Wow, new story! This is a one shot I had an idea of writing at TWO O'CLOCK TODAY! It's probably super-shitty (since I wrote it in 4 fucking hours) but I'm gonna post it anyway! It's also really short do sorry about that. I doubt you will enjoy but sure, read it! And yes, it's loosely related to April Fool's! ;-)

Adrien had been sheltered most of his life - he was homeschooled, the only parties he was allowed to go to were his father's fashion brand ones, he was never allowed anywhere without a bodyguard, the list went on and on. So in the first year he was allowed to go to public school, he had no idea what April Fool's was. Nino had done a classic, placing a whoopee cushion on his chair, and Alya had dipped brussel sprouts in chocolate and gifted them to him. The pranks only got worse and after having hundreds of orange peels fall out of his locker, he had asked the two incredulously, "Is there a reason you two are pranking me so intensely today?"

Nino stared at him and fired back, "Dude, do you not know what today is?"

Adrien, confused, replied, "April 1st?"

Alya continued, "And what is April 1st?"

"Wednesday?"

Slapping her head in exasperation, Alya groaned, "It's April Fool's, you complete fetus!"

Adrien, still confused, murmured to himself, "Well, she's not wrong…"

Marinette had been watching the exchange and, trying not to combust at the sight of her crush, butted in, "Uh, April Tool's- I MEAN, April Fool's is a day where people smack each other I MEAN prank each other!"

Adrien's confusion turned into realisation. "Ohhhh! I didn't know!" Alya groaned again and walked off, Nino trailing behind her. Turning to Marinette, Adrien admitted, "I'm kinda new to all these 'holidays'. We never did much for any holiday when I was homeschooled."

Looking at his dejected face, Marinette felt a wave of pity wash over her for this poor boy. She vowed to herself to make this and every other holiday as special for him as she could. During lunchtime, they ran to a joke shop and, thanks to Adrien stash of 'emergency' money, they bought a truckload of pranking supplies. Rubber snakes, joke telescopes, squirting flowers, fake insects - you name it, they bought it. For the rest of the day, Marinette and Adrien wreaked havoc on the school. No one expected the oblivious Marinette or the innocent Adrien to be the master pranksters of the day but by the end of the day, the entire student body was convinced that both had some kind of secret power. They weren't far off, though, because both teens had secretly used their kwami to get to get to places they usually couldn't. It was a miracle that Marinette was able to allow herself to actually have fun and not focus on the fact that Adrien has spent nearly the whole day with her.

As they were walking out of the school, Adrien, for the second time in Marinette's presence, laughed out loud. It was a loud, happy sound and Marinette wanted to do everything she could to hear it again. He rested his hand on her shoulder and grinned, "Thanks for helping me today, Marinette. I didn't realise how fun April Fool's could be!"

Blushing at the contact, Marinette stammered, "Uh, t-thanks. It's been fun being in you too!" Adrien's eyes widened at her words and he blushed intensely. Realising her mistake, Marinette's face also turned red and she backtracked, "Waitwaitwait, I mean it was fun to do things with you! Not in you! I'll never go in you!"

As more word vomit poured out of her mouth, Adrien rubbed the back of his neck nervously and interrupted, "I-it's fine, I understand what you mean." Marinette snapped her mouth shut and allowed him to continue. "It was really nice to spend my first April Fool's 'celebration' with a friend." Marinette smiled and nodded. "Bye!" he waved as he walked to the car.

Feeling a movement in her purse, Marinette opened it to see Tikki staring up sympathetically at her. "Don't worry, Marinette! I'm sure that soon enough, Adrien will finally see you as more than a friend!"

Smiling serenely, she replied, "Until then, the best thing I can do is be a friend."

*magical time skip to 3 years later *

Every year since then, Adrien had pranked everyone that came his way, except, of course, his father and Nathalie. It felt exhilarating to have one day to prank teachers and students without the worry of his father getting an email from school. It was like getting to be Chat Noir for a day.

In his last year of school, he decided to go out with a bang. He had already given Plagg plastic cheese from America, which had ended as well as one would've expected. After convincing the furious kwami not to reduce the city of Paris to dust, Adrien set the GPS system in the car to speak Spanish, which had infuriated Gorilla to no end. He made sure to get into school before everyone else did, planting all his pranks with the help of Plagg, who he had bribed with unlimited Camembert for the rest of the month. When he was done he thought to himself contentedly, "Let's see the school try to avoid this."

To put it lightly, Adrien was extremely lucky he wasn't expelled. Most teachers had taken his pranks lightly but a few had threatened to suspend him. By the end of the, the students were either congratulating him on being the ultimate prankster or stomping home furiously with slime drenching them from head to toe. Alya was one of those and she shot him a murderous glare before pulling a completely clean Nino along with her. The DJ looked back mischievously and grinned at the blonde before waving and following his girlfriend.

"You really outdid yourself this year, Agreste!" A soft voice piped up and he turned to see a slime-covered Marinette standing behind him. "I almost regret pranking everyone that first April Fool's day!" she joked. A radiant smile made its way onto her face and Adrien felt his breath catch. Even though she was drenched in slime, she still looked beautiful to him.

As the years went on, he began to notice little things about Marinette that made his day a bit brighter. The way she nibbled on her lower lip when focused or nervous, the way she always attempted to make him laugh when his father had yet again blown him off. She had really grown from the stuttering nervous girl he and first met and he liked her a lot more than he was willing to admit. It didn't help that she had gotten increasingly prettier as time went on. Not that she wasn't pretty before, but now, she had started leaving her hair down more often, which certainly did something not entirely unpleasant to him.

"I guess I owe it to you, Mari," he chuckled. The nickname had made it into his everyday speech and she had wordlessly accepted it a while ago.

"Umm, yeah," she nervously giggled and nibbled on her lower lip. Adrien gaze dropped to the movement and he felt his face heat up. "I, uh, wanted to tell you something." She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and blurted out, "I like you, Adrien Agreste! Like, like, like you. You're kind to everyone, you're funny and you always do your best to make people feel happy, even when you're not feeling so good yourself. And you're really, really hot!" Her face had been growing redder as she continued her talking but when Adrien didn't reply, she pried her eyes open to see him staring at her with his mouth wide open. "Hahaha, April Fool's!" she forced out a laugh. "It was just a joke! Looks like you're not the only prank-master! I'm going home now, ok? See you tomorrow!" Her voice broke on the last word and Adrien caught sight of a small tear rolling down her bluebell eyes. She brushed past him and began walking back to the bakery.

A minute passed before his mind caught up with his body. "Marinette likes me." He ran to the car and told the Gorilla he was going to the library to do some homework. He didn't seem to believe the teen but brushed it off, driving off back to the mansion. Adrien spun around and ran to the bakery, his emotions going haywire. "Marinette likes me!" Ladybug didn't even cross his mind and he burst through the bakery door and heard the familiar ring of the bell. "Hello Mrs Cheng!"

Looking up to see where the voice came from Sabine exclaimed, "Oh, Adrien! It's lovely to see you! I assume you're not here for croissants?"

Adrien's eyes strayed to the pile of buttery goodness and his mouth began to water. Remembering the reason he came in the first place, he shook is head and answered, "No, I came to speak to Marinette."

"Mmm, she was quite upset when she got here but I'm sure she'll be happy to see you," Sabine said. She called her daughter down and offered, "While you're waiting, you can have some croissants, Adrien."

Resisting the urge, Adrien shook his head again and waited patiently for Marinette to arrive downstairs. When she burst through the bakery door, she was free or slime but Adrien could see her puffy eyes that showed just how much she had been crying. Her long hair was in plaits and a look of surprise was painted on her face. "A-Adrien, what are you doing here?"

Adrien cautiously stepped closer and answered, "I wanted to tell you, I'm sorry for not answering you. And I wanted you to know," his emerald eyes locked into her sapphire ones. "It wasn't just a joke for me." Neither took notice of Sabine leaving the room to give the teens some privacy.

Marinette tried to reply, "No, d-don't worry, it was dumb, I was dumb-"

Adrien's hand cupped her cheek and he brought her face closer, his gaze flickering between her pink lips and her eyes. "C-can I kiss you?" Their faces were so close that he felt Marinette's bangs brush against his forehead. He slowly moved closer up until their lips were slightly brushing against each other, testing the waters. Surprisingly, Marinette was the one to capture his lips. Both their eyes fluttered shut and Adrien's other hand held her other cheek. Marinette's lips parted and Adrien deepened the kiss. No thoughts were passing through his head, he was completely focused on how right it felt to be here with this girl. When they eventually broke apart, Adrien rested his forehead on Marinette's. "How long have you wanted to do that for?" he murmured against her lips.

"Heh, why does it matter," she asked breathlessly.

"Because I'm going to make sure I spend that much time begging you to ignore my stupidity."

Marinette giggled quietly and pressed her lips onto his again. When they broke apart again, she replied, "All of it was worth it for the chance to be with you now."

"Hey, I'm meant to be sweet-talking here," Adrien protested childishly.

Booping his nose with hers, Marinette fired back, "Mmm, I don't care."

Adrien chuckled and kissed her again. "I can't wait to spoil you like the princess you are."
