Prolouge Balto's Acceptance

Balto had returned home with the sled team and the medicine. The whole town was cheering him even more than they ever had Steele. And even the town's dogs were looking admiringly at him. When the team arrived at the hospital everyone was petting and stroking his head no one was afraid of him because of him being part wolf. After he was unhooked from the sled Rosie's father walked him into hospital.

Rosie was happy to see Balto. And she knew was the hero. Jenna also came running over to where Balto was standing with her owner. Rosie smiled.

"You know dad, I always knew Balto was a good dog. Jenna really seems to like him, he doesn't have a home can't we keep him? He's a hero, and heroes shouldn't have to be alone.

"If you had suggested that the first time we met him Rosie I would have said no." Her father started saying. "But now I see appearances aren't everything. A couple of people have seen that champion dog 'Steele'. We thought that he was fortunate enough to survive the wilderness and that the rest of team and the medicine was lost. While we may never know the truth of what happened, one think is certain he is no great dog." Then turning to Balto he asks "What do say boy? Want to be part of our family?"

Balto looks uncertain out the window where Boris is looking in. The old goose smiles and nods. Then Balto barks wagging his tail and gives Rosie's father a friendly lick. Rosie's mother smiles from her spot next to Rosie's hospital bed. She says:

"Looks like we have a new member of the family."

Jenna barks her approval. While outside a certain 'hero' was slinking around. He knew Balto was taking his place as town hero. And was stealing the girl that should be his. But he wasn't through yet he was going to get the Wolf dog back.
