Episode 1 : The real Zac

Daytime,friendly atmosphere.
In the moon pool, with Rikki, Mimmi, Ondina, Weilan.
Rikki : I feel like there is something very strange here. The moon pool is very different from the one I knew.
Mimmi : It must have been such a long time you didn't come here.
Ondina : Things have changed a lot recently, actually.
Rikki : Yeah, but I have some weird feelings that I can't explain.
Mimmi : Are you sure? You know, time is passing and memories are fading.
Rikki : All these items on the ground weren't there, and there was an opening here on a river.
Ondina (kidding): That's weird, indeed. You were drunk? Weren't you ?
Laughs. (5 sec)
Rikki : That's not funny, I was a slightly rebellious teen, but maybe not that crazy. And Mako was also so different … hmm … maybe... I think …
Transition : Zac and Mimmi, walking and chatting on the beach (shot 5 sec)
Mimmi : So! Have you announced the news to your parents ?
Zac : What? No ! To tell you the truth, I'm quite afraid of the way they will react.

Zac : Good morning. Have a sit. I have to tell you something really important.

Zac : I want to tell you something about my birth.
Parents de Zac : So, you know more about it ?
Zac : If you are okay, tomorrow morning I would be able to explain everything to you. I just need to bring two people with me, it's very important.
At Rita's (in the grotto), afternoon : (shot 5 sec)
Rita : How lucky you are, Zac ! From today, you will be able to get to know your mother and sister better.
Mimmi : And get use to mermaid life.
Zac : At least, merman life instead...
Nerissa : My dear children, I've got so much to tell you. But first, tell me everything about your lives.
Mimmi : When I was a little mermaid, it was quite difficult for me to fit with the way of life of south mermaids. But I've met such beautiful people like Ondina, we shared a lot of good times together. A few months ago, a weird feeling that I can't explain made me come here, and this changed my life forever . When I heard about this young human turned into a merman, I felt irresistibly attracted, and curious to know more about him.
Zac : We've always been connected. It was our fate to be together again.
Nerissa (hugging and kissing Mimmi) : I'm so glad to hear that you had a good life with the south mermaids. And I'm so happy to be here now and learn to know you. What about you, Zac ? How was your life on land ?
Zac : Until a few months ago, I lived a normal teen life, I was attending school like every teenager, I lived a happy life with my two wonderful parents who love me more than anything. I met Evie who is my amazing girlfriend. Then, I went on Mako, on a full moon night and I fell in the moon pool. Since then, everything changed but I've met wonderful people and learned to live as a merman . A few months ago, I also found out that I had a mermaid sister and a mermaid mother.
Nerissa (crying, hugging and kissing Mimmi and Zac) : Your two stories warm my heart. I was so worried when I had to leave both of you.
Is Evie the girl who was with you in the moon pool, the night I was a dragon?
Zac : Yes, and as a dragon you removed her powers and tail …
Nerissa (confused) : Did I ? I hope she will forgive me.
Mimmi : I'm so sad for her, she was one of us, I think she deserves so much to be a mermaid. Do you think that we could find a way to make Evie recover her powers?
Rita : Like all of you, I don't have a clue about it.
Nerissa : Unfortunately, I've heard that consequences of dragon attacks were irreversible.
Zac : But now, you are no more a dragon. Is there a chance that, if the dragon doesn't exist anymore, the spell could be broken?
Nerissa (thinking) : Maybe we could find a way… But we have to wait for a full moon night...
Mimmi : It will be the night after tomorrow.
Transition at night, outside view at Rita's. (10 sec) At Zac's, the following day.
Zac's mother : Hey Zac! It appears that today is an important day for you !
Zac : I would rather say that today is an important day for our family. I hope you'll understand.
Zac's father : But, understand what ?
Nerissa and Mimmi arrive. (shot 5 sec)
Nerissa : Hello, I'm Nerissa.
Mimmi : And my name is Mimmi..
Zac's mother : We are so pleased to meet you.
They have a sit on the sofa. (shot 5 sec)
Zac : Firstly, something important. Nerissa is my biological mother.
Zac's father : Is it true ? But why didn't you reveal yourself during our researches ?
Nerissa : It's much more complicated than you think. (breathing) In fact, there was a great threat for Zac where we lived. That's the reason why, I left him on the beach where you found him, far from home, and I left his sister, on Mako island.
Zac's mother : His sister ? On Mako Island ? But how is it possible ? There is nobody living there. And why Zac was endangered at home ?
Mimmi : I'm Zac's elder sister.. Nerissa and me are mermaids.
Zac : And I'm a merman.
Zac's father (the parents are shocked by the news ) : Excuse me ? Are you kidding ? That's … impossible ! such creatures don't even exist.
Zac : I'll show you. Look.
Zac, pouring a glass of water on himself and changing into a merman. (shot 10 sec)
Zac : A year and a half ago,when Cam and I went camping on Mako, I was attracted by a weird glow that came from a cave hidden in the jungle. I followed it and fell in a pool. It was a full moon night, and it appeared that the cave was magical as well as the pool. The day after, when I touched water I changed into a merman.
Mimmie : And hold on tight, the most extraordinary is that we've got magical powers..
Mimmie making a water ball fly, making herself invisible. (shot 10 sec)
Nerissa : And thanks to magic, I hid the merman side of Zac with a spell. The moon pool - the pool in which Zac fell - broke the spell.
Zac's father (seeking his words) : Well… It is really impressive ! I think we'll need some time to get used to that idea. Now I understand better some of your strange behaviour these last months. We just hope that's all safe for you, we love you so much and we don't want to lose you. (hugging and kissing Zac who has changed again into a teenage boy).
Nerissa : Oh my God, you can't imagine what kind of dangers we are up to... But fortunately into the sea our powers are very useful to protect us.
Zac's mother (crying and seeking her words) : Wow , I wasn't expecting such astonishing news. I'm so happy that you got together again with you sister and your mother. (hugging Zac).
Zac : Dad, Mum I've hesitated a long time before deciding to tell you about Nerissa and Mimmie. I was so scared about your reaction. I was afraid to lose your love.
Zac parents (hugging and kissing him) : We love you so much son as you are.
Zac's mother : We'll discuss this again later, I hope we'll learn more about you and your world Nerissa.
Nerissa : So do I.
Zac's mother : Nice to have met you. (hugging Nerissa and Mimmie). To Nerissa : Where are you living by the way? We would be very happy to have you home.

Mimmie : Mummy, there are Sirena, Carly, Cam and Evie.
Nerissa : Good morning Evie, I've heard a lot about you. Are you the land girl who lost her powers because of my attack, when I was a dragon ?
Evie : That's me. But I'm not mad at you. I love being a land person.
Mimmi : We are looking for a way to give you back your magical powers.
Evie : Is that true? ! But how ?
Zac : You have to go back to the moon pool at full moon.
Nerissa : You'll have to swim in the moon pool, on a full moon night. Maybe a mix between the fifty full moons potion with the cancellation powder could work. Do you want to give it a try?
Evie : Yeah, for sure ! But what is cancellation powder ?
Nerissa : It's rather like an inversion potion, but with a stronger effect.
David : So Evie the mermaid could be soon back again !
Evie : Yeah. I hope so !
Mimmi : Don't worry, we'll be soon back racing in the reef !
David : Sirena, I've got to talk to you, please ?
Sirena (to the others , going with David) : I have to go. See you this evening !
David : Are you ready for tomorrow evening concert ?
Sirena : Yes. But I'll have to leave early. I hope you understand.
David : Don't worry about this. Have you got free time now ? My service ends in ten minutes and I would like to spend some time with you. Are you okay to meet me at the rocky beach ?
Sirena : That was so long ago… I agree. See you soon !
Transition on the rocky beach. (5 sec)
David : I really appreciate that you are back again ! I hope your travel in Hawaii with Aquata was great.
Sirena : It was so enjoyable ! Mermaid of Hawaii's pod receive us and we ate local culinary specialities as local lobsters, other shellfish and delicious exotic fishes.
David : It seems tasty ! However I need to tell you something… During your trip a lot of things happened here. Weilan, an Eastern Pod mermaid arrived, followed by a sixty-feet cold dragon fire. This dragon was Zac and Mimmi's mother, under the influence of a terrible spell.
Sirena : Indeed, I've heard about this story. So you didn't get too bored during my absence.
David : Absolutely not, but I missed you very much. I was thinking about you every day. I hope Aquata's fine.
Sirena : She is recovering from our long separation, and she thanks you for having taking care of me during her absence.
David : That was natural.
Siren a : You know, my holidays with my sister were the best of my life.
David : That's not surprising. Mermaids don't really take holidays. Don't you?
Sirena : You're not wrong. Mermaids life is different than human life. But sometimes they could travel.
David : Especially as you've got a large advantage. You don't need to take the plane.
Sirena : The plane ?
David : Yeah, these flying metallic boxes. Humans, use them to long distance journeys.
Sirena : It seems awful. Travelling in so small boxes !
David : We are used to travel like this.
Sirena : What do you think about going for a swim?
David : What a good idea !
Diving in the sea, swimming, smiling and looking at each other. (20 sec)
David : I enjoyed a lot swimming with you.
Sirena : Me too. It's always nice to be in your company.
David : Let's do it again soon !
Sirena : With pleasure !
Mimmi : I'm going to work.
Nerissa : Work... ?
Mimmie : Yeah, I've started to work at the marine park months ago. For money.
Nerissa : Money ? What a strange society land people have. But it's a very wet place. Isn't it risky for our secret ?
Mimmi : You know, I've learned to deal with it. And I've met Chris, an awesome young man fond of dolphins. I told him who I really was.
Nerissa : Well... Your secret is not well kept anymore!
Changing background : at the marine park. Mimmi is selling stuffed dolphins. Then, Chris arrives. (plan 10 sec)
Chris : Hello Mimmi, everything's okay for my favourite mermaid ?
Mimmi : Yes, wonderfully. I feel so great because I found my mother : Nerissa.
Chris : A mermaid too ?
Mimmi : Of course !
Mimmi: If you have a moment, at the end of the day, I could teach you dolphin's language...
Chris : What ? You can speak dolphin language ? That's awesome! Indeed, that's why you understand the dolphins of the park so well !
Later in the afternoon, at the marine park, near the pools.
Mimmi : The language of dolphins session begins…
Chris : Is it difficult to learn ?
Mimmi : It's quite hard at the beginning, indeed. Can you move into the water, please ? To greet the dolphin, relax you, and welcome it. Then, you say : dolphin sound 1.
Chris : dolphin sound 1. Is it good ?
Mimmi : You need to practice..But it's a good start. I've practiced this language during many years before mastering it.
The director of the marine park arrives. (shot 5 sec)
Him : Hey kids, what are you doing ? Was it my imagination or are you speaking with dolphins!?
Mimmi : No, uh ,yes, in a way.

Progressive transition of background : At Zac's. Nerissa is speaking to Zac's parents, Zac and Evie are there too. (5 sec)
Zac's mother (to Nerissa): What is it like to live a mermaid life ?
Nerissa : Life in the sea is totally different from life on the land. Throughout the day, we swim in the reef to collect food and shells, we talk, we sing with the others members of the pod.
Zac's father (disoriented) : The… pod ?
Nerissa : Yes, a bit like a shoal of fish. The pod is our family. A pod may contain hundreds of mermaids.
Evie : And me, I've been turned into a mermaid recently. I lost my powers because of a water dragon attack.
Zac's parents (looking shocked)
Zac's father : A what…?A water dragon ! When you told us about dangers we didn't imagine such creatures !
Nerissa : I was the water dragon. Aurora, a rebel mermaid, cast a spell on me.
Evie : I've learnt so much when I was a mermaid. Being a mermaid, it's not only having powers. It is also enjoying ocean and nature, helping each other, and many others beautiful things.
Nerissa : Absolutely, Evie !
Zac suggests Nerissa and Mimmi to come and swim with him in the reef . They swim at different speed and observe. They find a very uncommon shell. Mimmi duplicates it two times with her moon ring (one copy for Rita and the other one for Zac's parents) After a while, they notice an unknown mermaid. They decide to follow her. She goes at Rita's. After arriving at Rita's home, upstairs, Rita introduce Cassiopeia to Mimmi, Nerissa and Zac. (shot 1 min)
Rita : Hello, this is Cassiopeia.
Cassiopeia : Hi.
Mimmi: You are the mermaid who doesn't feel comfortable in Mako's pod, aren't you ?
Cassiopeia : Yeah, it's me. I'm here to learn more about human life. Rita is so kind to welcome me.
Mimmi : Nice to meet you, Cassiopeia. And here are Nerissa, my mother, and Zac, my younger brother. We were born in the Northern pod.
Cassiopeia : You are a merman ? Stay away from me !
Mimmi : Don't worry, he's very friendly.
Cassiopeia : I can't trust mermen.
Mimmi : Don't worry Zac, she will quickly learn to know you.
Rita (to Mimmi and Zac) : Can you show her around?
Zac : Cassiopeia, here is the grotto where Mimmi lives with Rita.
Cassiopeia : It's beautiful. Oh, a cat. It is so cute !
Mimmi : It is Poseidon, he's really nice.
Mimmi : Nerissa is our mother. We've recently found her.

Later that day. Rita talks about Cassiopeia's behavior with Mimmi, Sirena and Zac. (10 sec)
Rita : I'm so sorry that Cassiopeia doesn't understand who you really are Zac.
Zac : Don't worry, I can understand her feelings.
Mimmi : She has openly insulted Zac, when we were in the moon pool. And she wanted to get rid of Zac.
Sirena : Mimmi is totally right… But where is Cassiopeia ?
Rita : Well ! She should be home by now.
Sirena : Remember Mimmi? You told her not to come back, a few hours ago.
Mimmi : You're right. She must be blaming us all around the sea.
Later, at Rita's, in the grotto. The night is almost falling. (plan 5 sec)
Mimmi : But where did she disappear ?
Evie : Who are you talking about ?
Mimmi : A mermaid from the pod of Mako came at Rita's to test land people life. She fled a few hours ago after an argument about Zac. Since then, we don't know where she could be.
Evie : Maybe she's in trouble.
Zac : We have to find her.
Mimmi : What ! Are you serious? She's awful with you and on top of that you want to help her ?!
Zac : Yeah, that's what I'm saying ? So what do we do?
Rita : Let's think about it ! When Cassiopeia left the moon pool, what direction did she take ?
Mimmi : We didn't seen anything, or almost nothing.
Sirena : She let her moon ring ! She is not safe.
Zac : We must find her quickly !
Mimmi : I think I know where can be.
Zac :Where ?
Mimmi : Follow me.
They swim at full speed through the dark water of twilight, toward a part of a reef calm and quiet. (plan 10 sec) Surfacing and talking.
Zac : But where is she ?
Mimmi : It's so strange, I thought she could be here.
Zac : We need to consult the land people.
They swim fast (shot 10 sec), later, on land(shot 5 sec). Evie calls Carly.(shot 5 sec)
Evie : Hello Carly,we have a serious problem with a mermaid. The more we are to find her the better it will be. Would you join us ?
Carly : The only thing I think about, is that if I were such a trouble maker I would hide in a place where nobody would come to find me, a dark and isolated place, a dangerous place. By the way, I can't stay. See you tomorrow!
Evie : Yeah! Sure… A dangerous and dark place… Thank you so much Carly. I'll tell it to Mimmi and Zac.
They come back at Rita's. (10 sec)
Evie : Zac, Mimmi : according to Carly, Cassiopeia could be in a dark and dangerous place of the reef.
Zac : It fits with the character.
Mimmi : I'm afraid to know that such place exists in the reef. The shark pit!When I was young, I was afraid to go there, even during the day.
Zac : So, let's go !
Evie : Be careful ! (kissing Zac)
Rita : Don't worry. They know what they are doing.
They swim fast. Then, they are looking for Cassiopeia in the shark pit.(plan 15 sec).
Mimmi : Zac ! Look I can see her over there !
Zac : Ok I'll catch her.
Mimmi : Bad idea! Remember, she can't bear mermen ? I've got to deal with it.
Mimmi : Cassiopeia ! It's me, Mimmi. I'm sorry for what I've told you a few hours ago. Come with me! Don't you know this place is dangerous ?
Cassiopeia : Leave me alone ! I know this reef like the tip of my tail and it's not a Northern mermaid like you who will tell me where I can go or not !
Zac : Look out ! There are rocks falling from the reef edge !
Rocks, falling. (5 sec). Zac swimming fast toward Cassiopeia. (5 sec). He turns the tide (5 sec) and the rocks fall on him. He collapses. Mimmi and Cassiopeia take him at Rita's. (10 sec)
Evie : What did you do to my boyfriend ? Cassiopeia, it is you ?
Cassiopeia : Who is she ?
Rita : This is Evie, Zac's girlfriend. She has been a mermaid for a while.
Cassiopeia (a bit embarrassed) : Uh, I'm sorry for your boyfriend, Evie. I didn't mean that.
Mimmi : As she refused to come with me ,Zac risked his life to save her.
Evie : Do something, please ! Moon rings have the power to heal, don't they ?
Rita : Absolutely, Evie. But, in this situation, waiting is better.
Zac waking up, slowly (5 sec).
Zac : What happened to me ?
Cassiopeia : How do you feel ? I'm sincerely sorry for every negative thing I say about you. I had a stupid behavior and you save my life ! I thank you again, Zac.
Zac : Thanks for your apologies, Cassiopeia.
Mimmi (to Cassiopeia) : At last ! It was time that you understand that the rivalries between mermaids and mermen belong to the past.
Transition with a shot at Rita's, at dawn. (5 sec) At the Ocean Café in the morning before school(5 sec)
David (to Nerissa, Cassiopeia, Evie and Zac): Hey, you look exhausted. Something happened to you ?
Nerissa : David, this is Cassiopeia. She's a mermaid from the pod of Mako. Yesterday, Zac risked his life to save her.
David (embarrassed) : Nice to meet you, Cassiopeia. What can I get you ? I have a new recipe, inspired by Weilan, named subtropical cocktail.
Nerissa : Evie, today is an important day for you! You are going to be a mermaid again! Are you nervous ?
Evie : No, I'm fine !
Nerissa : I don't wanna scare you, but you are the first land girl to whom this happens, and sincerely I don't know how things would turn out. You may faint, like the first time.
Evie : Whatever! Thank you so much, for trying!
Nerissa : Meet me at Rita's at 5pm. We are going to prepare all the ingredients we need.
Carly :Hey Evie, so what do we do ? I'd like to go to the movie and then hang out together ...
Evie : OK. But I must leave early, I have to be at rita's at 5pm, to become a mermaid again.
Carly : Wow, tonight, already?
Evie : You got it, I feel a bit nervous.
Transition after the movie, Evie and Carly walking on the beach. (5 sec)
Evie : You had a great idea, I loved this movie !
Carly : It was one of the best I've ever seen. You'll soon be back in the sea world! Fish tail and magical powers…
Evie : Yeah, I could never thought that I would miss all this that much!
Transition : Fast swim to Rita's grotto (10 sec).
Nerissa : Evie here you are! We are going by the cancellation powder, some jellyfish extract, brown tufted seaweed, … and the last one, lamentation pebble powder, that' a rare pebble...
Mimmi : We don't have that!
Nerissa : Moon rings are really powerful! Look and learn (using her moon ring) "Full moon I summon your power ! Turn this liquid into lamentation pebble powder"
Evie : What kind of magic is this? I didn't know that mermaids could do that? It looks like witches spells ?
Nerissa : This powerful magic needs spells. do you really believe that witches and wizards exist?
Zac : What a strange name for a pebble !
Mimmi : This Northern ocean pebble make mermaids cry, it also helps to undo spells, like this cancellation powder.
Nerissa : Now I add fifty moons potion to amplify the power of the moon on the moon pool.
Nerissa preparing 50 moons potion. (10 sec)
