Song: Escape (The Pina Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, Romione, or the Pina Colada Song. Those belong to J. K. Rowling (my queen) and Rupert Holmes (respectively).

POV: Ron Weasley

I do love Hermione, I always have, but lately things have been rough. What am I saying? The last 4 years of our marriage have been rough!

It's always one argument after the next.

We've tried marriage counseling, wizard and muggle, nothing helps. I think she's considering a divorce, and I can only hope it won't come to that.

This morning I woke up pretty early. I stayed quiet so I wouldn't wake Hermione, and I read the paper in bed. I passed over the articles on the latest criminal captures by Aurors, a list of people that had recently been fired at the ministry.

I was briefly interested in an article talking of an extremely late Death Eater capture, but after reading through half of it I found it just as boring as all the Death Eater captures 6 years ago. Then, a letter in the personal columns caught my eye.

If you like Pina Coladas,

and getting caught in the rain,

if your not into yoga,

if you have half a brain,

if you like making love at midnight,

in the dunes of the cape,

I'm the love that you've looked for, write to me, and escape.

I was intrigued after reading this letter. For awhile I simply ignored it, I was a married man after all. But something kept nagging at me to answer it. A few days later I wrote to the paper for my own letter. I'm not a poet, but the letter came out alright, in my opinion.

Yes I like Pina Colada's,

and getting caught in the rain,

I'm not much into health food,

I am into champagne,

I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon,

and cut through all this red tape.

At that bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape.

I knew this was a horrible idea. I was being extremely unfaithful. The only excuse I could think up for myself was to not think of it as a date. I was just meeting a new person, right?

The next day, at noon as I had promised, I told Hermione a little itty bitty lie.

"Hermione, I'm, er, meeting some guys for lunch today, alright?" I said. Hermione actually looked a bit delighted at this information. I assumed she wanted me out of the house.

"Where are you going?" she asked.

I wondered if I should tell the truth. My fib grew a bit.

"The Leaky Cauldron" I decided.

She smiled and said politely, "Have fun."

I left for O'Malley's and waited for a while. I had left a small note in my letter telling this mystery lady how to find me in the bar. But I didn't need any explanation after all, for I knew her the minute she walked in.

The bushy mane of brown hair, the way her face curved, and the shadow of large front teeth that had been straightened so long ago... Hermione.

At first I panicked thinking she'd followed me here, and she was gonna find out about my date, but after things fell in place for the both of us she said, "Oh, it's you."

She looked as ashamed and amused as I did. We laughed for a moment, and then I said, "Hermione, I never knew…"

That you like Pina Colada's,

and getting caught in the rain,

and the feel of the ocean,

and the taste of champagne,

if you like making love at midnight,

in the dunes of the cape,

You're the love that I've looked for, come with me and escape.

Something about that day changed our marriage. I don't think we'll ever know exactly what it was, but things most definitely improved.

Our commuication skills improved too.

We started doing things together we never knew we both liked.

We renewed our vows to remind us of the love we both shared (and second wedding meant second honeymoon ;).

To sum it all up we evolved, left our old unhappy marriage behind.

We made our escape.

If you like Pina Coladas,

and getting caught in the rain,

if your not into yoga,

if you have half a brain,

if you like making love at midnight,

in the dunes of the cape,

I'm the love that you've looked for, write to me, and escape.

I'm actually pretty proud of this. Make a quick stop at that review box, some constructive criticism would really make my day. Or even just something short means a lot to me. Cya next fic!
