Prompt 469 [Fantastic Beasts] Jacob Kawalski

"Newt, what in Merlin's name is that supposed to be?" Tina asked, laughing at her husband as she inspected his costume. He seemed to be dressed all in green, with a type of reflective material that reflects lights to make it look shimmering. She was dressed as a vampire. Her completion was white with makeup, with fake fangs and all.

"I'm a salamander," he said, twirling around and making her burst out into laughter.

"I see," she said. Newt could tell she didn't really see, she was simply being nice. He always loved how she seemed to accept and embrace all the strange things about him that he never thought anyone would.

"I love you," he said with a grin.

"I love you too," she replied. "Come on, then, let's get going."

Newt arrived first, and they made sure to set up the ballroom with a photography booth, as well as a magical petting zoo for the children.

When everything was ready, he went to go find his friend and get him to the engagement party.

"Jacob, where are you mate?" he asked, Apparating straight into their house. He came across Jacob and Queenie making out in the kitchen, and they broke apart just a second too late to stop him from seeing what they were doing.

"That was the...the sweetest...most nauseating thing I had to witness," Newt exclaimed, dramatically covering his eyes.

"Newt," Jacob asked. "What are you wearing?"

"My costume?" he replied puzzled. "Didn't you guys know the theme of the party?"

"Oh gosh, I forgot all about that," Queenie exclaimed. She switched her magic wand and a cascade of sparkles fell over her, turning her into a fairy, complete with wings. As for Jacob, he was suddenly dressed like a cowboy, and Jacob blushed crimson.

The party was a great success, and everyone had a lovely time. Even Theseus and Leta showed up and mingled with them for a while.

When it was time, Newt stepped up to the podium and watched a silence fall over the crowd.

"I have never been good at speaking around people, but the great thing about Jacob is, I've never needed to." The audience was thrilled by him, and everyone was hanging on his words. Jacob was merely grinning at him from across the room.

"Jacob has been my best friend ever since the day we met, and I've seen him and Queenie together, and they are simply perfect for one another."

He paused, and his eyes landed on Jacob. "Congratulations buddy," he said. "I'm glad you have someone to be beside you when you need it, and always cheer you up."

"Here, here!" a voice cried from the crowd.

"You're my best friend, Jacob Kowalski, and whenever things seem tough, I'll always be there for you."

A collective "awwww," echoed through the crowd, and Tina noticed her husband wipe a tear from his cheek.

"Always, buddy," Newt finished, and a round of applause came from the guests. "You've got a friend in me."
