As soon as she walked in he noticed. He noticed her whole attitude was different, as soon as she walked into the room the air was colder, sadder almost. She smiled at Tony as she walked past and sat at her desk, only to freeze when she saw it. She just stared at the white envelope on her desk along with the flowers she somehow hadn't noticed first. Her heart was racing, her head was spinning.

"Ziva? everything okay?" Tony asked as he leaned forward in his chair, a worried and confused expression on his face.

"did you see who put these here?" she asked, gesturing to the flowers and envelope. "no sorry, they were here when i got here" he said, "why? have you got a secret admirer?" he snarked as he walked over to her desk. "i guess so" she shrugged and continued to log onto her computer.

She knew exactly who they were from, she had hoped she would never ever have to see him again. She should have expected this though, she should have called someone when she found the note in her car but she didn't.

Tony sighed and walked back to his desk. He sat down and too, logged onto his computer. He threw a couple of worried glances Ziva's way but she was too busy staring at the envelope. "are you gonna open it?" he asked, she looked up at him and smiled slightly. She opened the enveloped and held the tears back as she read what was on it. She closed her eyes and took a shaky breathe before composing herself and putting it in her top drawer.

She picked up her pen and began writing, filling out arrest reports and warrant's. Tony watched her carefully as her hand shook while she held the pen, he took his gaze up to her eyes and noticed they weren't even on the paper, they were simply staring at the floor ahead of her. After a few seconds she shook her head and continued to write, her hand still shaking. "you're shaking" Tony said as he walked over to her desk again and put his hands on either side of her desk, stopping her from escaping.

"whats wrong? you can tell me" he said sincerely as he looked into her eyes. He almost frowned when she looked up at him, her eyes were cold. Not the usual soft brown he had always enjoyed, they were glassy, full of sadness and maybe fear. She smiles slightly before shaking her head, as if telling him she doesn't want to talk about it.

Fortunately for her, Gibbs choses that moment to announce they have a case. Ziva rushes to grab her things and pushes past Tony to get to the elevator. Tony eyes the top drawer, wondering if he could read the letter without her noticing. "now, DiNozzo" Gibbs yelled from the elevator, he sighs and grabs his stuff before running to the elevator before it closes.

Tony and Ziva quietly get into the car and start their drive to the crime scene. Tony glanced over at her as she fiddled with her hands, she was being unnaturally quiet and jumpy lately. Whenever Tony would put his hand on her shoulder she would flinch and shrug out of his grasp, then smile like it was nothing.

The two arrived at the crime scene and walked over to the body. "what do we got duck?" Gibbs asks as he readies his notepad. "time of death appears to be around 11 last night" Ducky explained, "cause of death, blunt forced trauma to the head, she has some cuts and bruises on her hands and arms probably from self defence" he says.

Tony looked over at Ziva who seemed to be carefully eyeing off her surroundings like she was looking for something, or someone. "what are you looking for?" he asked as he gently nudged her arm, not missing the flinch in response. "nothing" she replied before walking over to McGee who was collecting evidence from the behind the cabin.

Gibbs went inside the cabin to look for some information, Ducky and Jimmy took the body back to autopsy, Tony walked over to Ziva and McGee to help look for evidence.

"Ziva" Gibbs yelled as he walked over to the three of them. He held up a white envelope with her name on the front in blood, he waved it angrily in her face as he waited for an explanation. Ziva just stood there, looking at the envelope in her boss's hand.

"he's back" she whispered as she looked down at her shoes
