Author's Notes This is a fanfic of the Japanese anime Girly Air Force. The main Character I will be introducing is from the video game Ace Combat 7. The character Trigger also know as three stripes. I recommend both the anime and the game, both I found very fun. I also know that I am In the middle of the RWBY fanfic. I find myself at times in a writers block so by swapping in between stories I can kinda take a break from both not becoming over worked by just pumping out for one story. I will not betray the games presentation of Trigger and change is personality wildly as I've seen in a couple of other fanfics. I will also keep Trigger as a HIM/HE as it is cannon to the game. Of course, he will have to talk to make this story work so he will not be a mute. Also as Trigger is not from the Earth as we know it I will be making his nationality American. Most of his backstory in the game will be somewhat converted and altered to be as reasonable as possible. Do if you can watch videos on the Ace Combat 7 game. Because I find that it will subtract from the progress of this story if I have to write a whole chapter explaining Trigger and how he got his fame on the battlefield and how he is a respected fighter pilot The anime's universe will also be slightly altered to allow Triggers presence in the story. Anyways enough of this long ass authors note. _
Although the casualties were high in the US they somehow managed to persevere against the Zai. Trigger's squad was mostly to thank for that with the Ace pilot being highly credited for the success of many missions.
After negotiations were made and deals were struck with other countries it was deemed Trigger could be transferred to a new front in the war. As Trigger was being moved, he was told that he was going to Japan.
When he arrived to the island country the war wasn't as bad as he thought. They weren't being bombed yet and it seemed they so far had a stable grasp on the situation.
Trigger was assigned to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Komatsu Base. He was told to go there and meet someone at the main gate of the base. Trigger was picked up at the airport by a black car with heavily tinted windows. He was only greeted by a man who only helped him pack his bags in the trunk and drove him to the base.
When they arrived Trigger got out of the car and unloaded his belongings. He only had two duffle bags with him so when he got up to the gate the guard stared at him with a funny look and spoke to him in Japanese. Trigger was lucky and he was already adept in the language having been stationed in Japan a couple of times in his past
"Umm what can I do you for sir?" the gate guard asked
Trigger looked silently until he spoke in Japanese
"Im here from the USAF"
The guard then nodded and walked into his booth and talked into a phone for a while. After that he came back out
"A car will be coming shortly to collect you and your things "
Trigger nodded and waited. After about ten or so minutes a white work car could be seen driving up to the gate. A rather fat man got out wearing a white labs coat and greeted Trigger
"Hello and welcome to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Komatsu Base. I am Yashiodoori Haruka also known as the Director. I will take you to a room to drop off your things. I will explain the situation on the way"
While on the way to the barracks where Trigger would be staying, the Director explained some rather very surprising and interesting things to him. Like the fact they were able to create a human like AI to pilot planes to combat the Zai way more effectively than the humans were.
Trigger almost found the whole thing unbelievable but then again with the whole world being under attack by a aggressive alien not from this world he was very open to a lot of things now. He would just have to wait until he could meet one of these AI's.
They got to a group of barracks and the man escorted Trigger to his room. It was nothing special compared to the ones back in the US but it was a lot bigger than he expected. He quickly dropped his things onto the ground when the Director ushered him back to the car.
"Come and meet the people you will be working with. They are already waiting for us at my office "
As he said he lit up a cigarette and drove across the base. He parked outside a large building and walked inside still smoking. They walked thought a hallway until they got to a door which was his office.
When he opened it he was met with four people.
The only normal one was an average looking boy with black hair but the other three looked out of place.
The first that stood out was a small girl with pink hair that stood near the boy, the next was another slightly taller girl with green hair in a dress with white shirt and purple skirt. The third and finale person was a blond girl with long hair and rather revealing clothing.
As the all stared at Trigger like he was the anomaly the director cleared his throat and sat down in a chair.
"Everyone I have two new people to introduce you two today the first here is a US pilot. His name was classified but I was told he mainly goes by his callsign Trigger or the nickname Three Strikes. He is a highly skilled pilot and we look forward to observing him and to see if we can't implement his skills into future AI."
The first to greet Trigger was the blond girl. She spoke with a rather over confidant tone
"Hi! I'm F15J-ANM-Eagle or Eagle for short and I look forward to seeing you fly!"
Trigger then looked at the boy and the pink haired girl as he introduced them
"Hello I am Kei Narutani. I fly with Griphen here" as he gestured toward her she gave a slight bow
"Greetings"
With that the last remaining person was the green haired girl but the Director spoke up first
"So this is sudden, but I have another announcement to make. This base will now function as a independent unit. The new name for It will be Independent Mixed Test Unit, or IMTU for short "
The green hair girl then spoke up
"In other words, from now on we are a team. The Daughter will be brought together in one place to increase Japan's ability to deal with the Zai. Its more efficient from a maintenance and management perspective to have us all in once place "
" But what brought this on? " Kei asked
" The attack on Komatsu " she replied
" it seems to have woken up the higher-ups. A plan that had been shelved for a while was finally approved. "
"Who are you?" Eagle finally asked in a very pouty manner
" I was just listening to daddy! "
"She calls the director daddy? Well he did make her I guess." Trigger thought to himself
"I'm sorry " the green haired girl said
"I am RF-4EJ-ANM Phantom-"
"An F-4? " Eagle spoke cutting her off
"I didn't know any of those were still flying. I thought they were all scrapped by now. " She said with a smile
It seemed as if she was trying to insult the girl in some manner
"You've got a big mouth for a child whose airframe is only twenty or so years old " Phantom smugly
Griphen started to speak up but Kei but his had over her mouth cutting her off
"Shh! Don't make it any worse!"
Phantom continued
"Was your embarrassing failure during the defense of Komatsu because you couldn't properly assess your enemy's capabilities?"
"Are you saying your stronger than me?!" Eagle retorted
"Who knows? But I do think that if id been up there, I could've limited the damage our allies suffered.
"This is like the penal unit all over again" Trigger thought
"Then lets fight and see who's stronger! All show you what I can do!" Eagle declared with a fiery aura
"Hey, I don't think…" Kei began but the Director cut him off
"Very well" He said
Kei was surprised probably not thinking he would go along with this. The others must of thought also because the also all gave him a questioning look.
"Lets do some combat training to test out the Phantom. Griphen you go up there too. Trigger as well your plane arrived here before you did and it has already been fitted for combat. I'll evaluate all three of you. We start in a hour so go and get ready"
Kei started to speak up and protest but was cut off by Eagle
"I'll smash you all up!" she declared
"I'm looking forward to it" Phantom replied
They all then headed out the office but the Director took Trigger and lead him to a hanger with his plane in it. When they got there Trigger was happy to finally see his plane again
It was is F22A Raptor that he used throughout his entire time fighting the Zai. It was stealth fighter therefore all of its weapons were concealed inside of the body of the aircraft until ready to be used. The jet could hold six missiles under the main body of the aircraft with four in pods on each wing. If needed in emergency thought more armaments could be added to the wings on the outside but would forgo the stealth like nature of the aircraft.
The beast could reach up to a thousand and five hundred miles per hour and make any G turns Trigger makes it. He has yet to find the actual G limit of his aircraft but quickly found out in the war with the Zai that the noted nine G limit was very far off from true.
Trigger almost smiled after seeing his baby after a long time apart.
"Now" the Director began as he lit himself another cigarette "We have already done maintenance on the aircraft and as you can see is loaded for this training situation. You can go ahead and suit up and taxi to the runway. You will receive further guidance from there"
Trigger nodded and headed to a nearby locker on the wall that he found his name on. His flight suit was already hanging their meaning someone had to of gone through his bags to get it here. It didn't bother him much when he put the suit on.
He grabbed his flight helmet and headed to his plane and boarded. He ran through his pre flight checks as he punched in the frequency for the radio. All of this was second nature to Trigger and by the time he heard the chatter on the radio he was already halfway done with the taxi.
As soon as he got to the runway thought he looked to his right seeing the rest of the planes coming out of the hangers. It wasn't too hard to notice who was who with all of the planes corresponding to the girls name and hair color.
As soon as they saw him on the runway he could all hear them commenting on his plane over open comms.
"That an F22A right?" He could hear Kei asking first
"Of course it is! Look at how cool it looks!" Eagle practically screamed over the mic
"Maybe this will be somewhat of a challenge then" Phantom commented
As they all lined up Trigger was the first to cleared to take off. In his typical fashion Trigger activated his afterburners and when he cleared the runway he started a ninety degree climb to quickly gaining altitude. In seconds he was already at the set training altitude and leveled off and waited for the others to join him.
After a short minute everyone was in the air and got into their respected positions. They were cleared to start the fight and Phantom was the first to talk
"Feel free to come at me three on one if you want. I can get back to my maintenance quicker if you do" She taunted
Eagle was whining over the radio
"You really do make me mad you old hag! Fine I'll shoot you down first!" She screamed
"So I guess they go by age after their aircraft was originally made I guess?" Trigger thought
After that Trigger could quickly see Eagle turning to engaged Phantom at full speed with Griphen's plane quickly joining her. Trigger saw a opportunity soon to arise so he quickly climbed and pulled back speed to make sure everyone would be far infront of him.
Phantom was going out of her way to taunt everyone and Trigger didn't know why at first but it make him wary. He stayed back away from the dogfight as Eagle was hot on Phantoms tail. Eagle launched a missile at Phantom which she pulled a couple of high G turns to try and dodge.
The missile was still hot on her tail an closing in so in the end right before the missile struck Phantom deployed her flares and caused the missile to detonate before hitting her plane. But to Triggers surprise as Eagle was closing in on Phantom in machine gun range Phantom disappeared from the radar.
Right after Eagle was taken out. Phantom than showed back up on radar right behind Griphen's plane. Trigger saw his moment and speed up to catch the two and see if he could take them both out in one strike.
Phantom launched a missile at Griphen causing her and Kei to dodge. The dived down to the sea with the missile still on their tail and not breaking off. They then pulled a high G turn into a ninety degree turn still failing to lose the missile. In the end they had to deploy flares to throw the missile off and cause it to detonate in the middle of them.
Phantom then again went off radar somehow. As Trigger approached, he scanned the sky not being able to trust his radar anymore. He would have to rely on visuals only. Just as Trigger cleared a cloud and got visual on both planes Griphen's plane was knocked out and out of the training.
Phantom was right behind Griphen so Trigger quickly dived and opened up with a quick burst of his machine gun. Phantom must have seen him closing in on the radar because just as he opened fire she made a hard turn left dodging it.
Trigger hit his air break quickly as to not over shoot and pass Phantom and stayed hot on her tail. He got a lock on her and fire two missiles. Phantom started evasive maneuvers with her throttle at full blast pulling serval high G turns.
It was clear she wasn't going to lose the missiles so she quickly launches flares and then headed for some clouds. Trigger was right behind her letting lose some small burst of machine gun fire trying to score a hit. But as soon as they reached the clouds he lost visual contact and Phantom when dark on the radar yet again.
Trigger knew something was up so he did half of a barrel roll and pulled back hard on his stick. He quickly dove towards the sea until he leveled out right above the sea floor rolling back over at the same time.
Triggers eyes would quickly dart to his radar while he scanned the skies and over his shoulder. He hit his right pedal causing him to turn right some and just then as he looked over his shoulder again he saw a glare.
He quickly jerked back on his stick and as hit did the water below shot up as the training rounds from Phantoms machine gun hit where he was not even half a second ago. Trigger then leveled and did another sharp turn to the right to keep Phantom from staying behind him and getting another beat on him.
"Huh, could you please give it up already. I can see your trying hard but I would like to end this and just get back to my hangar. You cant possible think you, just a simple human could beat a Anima right?"
Phantom was taunting Trigger the entire time he was pulled very high G turns. Trigger then finally activated his after burners. He knew that he could out run the girls jet at get him the space he needed to get behind her.
When Phantom noticed that Trigger started to quickly get away from her she launched a missile at him. Trigger was almost at full speed when the missile caught up to him he made several turns to throw it off but to no avail. He had to launch flares to throw the missile off losing it.
Now with the distance he need Trigger made a hard and quick one eighty degree turn and quickly got a lock on Phantom. As soon as he did he didn't hesitate and fired two missiles at her. She had to turn and with that gave Trigger the opportunity he needed to get back behind her.
Just as she launched flares Trigger fired two more rockets and looked at his display. He had eight left and more than enough machine gun ammo. Phantom was still on the defense and Trigger was now on the all out attack.
He knew if he let her get on his tail again she might not toy with him again and try to take him out. Phantom managed to dodge his second volley of missile but just as she was done he fired another two more.
"I might be enjoying this Mr Trigger. You seem to have me on the run, but for how long I wonder?"
Just as Phantom got done taunting Trigger she launched more flares to get the missiles off of her. She then turned toward the sun causing Trigger to lose her.
He turned to the left and climbed keeping the sun out of his eye while scanning the sky to find Phantom. He look a quick look at his radar to see she had made herself disappear again.
"I guess its going to have to be a fist fight" Trigger thought.
Right after two missiles were launched at Trigger putting him on the defense yet again. Trigger knew that the only way to end this was with his machine gun seeing as even if Phantom ran out of flares there's no telling she couldn't jam his missiles too just like his radar.
While Trigger was turning and dodging to get the missile off of him he could see that Phantom was lining up a shot behind him. Looks like she wanted to end this just as bad as he did.
As soon as he saw her Trigger jerked his flight stick into is stomach making him do a hard turn. At the same time he killed his engine causing the turn to be even tighter. With this reckless roll Trigger had to of just pulled more than eleven G's but and experienced pilot like him and with months of fighting the Zai he was already use to it.
The missiles kept flying forward having lost Trigger in the quick turn and Phantom kept flying forward too. She obviously didn't expect a move like that to come from human thinking that they should black out under that stress.
While basically doing a midair backflip Trigger was now right behind Phantom and before she could even react Trigger let loose with his main gun and quickly knocked her out.
The whole situation happened in under a second and took everyone including Phantom.
"Simulation over. Return to base." The Director said over the radio
The words brought both of the pilots back to reality. As Trigger caught up to Phantom and flew next to her he could almost sense her staring at him. Trigger looked over at her plane to see she had no missiles left. It seemed if Trigger would have been even half a second later to do what he did she was about to open up on him with her machine gun.
Trigger looked back forward and went full throttle leaving Phantom behind.
When everyone was back on the airfield and laned Eagle quickly rushed over to Phantom and started complaining. Phantom quickly cut her off thought
"Don't tell me that was your best shot, was it?" She taunted "All that talk, and you lost so easily to an old fighter like me? There must be some reason right? Some reason you couldn't get to your full strength and shoot me down?"
Eagle was visibly shaking with frustration
"Shut up! Just shut up you jerk!" and with tears in her eyes Eagle ran off still screaming and then crying.
Kei got on to her
"You didn't need to be that hard on her like that right?"
She slightly scoffs
"The worst people in the world are the weak who think they are strong. There's nothing more annoying than someone who's so convinced of that fact that they stop thinking and go out of control" She was saying the whole thing with a smug look on her face and shaking her head
"Are you talking about Eagle?" Kei asked
"Who knows?"
Griphen then spoke up
"Why did you cheat?"
"Cheat?" Kei asked surprised
"I think its wrong to cheat in what should be a fair fight" Griphen continued as she approached Phantom
"What are you talking about" Phantom asked
"Hey, Griphen" Kei started
"You inserted incorrect information into the data link. She cracked into the channel that Anima use to share information about their positions and sensor data, then fed us false information" Griphen continued
"Huh, I guess that explains everything. Then maybe I could of used the rest of my missiles then" Trigger thought
"Then the reason she kept disappearing and reappearing in that last fight…"
"Those were fake Phantom's"
"Then that is cheating" Kei yelled
Phantom shook her head still with a smug smile and a scoff
"What of it? In a real fight, you do whatever it takes to win right?"
"In a real right, allies don't share false information with each other!" Kei spoke up
He then held up his helmet at her
"Who is really worse to have as an ally, I wonder?"
Trigger than spoke up alerting everyone to him
"Neat trick Phantom, but does it work in a real fight?"
She started at him for a moment "Yes I could have real jammers that display false information to the enemy"
"Huh…. But it didn't work thought did it?"
Phantom scoffed at Trigger now
"You nearly burnt out your jets to keep up with me in the turns. That and you have blind luck to thank"
Trigger shook his head
"No…. just skill. I don't trust my life to cheap tricks that might not always work Phantom."
She only looks at him and turns to the other two with a smug grin
"I'll be going. I'm keeping the mechanics waiting." She says as she walks away.
They all three watch her leave then Kei turns to Trigger
"How did you manage to take her down?"
He looked at Kei then at Griphen.
"I pushed my plane to its absolute limit and myself. I nearly blacked out on my last maneuver and if it wouldn't have worked, I for sure would have lost."
Kei and Griphen looked at him and thought upon his works
"But how did you see through her trick?" Griphen asked
"I almost didn't. It was pure luck I saw her behind me the last two times. That and my instinct"
"I see" She said
Trigger only nodded and then walked off. He was starving and needed a shower. He would go see the Director after he took care of his needs
"They all have their quirks but, with pilots like these girls maybe we can put an end to this threat"Trigger walked off to the hanger with his thoughts wondering in his head.
