Okay… A very very VERY short one shot that takes place right before the start of New Vegas. The Courier in this is also a courier for the NCR. Another thing, this depiction is very different from the actual game as all of the couriers (if any even were) were not from the NCR military.

Sixteen year old Jeremy Henderson rolled off the bedroll he was occupying. He had to carry a package to Primm that day. Having slept in his NCR fatigues, he was almost completely prepared for the day. He was pulling on his boots when the other five he shared a tent with showed varying signs of wakefulness. He finished lacing his boots and reached for the satchel he would carry his package in.

"Already up Henderson?" Talon Fredricks looked at his friend. He too was one of the Couriers who would be carrying a package. As a matter of fact, all six residents of the tent would be carrying one. Jeremy was Courier Six. Talon was Courier Four.

It was only a few more minutes until the six couriers were ready to head out. It was still dark when they left. The plan was to stick together for as much of the journey as possible. They were all headed to the same destination in the first place. They had been traveling for a good two days already.

They started out slowly, careful of where they stepped. They kept their weapons at the ready. They were armed with service rifles and a backup weapon. The backups were mostly combat knives but Zack Ross, or Courier Three, had a worn 10mm pistol.

The sun came up an hour later, at five o'clock sharp, the sun rose. It was then that they thanked their uniforms for being tan and blending with the Mojave sand. The sun beat down on the six. The only sound that came from them was Talon biting down on an apple.

"Where'd you get that from?" asked Zack.

"Breakfast." Was the answer as he continued to eat. A collective group eye roll.

"Hold up." the leader of the group, Nelson Ward Jr, or Courier One, held his hand up. The group froze and dropped to a crouch.

"What is it?" Jeremy whispered to his leader.

"We have to split now. Group of Legion headed this way. Be safe." He relayed to the others. They nodded and went in opposite directions. Jeremy stayed low to the ground. He dropped to the ground as they came into sight. He held his breath as the Legion troops walked by. The tan of his uniform kept him hidden as they passed. It felt like an hour that they were in sight. He released a sigh of relief when they disappeared. He stood and continued walking.

Two days later

It was dark. Jeremy strained to see in the darkness. He kept his service rifle out, just in case he needed it. A crack of a twig. He stopped and swung around. Everything went dark.
