A/N Things have been crazy and getting ideas together just isn't happening…lol. I was so annoyed with the Savis part of last Wed. episode I debated on re-writing it or trying to work through it. So here's my attempt at working through it.
Sonny was angrier than he had been in a very long time. All he was trying to do was defend the valor of the trident. Isn't that what they did? Not to mention he only pushed the guy had he known there was going to be an issue he would have beat the crap out of him. Now, even his brothers were turning on him and telling him he was wrong. How did this become his fault?
He cranked up his truck and after driving around aimlessly for a couple of hours, he and headed to the one place that would accept him, the Boom Boom Room. Sitting outside the anger still boiling. His brothers were leaving on deployment and he would be stuck in the states. He hit his hand on the steering wheel. Ray's words echoed in his mind "We're a man down because of you." Sonny shook his head. Thinking about havoc being compromised and something happening to Lisa but him not being there terrified him. What if it happened again?
He wanted so badly to talk to her but he had already told her that he didn't want to have anything less than serious with her. He threw his phone in the passenger seat to avoid calling or texting her. She was his emergency contact though… and if he appeared to have too much… well, they wouldn't have any choice but to call right? Sonny walked in and ordered a shot. A little later he stumbled over to the bar. "Hey, hey can I get a um" he paused shaking his head, "a uh, nother round of makers?" he asked. The bartender didn't think she had served him that much but wasn't keeping track. "I think maybe it's time to slow down" she smiled "Nah" Sonny replied before stumbling over. "Is he ok?" one of the bouncers asked heading over. "Yeah, he's just had too much. I have an emergency contact on file for him" the bartender replied picking up the phone. Sonny smiled at his plan working.
Lisa walked into a briefing room with Mandy to go over some intel. Her cell starting ringing and the ID came up "Boom Boom Room." Lisa rolled her eyes and flipped it over. "Why's the Boom Boom Room calling you?" Mandy asked with a chuckle. "It's fine" Lisa replied getting back to work.
"No answer" the bartender said as the smile quickly faded from Sonny's face. She walked around the bar to try and get him up. "hey" she tapped him. "Oh, hey" he said getting up. "I tried your emergency contact but they didn't answer. I'll try again in a minute if you want some water." She explained as she tried to lead him to a bar stool. "Nah, that's ok, I'm fine." He replied suddenly sounding more sober. "You sure?" she asked "Yeah. Yeah. I'm good" Sonny told her as he got up and headed out the door.
Climbing into his truck his heart breaks. She didn't answer. "Nice of her to be concerned" he thought as he stared at the parking lot. When she had her disciplinary hearing, he didn't once question if she was in the wrong. Not once. He stood up for her and spoke from the heart. When everything happened in Venezuela, he told her he'd burn it all down had something happened to her. "Should've known better than to be so open with someone." He thought as he put the keys in the ignition. He really thought she would pick up. He knew she had her phone on her. She must've heard by now he wasn't deploying. First his team turns their back on him. Now the one person he thought would be there left him out in the cold as well. He knew she had changed but didn't realize that she wouldn't even be there for him in case of emergency. Obviously she was now a full on cake eater who didn't care about anyone else.
The next morning…
"Yo" Sonny says seeing Davis in the doorway.
"You make it home ok or stumble in from the strip club this morning?" Lisa ask standing in the doorway.
"Well I'm glad you're more concerned with my time at the jiggle joint than you are coming to the barb-b-que to say goodbye" he replied as he continued packing his bag. "Nice of you to bring it up by the way. Guess it's a good thing I wasn't dying or something" he thought to himself.
"Goodbye?" she said with a smile "we're flying to J-Bad tomorrow together" she replied in her mind wondering why he was being petty.
"Not me, Lindell is shipping me off to Texas to go to armory school" he explains as he begins folding his Texas flag.
"What?" she says confused "You're not deploying?" she asks as she crosses her arms trying to figure out the situation.
"Nope. Got six weeks of hard time for defending the trident. I'm not gonna make that mistake again I'll tell you that." He replies concentrating on folding the flag.
"Oh Sonny, this sucks" she says walking over beside him. "I am so sorry. Look I know being away from Bravo is already your worst nightmare but maybe don't… throw any more gas on the fire" she says leaning against the table.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" he asked annoyed
Lisa looks at him trying to determine where his head is. She can tell he's angry and her not showing up to the bbq didn't help out at all. She figures that he doesn't remember he was so bad off last night that they called his emergency contact.
"It means getting so wasted at the strip club they call your emergency contact may not have been your smartest choice" she replies as he moves past her. "Look, just trust me, the last thing you want is to face a DRV" she says turning around to face him again. He starts zipping up his bag, "I tell you what, the last thing I want is to have one more person tell me that I'm wrong, ok?" he pushes his cage door shut "because I've got enough of that from my team already." He swings his bag on to his shoulder and starts to walk out. "Enjoy your time in JBad Davis, I'll see you around" he says as he exits. Lisa just stands there feeling like a jerk but not sure how else she is supposed to handle the situation. They made their choices. Being together wasn't allowed. Bravo meant to much to him to quit and she had worked too hard for her career.
Lisa heads to the range to clear her head and Mandy joined her. "We could've gone to a bar, but your idea is way better" Mandy laughs. "Well the bar isn't really my scene these days" Lisa replies. "It's a healthier way to clear my head' she explains. Mandy expresses her concern getting ready for deployment after blowing up her career on the last one.
"Ray actually gave me some good advice, rounds down range stay down range. Don't let what your last shot impact the next one. No matter what your role you're an asset to the team" Lisa explains. "Thanks" Mandy smiles. "Speaking of rounds down range… Sonny?" Mandy asked
"What about him?" Lisa replies wondering if Mandy knows. It's been months why bring it up now she wonders but doesn't let on.
"That club is his haunt and you didn't take the call" Mandy replies as she checks her gun.
"The truth is, I need all my focus on my work and Afghanistan and Sonny's baggage is a distraction." Lisa replies getting ready to shoot her next round. She needed to distance herself as far as possible from Sonny while he's under the microscope. This was the chance to show that she was a serious officer. If she were going to grow in this career there were somethings like hanging out at the bar that she had to let go of.
"Well you're going to do great out there" Mandy assures her before leaving. Lisa empties another round and then feels her phone buzz in her pocket. She takes pulls it out to see a text from Sonny- "FYI got you removed everywhere as my emergency contact. Sorry for the inconvenience. Won't happen again."
She stared at the text. She wanted to reply that he didn't have to do that and he isn't an inconvenience. "You know what?" she thought out loud before sticking the phone back into her pocket "I just can't right now."
