Hi everyone! I already have all the chapters written [there's only three not including the prologue, it's pretty short] so this is completed just not all published. Hope you enjoy! Please review for feedback! It'd be amazing if you did :)
And FYI in Norse mythology Laufey is a woman and Loki's father Fárbauti is a guy, but Marvel made Laufey the father. So for this Fárbauti will be Loki's biological mother.
And I pretty sure that only beings of great strength can wield the Tesseract and I don't know if that applies to Jotuns but since Fárbauti is trying to save her kid she gets momma strength.
Tesseract, AKA the Casket.
Jotunheim was falling. Their forces, losing to the Asgardians. Laufey had been defeated, and the barbaric Odin had stolen her other child. She ran past the towering ice structures, further away from the palace. The shouts of the Asgardians weren't far. They knew what they were after had been stolen.
With a glance behind her, Fárbauti saw that no one was in sight. Now that she'd stopped the pain began to catch up with her. A hiss escaped her throat and she crouched down, clutching her side which had a wound she acquired from when she had stolen the Casket.
Distant yells reached her ears, alerting her to the nearing Asgardians presence.
With careful hands, she slid the knapsack off her shoulders and allowed herself a few moments to gaze at the infant sleeping peacefully. She was small for a Jotun. It was only a matter of time before Laufey would cast her and her brother aside, regarding them as runts.
"Kirsi…" She whispered, quiet enough not to wake her. "You'll be safe on Midgard. Away from those putrid Asgardians." Fárbauti gripped the Casket, gasping as she felt its power surge through her. She knew she wouldn't make the jump, and Kirsi would be orphaned. But she would survive without her. There are humans on Midgard, no doubt they know how to care for a child. She would make them — if they were unwilling, using her dying breath, take Kirsi in. "It will be over soon, little one."
Just as she began to activate the Casket, it was smacked from her hands with considerable force. With a grunt she fell forward, her arms wrapped protectively around Kirsi. From where she sat on her knees, she stared at two golden boots that were spattered in dirt and blood. She could not move because the fear had settled in. She was unarmed, her way of escape was gone. And she was going to die and leave her children at the mercy of the Asgardians.
Fárbauti's eyes drifted up and realized the figure towering over her was none other than Odin himself. One of his eyes was missing; what was left was a dark cavern, bloody and scarred. She knew it was him that had subdued Laufey, took Loki. She should have felt an indescribable rage, but all she felt was nothing. She'd seen so much bloodshed and loss in this war; while Laufey grew distant and riveted with the notion of destroying Asgard, she started chipping away until she became this empty shell unable to produce any more animosity even in the presence of the King.
Despite that, she would not beg. Her pride, her loyalty to her own was ever prominent. To lower herself and plead for mercy at the hands of the one leading the attack on their race would be traitorous.
"You will not have this child." She stated. Odin did not answer, only turned slightly to kick the Casket out of her reach. "I will die before I see another child of mine become a pitiful Asgardian. If my daughter shall be banished to the ends of the realms, so be it. You will not have your hands on–"
Odin's weapon then plunged itself into her heart. Killing the already dying Fárbauti.
Odin sheathed his weapon. Fárbauti, he noticed, had been injured severely. A dark stain was spreading on her left side where a chunk of flesh was missing. He'd done what was needed, and put her to rest.
The baby had stirred. It's cries resounding in his ears. The sound of a life which had barely started, but already seen so much. With the child in his arms, he cast a spell on it so the features of its race faded away and it resembled an Asgardian. He wouldn't honor Fárbauti's last wishes, he knew it'd be best to take the child to Asgard. It was unthinkable to let a child of Laufey wander the realms, especially after the outcome of the war.
And so, he returned to Asgard.
The war between the Jotuns and Agardians had ended with the Jotunheim royal family scattered. Soon after the All-Father and Lady Frigga birthed a new son, Loki. And a once infertile couple found themselves blessed with a child, who they named Raija
