-Prologue-
Eleven Years Ago...
Once upon a time, a man and a woman, both members of two completely different lines of lineage, fell in love. The woman, Ayano, was from a family of royalty, having been spoiled, pampered, and served for her whole life. The man, Junpei, was from a humble home, where his opinionated father worked as a businessman and his mother was a simple housewife. They decided to run.
Together, the renegade couple created a new life with no restriction from their families. They got married, taking Ayano's last name of Adachi to remind society and themselves of their rebellion.
Soon after their wedding, Junpei and Ayano found that they were expecting a child. Their baby girl made her way into the world, cared for by two loving parents in a stable home. It was a basic fairy tale story of a mother, a father, and their new addition. The building of a happy home...
One day, baby sat in her parent's arms and began to drift into a deep sleep. She was almost in dreamland when a loud bang came from the door. Before either of the parents could react, a silhouette hidden in a cloud of mist entered.
The shadow reached out for the girl and she reached back, not knowing any better. She was suddenly pulled back by her mother as her father stood protectively in front of them.
"You can't have her!" Junpei shouted, furrowing his eyebrows.
"What a poor way of saying hello," huffed the man hidden in the darkness. Ayano held her child tighter as fear began to set in. Junpei clenched his fists.
"What do you want?" he spat. The shadow man let out a small chuckle.
"You know what I want, Jun."
"No!"
"She must and she will. The dark side will grow with the powers she has been gifted," spoke the silhouette as he got a little closer, making the parents back up.
"W-What do you mean?" Ayano asked.
"With your control over the mind and Jun's solar quirk, that child's power will be practically unstoppable if she is trained right. She'll be of better use with me," the shadow said as it reached for the child again. Junpei, scared of what might happen if he got too close to the child, lunged at the male. He got a solid punch in on his face before sending him across the room.
"Get out of here and leave my family alone, you bastard!" Junpei roared. The man, now fully out of the purple warp, slowly got up. He spat on the floor before glaring at the couple. Ayano noticed that the hand that once covered the man's face had fallen off for a moment before he picked it up and reattached it.
"If it's family you want, it's family you'll get," the man muttered before disappearing into the mist again. Everything went quiet as Junpei and Ayano waited for something to happen. When nothing gave them the presumption that they were in danger, the couple let down their guards.
They sat with their baby for a few more minutes, making sure that the man wasn't going to come back. Then, they put the child back down in her bed. Ayano sighed when the girl finally fell asleep. She turned to her husband with teary eyes.
"I still think this is just the calm before the storm," she said with a worried tone. Junpei wrapped his arms around her, tightly hugging her as she buried her head into his chest. Junpei narrowed his eyes in a sad way.
"Trust me, Ayano. This child doesn't need a house full of worry and doubt. Even if my brother does attack, all we can do is wait," the father tried to sound hopeful but only made his tone appear grimmer. Ayano gave him an unsure look before whipping away her tears and planting a quick peck on his cheek.
She sniffled while nodding somberly, "You're right...I just want what's best for our child, Jun." Junpei, narrowing his eyes as his own uncertainty began to cloud his mind, held his wife with one arm. They stood silently as they guarded the infant. When the coast seemed to be clear, Ayano and Junpei felt safe enough to sleep.
Just as the dust began to settle, the shroud of purple mist returned. This time, it made sure not to be seen, appearing in the shadows so it was barely noticeable. In all reality, it didn't matter if the warp was hidden or not. The one who stepped out of it was able to mask their presence. The enigma was wearing a white bodysuit with a built-in hood and black straps around the waist, left bicep, and right thigh.
It walked right into the baby's room with no sense of precaution, standing next to the bed. Noticing the child's sleeping parents where nowhere to be seen, it didn't hesitate and picked up the infant. It then began its silent trek back to the purple fog.
"You!"
The figure spun around at the sudden shout. It was Ayano. She looked mortified.
"Why? Why would you side with them?" she asked, voice breaking as tears fell down her tired face. The figure was silent. Soon, Junpei ran in. He stared at the figure that held his baby girl.
"Let her go," he demanded. Silently, the peculiarity that had appeared in their home began to take its leave. Junpei swung into action. He ran for the figure, fist glowing brightly. Out of pure instinct, his opponent put their hands up to shield themselves from the bright light. Junpei lunged forward, grabbing the toddler as she fell, a light coo escaping her tiny lips.
The enigma stood up, shaking its head to regain its vision. When they saw Junpei holding the baby, they clicked their tongue against the roof of their mouth. Within a fraction of a second, the figure disappeared. Junpei checked his surroundings before walking over to his wife. He held his breath...
"J-Jun..." Ayano's voice cracked. Junpei couldn't say anything before his leg was kicked out from under him. He yelped as he dropped to the floor, clutching his baby tightly. However, he couldn't hold on when the figure punched him in the head. He was barely able to stay conscious as he watched his baby get snatched from his arms. Ayano tried to stop it, doing everything from kicking to screaming, even trying to use her quirk to manipulate the figure to put her little girl down. Instead, the mystery villain disappeared, reappeared behind her, and threw her across the room.
There was nothing they could do...
Now, with both parents no longer in the way, the figure began to walk back to where it came from. Little did they know that Junpei wasn't going to let a fuzzy head and blurry vision get in the way of saving his child. He staggered to his feet and ran towards them, refusing to give up.
"Jun!" Ayano cried as she watched her husband bodyslam the figure. Despite her frantic warnings, Junpei didn't stop and ended up forcing both him and the intruder through the portal, as well as their baby. Ayano fell silent as tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Junpei..." she mumbled before breaking down completely. She knew where her husband had gone and knew the probability of her getting to see him or her daughter again was very low...
That was the last anybody saw of Junpei. He had simply disappeared and was never seen again. Ayano tried to get the police and local hero agencies to help, but no one wanted to hear the rantings of a frantic housewife whose husband left her and took the child. With no real evidence, there was no real case. There was nothing she could do to save her family...
Her husband, who she had risked everything for, was gone...Her daughter, too. The small child was living proof that the standards and expectations of life don't really tell someone how to live. She had big hopes for what her family would one day become but she had become so demoralized by the situation.
Ayano thought that maybe things could get better...maybe there was hope. Despite her non-stop searching and optimistic thinking, she knew there was no way she would get to see her beloved family again. So, she laid on the floor of a cold and empty home, crying the most authentic tears you could come upon.
"My Junpei..." she tightly held a picture close to her chest. The photograph was taken when Ayano and Junpei's baby was born. Ayano sat in the bed, holding the newborn. Junpei stood by her side, holding them tightly...
"My Kaori..." Ayano stroked the glass that covered her baby's face, her tears flowing harder. Her watery eyes drifted to the fourth figure in the picture and her breathing slowed hesitantly...
"My Kazusa..."
