Chapter 1

"Thanks for calling me, Kai... No, it's not about the capture of Dr Animus this morning that I wanted to talk to you... Neither of the fact that Harangue tried for the thousand time to blame me for the troubles caused in the city; man, when will that guy come to his senses that I'm a hero and not a criminal?!".

"Not even in a million years", replied the Navajo girl while chuckling, "Seriously though Ben, what was so important that you decided to call me at this hour to tell me?".

"Well, it's not an easy thing to say", said the teen, while scratching his head with a little of embarrassment, "Remember that time when Spanner revealed to us that in the future where he came from we would have married?".

"Is this the thing that you wanted to talk about?", replied the girl slightly annoyed, "Ben, I thought that we were over with that thing, I mean we're just dating... It's not like that we will be forced to marry with each other someday, only because a time traveler told us about it, right?".

"I know that you're right Kai, but I can't stop thinking about how much my life has been influenced by all these kind of revelations... It's almost as if my life had already been decided by someone else, who thinks that I'm just the protagonist of some kind of reality show... Oh man, now I'm starting to remember about that buzzer of Charles Zenith" "I'll say", replied Kai, slightly made uncomfortable in remembering that embarrassing time, "Speaking of other, which revelations are you talking about?".

"Let me just think about it", answered the teen, while trying to remember some of the events that had influenced his life, "I met my future counterpart and learned that someday I'd have become become the greatest superhero of all the entire galaxy, a time traveler revealed to me that I would have married you, the conductor of an alien TV show forced me to choose you as my girlfriend... Do I have to continue or is that enough?".

"I get your point", interrupted him Kai, "I understand how you feel, Ben; it's not easy being at the center of the attention of everyone in the galaxy, but you've got to remember this: we're the ones who choose our own destiny and no one has the right of telling us who we must be".

"I guess you make a point", replied the teen, while pointing out an eye on the Omnitrix; that alien wristwatch had been an important part of his life for a long time, yet he still felt like that it was some kind of destiny that he was the one who found it; ever since he had saved the universe from the Chronosapien time bomb and his encounter with the Contumelia species, he had started to feel that maybe his life had already been decided somewhere by someone.

"Ben? Are you still there?" "What? Oh yeah, sorry about keeping you stand by", said Ben, suddenly brought back by the girl's words, "I was just immersed in my thoughts, nothing that you need to worry about".

From the other side of the phone, Kai bursted into a small laugh, "Just because you're immersed in your thoughts should give me a reason to worry about?".

Before Ben could have answered her, a loud and powerful explosion from the outside caught the young superhero attention; the teen quickly leaned over the window of his bedroom and saw a huge column of smoke rising from the central zone of Bellwood.

"Ben? What was that sound?" "More trouble for me, I guess", simply replied the boy, while gesturing with the Omnitrix holographic pad, "Listen, I'll try to call you later, now I think that I'll be pretty busy in the next hours".

"Okay; just promise me that you won't do anything rash" "It is easier said than done when you are Ben 10", thought the teen, while finally selecting an alien from the pad of the wristwatch and making the core rise up, "Come on, give me something good that I can use",before jumping off the window and slamming down the core.

A.N; Hey guys, happy Easter, here we are again, now with a new story and a new franchise ready to rumble! This time my choice ended up on the Ben 10 franchise, a great animated series that I've always enjoyed and of which I'vebeen vvery disappointed when it received a campy reboot that in my opinion only made things worse, just like another cartoon series that you may know about.

Sorry for keeping you in hiatus for a while, but after completing the previous story I decided that I would have rested for some time before going back to writing again.

Then there was the thing of a little one shot that I transformed into a collection of stories, which also took a part of my free time.

Anyway, now I'm back in business at full power, so expect a new chapter to come out!
