The morning sun was shining through the gaps of the curtains in their room. Jay was laying on his back with Hailey's head resting on his chest and his left hand resting where their unborn child lay between them. Jay began to wake he pulled her closer to him relishing the feeling her body close to his. He opened his eyes and looked down at the beautiful girl resting on top of him he began to rub light circles on her belly just to feel the connection to their baby. His mind wandered back to the day she told him she was pregnant.

They were in the middle of working a tough case Jay had been eyeing Hailey closely she had not been feeling well lately and had been slightly anxious. He wondered what could be wrong with his wife and why she wouldn't talk to him about whatever it was. They made a promise to always talk to each other not matter what. Hailey had gotten up to get a cup of tea so Jay decided to follow her and try to see if he could get her to talk to him about what was bothering her.

"Hey babe" he said with hint of worry in his voice as he came into the room.

"Hey" she said unable to meet his eyes.

"Hailey" he said warningly. When she looked up at him "Is everything ok? I am worried about you".

"I am ok Jay. I just don't feel well, and this case is wearing on me" she said forcing a small smile.

Closing the gap between them he placed his hands on her arms to comfort her "Why don't you go talk to Hank and see if he will let you go home and rest. He knows this case is getting to all of us and he will understand if you need some time to decompress"

"You're right maybe I should. I would never forgive myself if something happened because I wasn't focused."

He looked into her eyes and smiled lightly wrapping her in a comforting hug. After a few moments they walked out. Jay went back to try and finish what he had been doing and Hailey went to talk to Hank. After talking to Hank, he said it was ok for her to head out for the afternoon. Once she had reached her Jeep, she suddenly had a feeling of what might be wrong. She pulled out her cell and scrolling through her contacts to find the right one. She tapped on the contact and waited for the person to pick up.

"Hi Hailey"

"Hi, Natalie" she replied shakily

"Hailey, what's the matter?" Natalie askes hearing the nervousness in her voice.

"I am not sure. I need to see you. Do you have anytime right now?"

"Sure, come down anytime"

"Ok, thanks Nat I will be there in 15min." she replied hanging up. Taking a deep breath, she pulled out of the lot and headed towards the hospital.

When she arrived at Med, she made her way inside and asked the nurse at the desk to page Dr Manning and to tell her Hailey Halstead was here. She took a seat in the waiting room and waited for Nat to come out. As she came walking out Natalie spotted Hailey who seemed to be lost in her own thoughts.

"Hailey" she called as she placed a hand on her shoulder.

Hailey's head snapped up at the sudden touch.

"Hey" she replied nervously.

"Do you want to talk here or in a room?" Nat asked

"Could we go into a room?" Hailey asked quietly

"Sure" Nat smiled warmly worried about her sister in law.

Natalie guided Hailey inside and they made their way to an open room. Natalie lead Hailey to the bed and closed the door and curtain. Hailey took a seat on the bed Natalie stood across from her worried.

"Hailey, do you want to tell me why you're here?" Nat asked worried

The tears in her eyes threatened to fall at any second, she took a deep breath "I…I... I think I am pregnant, but I am not sure" she finally blurted out. The tears finally gave way and she started to sob. Natalie crossed the room and enveloped her in a hug. "It's ok Hailey. Let me run a blood and urine test then we can go from there". Hailey just nodded in response.

Natalie let Hailey know she was going to get some supplies and that she would be right back. Hailey sat there her mind reeling about what this would mean for her and Jay. This was something they had talked about and she didn't know why she was so scared to talk to him about it. A few minutes later Natalie returned with the supplies. She proceeded to set everything up as Hailey lay on the bed watching her.

"Alright, Hailey I am going to draw some blood and then you can take this cup to the bathroom and bring it back when you're done" she explained. Hailey just smiled lightly at her. After Natalie had everything, she needed she looked to Hailey "I will get these to the lab ASAP, and we should know in about an hour. Just try to relax and I will be back as soon as the results come in". Hailey too nervous to speak just nodded her head.

Hailey lay on the bed trying to imagine what Jay's reaction would be if her suspicions were true. Would he be excited and happy or upset that she had ruined their lives so early in their marriage? She knew Jay was so loving and that he always let her know he loved her and would always be there for her not matter what. Hailey was drawn from her thoughts as Natalie re-entered the room. She gave Hailey a soft smile and pulled the stool up next to the young woman.

"Alright, Hailey I have the results Congratulations you are pregnant. Around 12 weeks". Hailey just sat there in shock not sure what to feel at that moment. Natalie noticed she didn't seem relieved.

"Hailey, what's bothering you about having a baby?"

Hailey just looked down at her hands playing with her ring "I don't know. I love Jay so much and he has always been there for me no matter what. We always have each other's back. I just hope that he will still love me and that he will be happy about the baby."

"Hailey, Jay definitely loves you. Anyone who knows the two of you can see it. When you two are together you always make the other smile. Just talk to him and I am sure he will be happy."

Hailey sat for a moment as Natalie's words sunk in. She's right she thought Jay loves me and he is always so good with children. She turned to Natalie and smiled her bright happy smile.

"Thank you, Nat, I just didn't know who to turn to" she said as she hugged Natalie.

"You're welcome. I am so happy for you and Jay. We have one more test before you go."

"Ok?" Hailey questions

"An ultrasound" Natalie smiled.

After the ultrasound had been done Hailey thanked and hugged Natalie again. She walked out to her Jeep smiling from ear to ear she thought her face was going to break. Before heading back their house she made her way to a little baby store near their house. She wanted to get something special to tell Jay. She walked around and spotted a little frame that said, "Hi Daddy, I Love you". She couldn't help but smile as she picked up the frame and made her way to the check out. She arrived home and stashed her purchase in the back of her closet. Exhausted from everything she had just done in the last couple of hours she decided she rest on the couch for a while until Jay came home.

A few hours later Jay arrived home worried about his wife. He paused as he came into the living room seeing his wife asleep on the sofa. He leaned in a placed a soft kiss on her head and grabbed the blanket from the back of the couch laying it over her. Deciding to let her sleep a while longer he made his way to their room to shower and change before dinner. Hailey woke up and noticed the blanket on her she figured Jay must be home. Walking upstairs she could hear the water. She quickly grabbed the bag she had stashed in her closet earlier and walked back downstairs. She placed the little bag next to her side of the couch. Tonight, was usually a takeout night for them so she walked into the kitchen and picked out the Chinese menu. She made a few selections and placed an order. When she was done, she wrapped herself back in the blanket, flipped on the TV and relaxed waiting for Jay to come down and join her.

10 minutes later Jay came padding down the stairs and walked into the living room. Walking over to the couch he took his usual spot next to Hailey and pulled her close breathing in the scent of her shampoo. He leaned in and planted a tender kiss on her lips.

"Hey sweetheart, how are you feeling?".

"Better now. I think taking some time to rest helped" she smiled up at him. "I ordered dinner while you were in the shower".

"Sounds good" he replied and kissed her head and held her close.

Their food arrived shortly after Jay had come downstairs. They ate in comfortable silence relishing in the feeling of being close to one another. When they were done, Jay took their dishes to the kitchen to clean up. It's now or never Hailey thought to herself, so she picked up the little bag and placed it on the coffee table where Jay was sure to see it.

Coming back, he paused noticing the bag on the table. "Hailey? What is the gift for? Did I miss something? Is everything alright?" he asked curiously.

"No, you didn't miss anything, and I am fine" she giggled "Just open it".

Eyeing her curiously Jay picked up the bag and removed the tissue, he reached in the bag and pulled out the frame. He turned it over carefully reading what was on the edge of the frame then looking at the little photo inside. He sat speechless.

Hailey sat nervously looking at him wondering what was going through his mind. "Jay? Babe can say something?". With tears in his eyes he turned to Hailey and couldn't help but smile.

"Is this what I think it is? Are we really having a baby?" he asked looking to his wife with tears in his eyes.

"Yes, we are" Hailey replied with tears in her eyes.

"Hailey, I am so happy. I love you so much" he said as her kissed her. Jay reached pulled her into a hug. They let their tears flow and for the first time that day Hailey finally felt relaxed. They spent the rest of the evening holding one another neither wanting the other to let go.
