Crimson.
Pure Crimson.
Pure Beautiful Crimson.
That was the color of her hair. That perfect shade of beautiful crimson you only get to see during sunrise and sunset. That beautiful color frames her face every day of her life.
It was her beautiful hair that caught his eye. He could spend hours of everyday looking at-
"WHITE"
Kurai White immediately jumps a little and remembers his surroundings. Class 3-A of Kuoh Academy. He blushes a little bit when he realizes that he got distracted staring... again.
"Yes Sensei?"
"Pay attention! And stop daydreaming"
"Sorry Sensei"
Kurai looks down at his book and is trying to hide his blush, which keeps getting bigger as his fellow students snicker at his predicament. The girl he was staring at looks back at him intrigued. Luckily for him, he just happened to glance back at her. Their eyes meet for one second.
Bright blue meets a gentle cyan. The moment seems to drag then, she turns away. Kurai's blush intensifies as he hurried to look at his book.
'AHHHHHHHHHHHH! Rias-senpai was looking at me!'
Rias. Rias Gremory. That was her name, the name of the girl whose hair was blessed with that perfect shade of crimson. Unfortunately for him, she was the most popular girl at school.
'Why can't I get her out of my head? I'll never have a shot. I'm barely an above average student, and even though I'm pretty good at Kendo, the club won't allow male members. I'm just glad they'll let me practice with them occasionally.'
The rest of the lesson passes on without difficulty. Kurai, in spite of his ADHD, focused all his attention on his schoolwork. However, he missed one very important moment, when both Rias and her best friend Akeno Himejima looked at him in interest.
The bell rings and as Kurai begins to pack he notices Rias get up to leave. He thinks for a split second about asking her if she wants to eat lunch together, but immediately decides against it. Rias and Akeno both leave for lunch. As Kurai finishes packing and walks by Rias' desk he notices one simple thing, Rias' phone.
He grabs it to go return it, luckily they hadn't gotten too far yet. However, the hall is quickly filling. Kurai pushes through the with one goal in mind.
"R-Rias-senpai!"
Kurai says as he gets close enough. She turns around, and takes his breath away for a moment. Her beautiful face with her perfect hair looks incredible.
"Yes? You need something, White-san?"
Kurai shakes his head to regain his senses.
"You forgot your phone in your desk." Kurai says as he holds out said device.
"Oh, I can't believe I forgot such a simple thing. Thank you White-san" Rias says as she reaches out to take her phone.
Their hands briefly touch one another. Kurai feels a shock run through his body.
"Ah, um it's not a problem. It was the right thing to do." Kurai says while sheepishly rubbing the back is his head. "Anyway that's all I needed, sorry for bothering you have a nice lunch Rias-senpai, you too Akeno-senpai"
Kurai gives a quick bow to both girls and runs off the eat his lunch. Rias stares at his back with an unreadable expression. Akeno just gives a slight smile at looks at her friend.
"Well he seems like a kind person. He also must have great control over his urges, he didn't look at your bust once, or mine!" Akeno says to Rias with a smirk on her face.
Rias gives a sigh, "Really Akeno, must you be so crass? He does a kind and considerate thing and this is your response?" she says as she turns around to her own lunch destination.
Akeno heads to follow her, and when they are alone enough she asks. "You felt it too right, the hidden power within him?"
With a perfectly straight face Rias replies. "Of course I felt it, he is hiding a lot of power. I could feel like just below the surface when our fingers brushed against one another's."
With that said and done, Rias and Akeno fall into a comfortable silence as they walk through the hallway.

Kurai is sitting on the school roof with his head in his hands, his lunch of the side. He's lost in his own thoughts for a moment and enjoying the breeze.
'I can't keep getting distracted by Rias-senpai while in class. I also need to stop getting flustered every time I'm near her.'
As Kurai sits there lost in his own head, the door to the roof opens and his best friend walks through. He walks over sits beside Kurai and says, "You know, your foods gonna get cold soon."
Kurai jumps and goes to smack whoever spoke in reflex. He immediately calms when he sees who it is. "Jesus Yuuto, you scared the shit outta me." Kurai had turn to get his food as he spoke so he missed Yuuto's wince when he said Jesus.
"Yeah, well you better eat before the fan girls get here." Yuuto says while before starting to eat his own food.
Kurai's best friend's full name was Yuuto Kiba, the most popular boy on campus. The friendship started before Yuuto's first school year, when the boys met at a local gym to practice their swordplay. They had a spar to test their different styles, Kurai with Kendo and Yuuto with a more European style, it ended in a tie with an unbreakable bond between the newfound friends/rivals.
The boys continue their lunch in relative silence until Yuuto asks Kurai a simple question that he knows will irritate his best friend. "So, how's that crush on Buchou going?"
"Ughhhh, you know how it's going. It's as strong as ever. You are so lucky you get to spend every day with Rias-senpai. If only your stupid Occult Research Club wasn't invite only." Kurai grumbles.
Yuuto gives a light chuckle. "Sorry man, you know I keep putting in a good word for you though. Plus, it got your mind off whatever you were brooding about earlier."
"I wasn't brooding. I don't brood. That's Sasuke's thing." Kurai says with a slight blush at being called out.
Yuuto shakes his head. "I don't know how I keep forgetting that you're as much as an otaku as Buchou."
"Damn straight and I'm proud of it!" Kurai almost shouts out. He then realizes an extremely important fact. He turns and then shouts in his best friend's face. "RIAS-SENPAI IS AN OTAKU?!"
Yuuto pushes Kurai back from his faces. "One, keep your voice down I'm right here. Two, don't tell anyone that Buchou will kill me. Three, I haven't already told you this?"
Kurai looks at Yuuto incredulously. "No," He barely manages to not shout, "It apparently never struck your mind that I should have known that so I might be able to start a conversation with Rias-senpai."
Yuuto raises his hands in a surrendering motion. "Sorry dude, must have slipped my mind."
Kurai sighs and looks back at what's left of his food. "It's fine I'll get a chance at some point." He then finishes off what left. "Anyway, lunch is almost over so I'm gonna head back to class. See ya later Yuuto!" Kurai says as he walks off and waves a goodbye.
"See ya tomorrow!" Yuuto says as he waves back.
As Kurai walks back to his classroom he mentally prepares himself to stay focused for the rest of the day. Higashikata-Sensei was already upset with him for losing focus earlier today.
—
The rest of the day passes without any incidents. Kurai was so focused on his mental prep he didn't even notice Rias walk in. As he heads home for the day he passes a woman dressed in a fairly erotic and revealing bat-based outfit.
"Excuse me sir!"
She calls out right at Kurai passes. He stops and looks at her. She's holding out one of her many fliers.
"For good luck sir." She says.
"Thank you." Kurai says politely as he takes a flier. He then continues walking, while looking at the flier. It's got a strange pentagram on it with text that reads, "Make your desires come true~" Kurai quirks an eyebrow has he see this. He folds up the paper and sticks it in his back pocket planning on throwing it away when he gets home.
Kurai is walking over a bridge, when he hears a voice call out.
"Excuse me!"
Kurai turns around and again quirks an eyebrow at yet another strange sight. In front of him is a fairly attractive girl, with black hair that matches his own, violet eyes, and wearing a school uniform he doesn't recognize. Before Kurai can speak the girl continues.
"M-my name is Yuma Amano. I've seen you cross this bridge every day after school. I was hoping you'd go out with me?" The now named Yuma says with a bow.
Kurai is temporarily stunned, then feels an immense guilt for his next words. "I'm sorry Yuma, I'm interested in someone else. However, we can exchange phone numbers, if it doesn't work with the girl I like we can give it a shot." Kurai tries to say as nicely as possible.
Yuma then gets this extremely pissed off look in her eyes. Kurai unconsciously takes a step back. Yuma then says "All this fucking planning, it was supposed to be fucking easy, I show up looking like a cute high school girl, ask you out, you take me on a date, and then I kill you, but no guess I'll just kill you now!"
"S-show up looking like a high school girl, ki-kill me? What's going, what are you talking about?" Kurai askes with another step back.
"Oh right I still look human." Yuma says. Black bird like wings then burst out of her back, her body matures from that of a teen to that of an adult. He clothes burst off and transform into what looks like some BDSM gear. "That's better." She says after the transformation.
"Wha-what are you?" Kurai asks with slight fear.
"My real name is Raynare, I am a Fallen Angel. You, meanwhile are just a lowly human, but you hold an incredible power which makes you a threat." Raynare says before forming a pink spear of what looks like pure light.
Faster than he can react, Raynare throws the spear piercing him straight through the stomach. He coughs out large amount of blood and falls on his back to the ground. He can see Raynare fly off into the distance, headed towards the mountains near town. Kurai manages to pull his hand up an look at it, it's covered in his blood, his crimson blood.
'Ah, I'm dying. Didn't think it would be this soon. Heh, bleeding out to death from a massive hole in my gut not how I thought I'd go out.'
Kurai puts his hand back down and has his last thoughts.
'Rias-senpai, I'm sorry I never got to tell you how I felt. I'm sorry I was a coward and didn't talk to you. I wish I could see your beautiful face surrounded by your gorgeous hair one last time.'
The flier in Kurai's back pocket has been glowing unbeknownst to him. As he takes his final breath a magic circle appears, and out steps one Rias Gremory. She sees his fresh corpse lying on the ground and sighs sadly at the sight.
"Don't worry White-san, this won't be the end for you." She says as she summons a few blood-red chess pieces.
