess made a difficult decision. She was a goddess. The totality of her role is to simply watch her world from above and guide everyone whoever believes her, all the while training heroes for any treacherous people. But now that she destroyed that role and her world is in peril because of the damage done by the dragon, she used all of her power as a goddess, even her own life, to repair the world and return it back to its usual state.

In her dying power, she gave a message around the world that with this, humanity was left with their own decisions. It will be their choice whether to live and fight or die and coward. The goddess used all her power to repair the foundation of the world back to its usual state and with this..

...the goddess was gone.

The people around the world cried as the only guide and ruler of this world died. Without the goddess, they will be blind upon many things they will not know.

But from above, several gods and goddesses saw and admired how the goddess of Gamindustri saved the world.

And so, these beings tried to find a way to protect Gamindustri in the stead of the late goddess. Then, it came. Four goddesses to be exact emerged to be the protectors of Gamindustri and entered the world, take their respective continens, and as an unimaginable being, guided the world in the steps of the late goddess.

And for several years, then decades, to centuries, the legend of the True Goddess and of the Dimensional Dragon were now a myth and a fantasy that many people hardly believe in once the four goddesses are now the one guiding them.

However, one being - not a god - in particular dressed in black and called himself as "The Outsider" from above found the late goddess of Gamindustri a very interesting being. He appeared to be more powerful than the late goddess on how he casually say her name to the fellow beings.

And so, he did something that no one knows, not even the closest gods and goddesses that are with him.

He revived the soul of the late goddess with a form similar to a human, but with purple ash skin and sharp ears. But in return, he removed the previous memories of the former goddess. He gave the body a life and pit the goddess' soul there, and he whispered to her ear a name for her.

"Arfoire."

After that, he left Gamindustri as the woman named Arfoire lied unconscious in a forest.

...

Arfoire woke up to see herself being dressed by a female elf. The female elf called herself as "Histoire" and she was a Elven Queen. The Queen of Elves had founder her in her territory and decided to help her, not only that but also because she appeared to be their relative due to her ears and similarities to their skin.

Arfoire have no recollection why she was here. She just simply told the Elf Queen that she do not know who she was and she just simply know that she appeared here. The Elf Queen understood her situation and told her why she carried her here.

The Elf Queen told her that Arfoire looked like a Dark Elf and they are a race similar to them but with opposite purpose. Nonetheless, they don't outright proceed attack one another but simply rivaled each other's race and ways.

The race of Elves, even Dark Elves, are once thriving race but a calamity befell upon this land and they were almost extinct. Thankfully, with the power of the World Tree, they were able to survive.

Even though that's that, the two race remained united as a race and are all partaking together to a single mass that held them together; the World Tree.

And Histoire told Arfoire that the day is that celebration and that the Elf Queen is busy. So, Histoire left Arfoire in her room to take care some business for the moment.

Arfoire was left, still confused of herself but at least she have an idea to where she was and what was about to happen. Suddenly, another person entered the room. Another elf, with a dark skin, by the name of "Croire" and introduced herself as the Elf Queen's younger sister.

Histoire had told Croire to take care of Arfoire and so the appreciated her help.

The two were simply talking, with Arfoire mostly asking. When suddenly, the ground shook. The two immediately exited the place and Arfoire saw how beautiful the place of this Elves. She also a massive tree nearby that stood out and appeared to be reaching the sky.

Arfoire paused before noticing a group of big creatures whom Croire called as "Trolls" and are attacking the elves who are also fighting back. They are hostile monsters that needed to be killed.

Arfoire also saw Dark Elves which looks similar to her but she was brighter. The Dark Elves appeared to be working together with the fellow Elves against the Trolls who, judging by how they act, are charging towards the World Tree.

Croire told Arfoire to stand by as she left her as several Dark Elves followed her to assist. Arfoire wanted to help as well but she don't know how, when she suddenly felt and weird sensation deep within her.

She found herself flying, surprising herself, and she charged towards the Trolls with a spear-like staff on her disposal. She do not know what she was doing but her body appeared to be moving on its own and she was just going with the flow.

Arfoire killed the first Troll that are attacking the root of the World Tree with ease. The Elves and the Dark Elves was shock to see Arfoire and wondered who she was but Croire ordered them to stop being distracted and just go on and fight other Trolls.

Arfoire faced three Trolls and she killed them down with flash and decisive movements. This final takedowns were saw by every Elves in the vicinity. Arfoire looked around as she tried to understand what she did. When out of nowhere, Histoire arrived and hugged her to check if she has any wounds.

Arfoire appeared to be fine and no sign of fatigue from that fight. The Elves and the Dark Elves cheered to her.

Night came and the festival for the World Tree had began. The star of the festival is Arfoire whom the Elf Queen, Histoire, introduced to everyone. Croire then stepped forward as the Dark Elf Queen, whom Arfoire was shock to reveal her reputation.

The night was full of fun and new things for Arfoire whom Histoire and Croire found amusing. The two Queens toured her around the big area. They told her that by morning, Croire will leave to return back to their place of them Dark Elves.

They just met awhile ago but Arfoire was sad to know that. Croire assured her that she will come by from time to time.

Histoire told Arfoire that she can go to Croire next time. This made Arfoire happy before an Elf warrior appeared before the Elf Queen.

The Elf Queen asked what was wrong and the Elf warrior told her than someone had stole the Thorns of Darkness. This was a shocking news as Arfoire asked Croire what was it.

Croire explained that the Thorns of Darkness is a thorn-crown-like structure with a very powerful power of darkness. This power was very destructive and the oldest elves believed that this originated from a scale of a mighty dragon in the past.

The Elf Queen has found it and immediately knew how dangerous the thing was judging how it turned the forest into a place of lifeless energy.

The Elf warrior had suspected that it may be because of the mastermind of the Trolls. Who are controlling them are a race called "Orcs", more specifically, a reddish orcs known as "Fire Orcs" - a hated race among all Elves.

They found out that single Fire Orc by the name of "Grunt" are taming the Trolls to disturb their peaceful lives.

The Elf Queen ordered the Elf warrior to tell the officers to prepare defensive measures by tomorrow to be prepare at the next attack of the Trolls. Arfoire wished to help and so the Elf Queen decided to asked her power to defeat the reddish orc.

The orc was last found where they previously found the Thorns of Darkness. The Elf Queen can understand Arfoire's strength so she send her alone with map. But Histoire also gave her a small stone where if she crushed it, they will help her back.

By the next day, Arfoire left with Histoire and Croire's goodbyes. She was ought to find the reddish orc known as Grunt in the lifeless forest by the west.

All this time, Arfoire was flying in the sky and was trying to find a place where fits the description being entrusted to her. She encountered many things on the way but she nonethless continued to her quest. A few hours of flying, she finally found it.

She hid amongst the trees from the edge of the wasteland. There was a big building from afar that appeared to be a monument and she saw small creatures coming out from it. Without any choice left, she charged towards the place and encountered many monsters on the way.

But she managed to deal them with ease as she swiftly and skillfully wielded her weapon to destroy her enemies. She then faced a golem that is guarding the entrance, the golem was tough but all Arfoire was a precise yet destructive attack to it before she destroyed it.

She entered the monument and was faced with a bunch of Trolls. She noticed that these Trolls were all monsters she saw on the way here, she found out that they are nuetral - as long as you don't provoke them, that is. And Arfoire judged that something is controlling these big monsters.

As she dodged their attacks, she finally found the source of what she can tell the one controlling these monsters. There, she saw a small dragon roaring, as if its ordering those Trolls to attack her.

Arfoire rushed towards and started attacking the small dragon, unlike any monsters, Arfoire felt an adrenaline shoot up inside her as she fought the small dragon. She felt something deep inside that is familiar but she shook it off to focus at the fight.

She and the small dragon thrashed around the place, even destroying the building itself as Arfoire continued fighting the small dragon.

In the end, Arfoire won against it as she stabbed the dragon by its head. Thus, killing it. She appeared to be tired as she saw on the belly of the dragon whose size appeared to be bigger than the Trolls.

As she rested for a moment, she discovered a golden earpiece attached from the dragon's ear. It is small and it appeared to be forcefully put on to the dragon. But that was not the part that Arfoire got the most, it was the eerie aura of darkness coming out from it.

She was about to remove it when suddenly, she saw Histoire from afar. Arfoire was surprised to see her alone here as she asked why she was here. She noticed something wrong with the Elf Queen as she asked once more. But she was shock to see Histoire suddenly casted a magic spell to her.

Arfoire had no time to dodge nor block her attack as she was sent flying and landed on the ground painfully. She lifted herself up to see the Elf Queen Histoire walked towards her with certain ill intent.

That is when Arfoire saw something on the Elf Queen's head; a black thorn-like crown adorned her head. Arfoire feared that something dark was controlling Histoire.

But Arfoire was having a hard time fighting Histoire; not only she was the strongest opponent she have faced, but also the fact she just can't hurt her - the one who took care of her just yesterday after she was born(?).

In the end, Arfoire could not fight back as Histoire brought her down. Turned out, Grunt, the fire orc appeared nearby, and was expecting an assault for him. He did not expect a Dark Elf, he assumed, to attack him, especially a strong person such as Arfoire. He then told her that he returned just awhile ago before she killed the dragon, turned out Arfoire accidentally crushed the small stone and it signalled a help from Histoire who came in rush to rescue her.

Grunt sensed their approach as he ambushed them. Killing the Elf warriors that are with Histoire and turning the Elf Queen into her puppet by forcing her to wear the Thorns of Darkness.

Arfoire was angered by this news as something begin to ooze out from her. A powerful energy coiled around her body as she suddenly casted out a dark spell towards Grunt.

The orc was baffled as he was flown in the air and was sent to the sky, landing somewhere far away. Histoire let go of Arfoire as she returned back to Grunt.

Arfoire tried to stop the Elf Queen, but she passed out trying instead.

Upon waking up, it was already night. Arfoire found herself back to the World Tree of the Elf Village ruled by Histoire. Remembering her brought fear to her core as she tried to get up but her wounds and bruises from her previous fight proved a little too much for her too continue.

Croire entered her room and was glad to see her okay. The Dark Queen Elf told her that she assumed the role of the Elf Queen momentarily after they rescued Arfoire back in the lifeless forest.

Arfoire apologized to Croire with a tearful approach, saying that it was her fault why Histoire was taken as a hostage.

Croire tried to reassure her but Arfoire continued to cry, the Dark Elf Queen simply comforted her for the time being. After Arfoire stopped crying, she told Croire that she will go back tomorrow to where she met Grunt and to a place where sent him flying. Good news is, while Arfoire was unconscious, a Dark Elf warrior found out where Grunt and the Elf Queen was but they couldn't save her back due to the Elf Queen being possessed and a group large Trolls are protecting him.

They also thought that they are going to attack tomorrow while Grunt's position were still disheveled because of Arfoire's assault. Meanwhile, Arfoire nodded and thanked Croire.

The next day, a large group of powerful Elf Warriors are prepared to rescue their queen. Arfoire and Croire also participated, leaving the World Tree to the protection of the Dark Elves.

Everyone charged towards the area where they spotted Grunt. A few hours had passed, they finally arrived at the location. As expected, they found Grunt was still in the middle of preparing a big army of Trolls. While they were powerful enough, Croire needed Arfoire to fight Histoire but even with powerful Elf Warriors, a large group of Trolls were still too much for them, and with Grunt by, it will be much more difficult.

Fortunately, Arfoire found a big monster bigger than the trolls. She met an Ogre on the way here, she once asked the Ogre a help for a place but Ogre asked for a beautiful jewel.

But Arfoire was not carrying a precious item. Croire noticed this as she then gave Arfoire her crown, this shocked everyone because the crown adorned for them was such a precious item that is equivalent to their lives. But Croire silenced them by saying that it was their queen whom she was saving, this crown can be replaced by another. So everyone shut up.

Arfoire said that she will return back and that they must wait for them. They agreed as Arfoire left. The woman quickly traversed back to where she had gone. She landed on the ground and started to look around. Then, she felt a shook as she finally found the massive monster.

It was an Ogre, a massive creature that looks similar to Trolls but bigger and appeared to be stronger. Arfoire offered Croire's crown to the Ogre and asked for the help. The Ogre compiled as he told her to lead the way.

With new found hope, she guided the creature towards the lifeless forest.

A few minutes later, Arfoire finally arrived to the lifeless forest with the Ogre behind her. But it appeared that the battle had began. She found Croire fighting both the possessed Histoire and Grunt while the Elf Warriors struggled against the Trolls.

Arfoire brought a superpower of an Ogre to help the Elf Warriors as she charged to Histoire, breaking her fight against Croire as the Dark Elf Queen was left fighting Grunt, who does not like what was happening now.

Arfoire, she sent herself and Histoire flying to a land far from the battle. Arfoire pushed Histoire off of her as she faced the possessed Elf Queen, who only growled at her like an enraged monster.

The two fought against one another, Arfoire tried not to deal a great damage to Histoire as she controlled her newfound magic power. But whenever she did so, the possessed Histoire took advantage of this as she attacked Arfoire with a powerful magic. With nothing else, Arfoire proceed to use her weapon instead.

She tried to knock down Histoire by bonking the back of her head but it was proven difficult, so too to yanked the Thorns of Darkness from her. Arfoire was running out of options as she guiltily used her magic power against Histoire.

Her magic power appeared to be stronger than Histoire whenever their power clashed. This time, she will use her power. It seems that Histoire noticed what she was about to do as she charged at Arfoire to stop her.

But the woman had completed her spell as she sent a strong dark power right at Histoire. The possessed Elf Queen screamed in pain as she was sent back to the ground. A few seconds later, Histoire appeared to be unconscious, a little wounded from her magic spell.

Arfoire immediately yanked off the Thorns of Darkness from Histoire as she moved her away from it. But she was stopped as she noticed her dark powers suddenly attached itself to the Thorns of Darkness, Arfoire tried to pull back but her dark powers crushed the thorny crown, absorbing the darkness from the crushed thorns.

Suddenly, a strong rush of powerful dark magic flooded Arfoire's mind. Her mind was suddenly overloaded with a powerful, dark energy. She tried to control it, even though it was just yesterday after using such spell, she managed to put the darkness at bay.

She felt herself had gotten more powerful than before. She looked at herself and found the clothing that Histoire lent to her turned black and purple. She looked at Histoire and suddenly understand what was her power.

She still don't know why she was here but she found out the secret of her power. It is dark and ominous, a dangerous energy that can possess beings even the likes of Elf Queen Histoire.

Nonetheless, Arfoire carried Histoire back to the battle.

Arfoire returned back to the battle to find Croire had finally subjugated Grunt down. The Elf Warriors are cheering altogether after defeating the Trolls with the help of Ogre, who retreated back to the forest after the fight.

Croire was glad to see her older sister fine in Arfoire's arms. Arfoire then gave Histoire to Croire, she then asked if she saw a dragon lying around here. The Dark Elf Queen answered that she did not, even before the battle had began.

Arfoire passed the unconscious sister of Croire to her as she contemplated with sometimes in her mind. The Dark Elf Queen noticed and asked her what was wrong. Arfoire simply answered her that she had to find the dragon, and it appeared that she won't be coming back to the elven village anytime soon.

Croire understood the message that Arfoire needed to hunt down the dragon she certainly spoke of. She asked her when and Arfoire replied that it would be better if she leave now whilst the said small dragon was not yet that far. The Dark Elf Queen nodded as she called on the rest of the Elven warriors to ready to depart.

The Dark Elf Queen appreciated the help of Arfoire, the Dark Elf Queen readied herself to return back to the World Tree before she waved goodbye to Arfoire, who waved back at her. While the other Elven warriors bowed to her as a thanks for help.

As they all leave, Arfoire glared at the darkness behind her. That said darkness appeared to be a trail left behind by that small dragon after she put it down. She then started to follow the said trail.

For the years to come, Arfoire wandered throughout each continents, continuously following the trail of darkness that the small dragon left behind. On the way, she met many people, met many foes, met many races, many friends and many... tragedies. She spent countless time following the darkness, getting stronger by each moment.

Days turned to week, to months, to years, and even sometimes, to decades or centuries. She felt like she discovered the whole continents around the world, discovered many secrets that it offered. She also found out that something that was wrong with her; she had once saw her friends turned old, while she remained the same as ever as before.

At last, the trail of darkness seemed to finally stopped. There, Arfoire saw a big dragon. On the pile of beautiful flowers, lied the once small dragon that she had thought she killed, tired and seemed to had enough as it lied there.

Arfoire crept over its big body, ever so slowly until she reached the broken jaw of the dragon. She struck the dragon by the head and finally, finally, she killed the dragon after all this time. She simply stared at the dead body of the dragon before her mind was clouded with something evil.

Throughout all her life, following the trail of darkness, she also had to protect her consciousness from the dark powers she originally had. Every single bits of her life, she tried to stay the dark powers at bay. And now that she finally killed the dragon she originally wanted, she felt peace for a moment there and closed her eyes.

Her own mind went to sleep as her dark powers finally took over her body. The darkness controlling her thoughts started to consume the dragon.

And for countless of years, the darkness that possessed Arfoire remained away from the eyes of the world. All the while the civilizations of the four continents had advanced throughout the ages.
