Onyx city. A place with the mask of ingenuity and progression to hide the insecurity of control and fear. The leaders held a tight grip on its people in a cold, metallic hand. No one knows what happens to those who defy. No one wants to know. Despite being built on curiosity and science one would be damned if they asked any questions. Yet again, only those who have asked know the consequences.
The night was cold and could send a shockwave of it's harsh touch down the spine of anyone unprepared. The darkness felt like the weight of the world upon his shoulders, crashing down with the colour and sorrow of a screen shut down by it's creator; the only light to keep him from collapsing were the neon signs that illuminated off stores and buildings, creating a multicolour shine on his visor. The off white hedgehog was silent. At this time of night, citizens of Onyx were forces to stay indoors. The curfew was appointed in the passing of article 56 in an attempt to drop crime rates by making everyone out at night a criminal. One had to have a government approved pass in order to bypass the curfew. A pass they would have to show many times to one of the many protection robots before carrying on their business. And one would be fooled to forge a false pass.
The only sounds were that of the hedgehog's gentle footsteps and protection robots patrolling the streets. It wasn't hard for him to avoid the robots- all he had to do was listen for their heavy metal footsteps and duck behind a corner as they approached. They were much easier to evade than aphiths.
After a bit of travel, the stranger made it to his destination, he took a heavy sigh and sat upon the edge of a cliff on the outskirts of the city. An almost abandoned sight that, possibly, only he knew about. He took off his triangular visor and placed it on the ground beside him, not needing the fashion piece to get in the way of the scene and colour the world magenta.
He relaxed in the rising sun and watched as it slowly woke. Maybe today would be better.
