Hello! This is my first TMNT fanfic that I felt comfortable posting on this site. It is set in the 2012 verse, seeing as that one is my favorite and Donnie is my favorite boi.

This was just something that was nagging at me that I felt the need to write. It's a one-shot that features no shipping.

Also, I was listening to songs from 'Grease' while typing this, and the first one that popped up was 'Sandra Dee.' I don't know what that has to do with anything, I'm just running out of things to say (type.)

On a more serious note, I hope everybody is doing alright and staying safe! Make sure you socially distance youself, even if it may be hard for you. And be sure to wash your hands often.

Alright, back to finding different ways to keep ourselves busy while we're all locked up inside our homes.

LINE BREAK

Mikey sat up with a yawn. His dream last night was awesome! He dreamt that he and Donnie were lab mice who wanted to take over the world (for some strange reason.) Donnie was the super smart guy who always hit him (again, for some strange reason) and he was the one who just laughed and went along with whatever Donnie was saying, though Mikey's dream self sounded suspiciously more like the "dumb Donnie"from when Mikey accidentally spilled the brain thing on him. Heck, the dream-Donnie didn't even sound much like Donnie, but Mikey didn't want to think about it too much. It would just give him a headache.

Humming, Mikey got out of bed and made his way to the kitchen. Strangely, he didn't see Raph's training dummy sitting in its usual spot, and upon entering the kitchen, he didn't see the toaster either. A bad feeling settled in the pit of his stomach, but he ignored it. There wasn't really any reason for him to panic. Maybe Leo broke the toaster again, and it was being fixed by Donnie in the lab. Yeah, that's it. Maybe Raph had moved his training dummy, or broken it, and Donnie was fixing it, too.

Soon after, Donnie entered the kitchen, followed by April, Leo, Casey, and Raph. Donnie sat in his usual spot with a cup of coffee. Mikey noticed some bandages wrapped around Donnie's hand and frowned, concerned for his immediate older brother. Donnie noticed and very slightly shook his head, silently asking Mikey not to mention it. Leo frowned at the counter as Mikey took his own seat, a slice of pizza in his hand.

"Mikey, where's the toaster?" Leo asked. Mikey shrugged.

"Not sure," he answered, dread returning. "I haven't seen it since yesterday."

Raph sat down at the table, also holding a slice of pizza.

"And what happened to my training dummy?" he asked. Donnie set down his cup and plastered a nervous smile on his face.

"Uh, that's my fault... I was working last night and came to the kitchen for something, and I must have grabbed the toaster by accident. On my way back, I bumped into something and it rattled off into the sewer. It must have been your training dummy," he said.

"Why didn't you turn on the light?" April asked. Donnie rubbed the back of his head.

"Because it was midnight?" he said, though it sounded like more of a question. He shook his head. "And the toaster might be somewhere near the sewers, too."

"Ok, Raph and I can head out and find them," Leo said. "Since the training dummy belongs to Raph, and I kind of want the toaster."

Donnie nodded. Mikey noticed that Donnie was sitting in a position where no one would be able to see the bandages wrapped around his hand and frowned to himself.

"Mikey, are you alright?" April asked. "You seem kind of distracted."

"I'm fine," Mikey said. He smiled and waved her off. "Just thinking about pizza, and gaming, and ice cream, and gaming with Ice Cream Kitty while eating pizza-"

"Ok, we get it!" Raph snapped. Mikey smirked inwardly. Being annoying was always an effective way to hide his worry. Raph stood up and walked out of the lair, stopping only to wait for Leo. Once the two were gone, Donnie shifted his position.

He turned slightly so his other arm was visible as well. Mikey studied his face. Donnie was a little TOO focused on their retreating brothers. Mikey sighed and stated that he was going to the pit, the nervous feeling in his stomach growing.

Donnie scratched his bandaged arm. The bandages were really itchy. April gasped and gestured to his arm.

"What happened, D?" she asked. Even Casey expressed some concern for him. Donnie rubbed his arm.

"I was bitten by a rat the other day," he said. Casey gasped and backed off slightly, but April just frowned.

"Bitten?! Are you sure you're alright?" April asked him in concern. She ran towards Donnie and carefully removed the bandages, revealing a reddish-brown bite mark on his hand.

"I am feeling a bit dizzy today," he said, a white foam-like substance dribbling down his chin.

Leo and Raph had split up a while ago. The leader was following the smell of burned toast, hoping it would lead him to the toaster. He had no idea what Donnie had been intending to grab, and certainly no idea what the genius had intended to do with it so he could put it out here, but Leo hoped that Donnie hadn't messed up the toaster.

Although, he supposed, Donnie would be the one to fix it. After all, he was the one who built it.

Leo had some doubts about his brother's story, though. Why would Donnie still put his invention out here after bringing it back to the lab and surely realizing it was a toaster? Donnie must have had the lights on in the lab, right? Unless he was just THAT tired last night and truly didn't realize it until everyone saw that the toaster was missing. It wouldn't be the first time Donnie worked himself into the ground because of a project.

Leo rounded a corner and saw the toaster, looking the same as it always had. Leo approached it slowly, expecting some kind of trap to spring, but nothing happened. With a relieved sigh, he bent over to pick it up. He turned it around and noticed a small camera had been implanted into the side.

"What the heck is this?" he asked himself. He bent closer to inspect it, but he jumped back when he heard a loud scream erupt from wherever Raph had gone. Leo turned around quickly and opened his mouth to shout his brother's name, but the toaster started beeping. Leo turned back to it, shocked.

"Please tell me you aren't..." he said to the object, but before he could do anything, it exploded. Leo dropped it on the ground before it did and jumped into his shell. Thankful that he hadn't gotten hurt, he got out of his shell and glared at the intact toaster. A small flag popped out of the top with the word 'boo' written on it in Donnie's neat handwriting. Before Leo could say anything, something jumped out at him from behind, grabbing his shoulders and laughing hysterically. Leo screamed and ran away from the site without even turning around.

Raph found his training dummy pretty quickly. He smirked to himself, proud of this accomplishment. He grabbed it, determined to bring it back to the lair, but decided to get in a good few punches while it was there. He needed to build up his strength before lifting something as heavy as a sand-filled punching dummy that wasn't named after a renaissance artist.

He removed his sais and started punching the dummy. Some of the shuriken that were stuck in it dropped to the sewer floor, but Raph was just getting started. He started kicking it, then stabbing it with his sais a couple times. When he went in for the finishing move, both sais on either shoulder, the training dummy fell over and a giant cockroach sprang towards him, leg things outstretched to grab the turtle.

Raph screamed and backed away from the giant roach, holding out his sais-except he didn't have his favored weapon, since they were still in the training dummy.

"SEWER APPLES!" he shouted. He heard something that sounded suspiciously like an explosion from the direction Leo had gone in. "Leo!"

Raph turned his attention back to the giant roach, which was advancing ever closer to him. Raph got into a fighting stance before feeling some kind of tickling sensation on his toes. He looked down and saw a bunch of creepy, black-shelled somethings crawling all over his feet. He screamed again and fell backwards, quickly getting his feet below him before running off in the direction of the lair, hearing a loud scream heading that direction as well.

LINE BREAK

Mikey looked up in shock and concern when he heard April and Casey scream. They came running out of the kitchen, followed by Donnie, who had a knife in his hand and white foam pouring out of his mouth. The two humans ran behind the couch, panting.

"What's wrong?" Mikey asked. He turned back to Donnie, who was growling and gripping the knife tightly, slowly making his way towards them. "And why is Donnie growling like a dog?"

"Mikey... I think he has rabies!" April told him. Mikey frowned, catching onto the bluff immediately. When they were eight, Leo and Raph had forced them all to watch Cujo. Mikey was really scared and asked Donnie what was wrong with the poor doggie. Donnie had explained that the dog had rabies, a kind of zombie disease that animals got that made them want to kill everything, even family. Mikey had been terrified that he or his brothers would get rabies, but Donnie had quickly assured him that turtles couldn't get rabies.

At that moment, Leo and Raph came bursting into the lair, screaming their heads off. They hid behind the couch as well, Raph missing his weapons and Leo shaking like a leaf. Neither had what they had originally set out to obtain.

"Ok, seriously, what's going on with you guys?" Mikey asked. Leo was about to answer him when he noticed Donnie, who was now almost beside Mikey and screamed again.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO DONNIE?!" he exclaimed.

Mikey opened his mouth to reveal Donnie's bluff, but Donnie, who must have sensed what Mikey was about to say, grabbed the youngest turtle by the mouth and dragged him off the couch. This made everyone who wasn't the two youngest turtles scream at the tops of their lungs.

Mikey, who knew Donnie wasn't actually dangerous, just rolled his eyes. All of a sudden, the younger turtle burst out laughing.

"Donnie! S-stop it! That-HAHAHA-tickles!" Mikey laughed. This made the others stop and peer around the side of the couch, catching Donnie tickling his little brother.

"I win, Mikey!" Donnie exclaimed. Mikey continued laughing, and eventually, Donnie joined in. Everyone else in the room just looked confused.

"What's going on?" Casey asked.

"Gotcha!" Donnie exclaimed. He and Mikey high-threed while Donnie whooped in victory.

"What's happening?" April asked. Donnie stood up, offering a hand to Mikey.

"Mikey and I made a bet a couple days ago," Donnie explained. "Mikey bet that I wouldn't be able to scare the 'fearless leader' and the 'resident hothead', and I bet that I could. So, I spent the last couple nights working on a way to scare you guys!"

"H-how?!" Leo stuttered.

"And why involve us?!" Casey demanded. Donnie laughed, and Mikey cocked an eyeridge in interest.

"I just wanted to mess with you guys," Donnie said. The two humans glared at him, but Donnie ignored them. "As for 'how', it was easy.

"For Raph's prank, I added pressure points to his training dummy where I knew he liked to strike it the most: the shoulders. Once he activated the pressure points, the training dummy would be pulled back via pulley system, and a giant inflatable cockroach would take its place. I chose a really dark area so that Raph wouldn't be able to tell the difference between flowing water and black beetles.

"Leo's was a tad more complicated. I had to install a camera directly into the toaster, then upload a photo of Leo. The second Leo made the exact same face and pose as the picture, the toaster exploded. The resulting explosion triggered a pop-up balloon with a recording of the Joker's laughter, which I had hoped would grab Leo instead of just scaring him senseless.

"Finally, the simplest of my pranks, April and Casey. I painted a design on my arm to look like a bite mark, then wrapped it up with some bandages that were lying around. I also slipped a small capsule into my coffee that created the foam effect."

"What did you use for the foam?" Leo asked. Donnie licked his lips.

"Whipped cream makes for very convincing rabies foam," he said. Everyone stared at him in shock. "And to think, Mikey could have undone all of it if I hadn't grabbed him."

Now they were all staring at Mikey in shock. The small turtle chuckled sheepishly.

"How?" Raph asked.

"Cujo..." Mikey said. Raph and Leo opened their mouths to say something, thought twice, and shut their mouths again.

"What did you win?" April asked tentatively. Donnie gave everyone a nerve-racking grin.

"A pizza party," he said.

"That doesn't sound so bad..." Raph said. Donnie's smile grew a little more smug.

"Where no one is allowed to touch my pizza except me," he finished. Mikey sighed.

"Why did I make it a bet?" he groaned to himself. Donnie put an arm around Mikey's shoulders.

"Because," he said. "Dr. Prankenstein didn't think that anyone would be able to prank someone as elaborately as him."

"Hang on!" Casey suddenly exclaimed. Everyone turned their attention to him. "Mikey didn't get a prank?"

"It's worth it just to see him lose," Donnie said with a shrug. He saw the upset expression on Mikey's face and sighed.

"Know what? We haven't ordered any of my pizza yet, which means you guys can all still stuff yourselves," he said. He grabbed one of the many pizza boxes stacked up around them and handed it to Mikey, who brightened up instantly.

"Awww, thanks dude," Mikey said. He opened up the box, and suddenly, glitter flew out and covered everyone except Donnie, who had stepped out of range of the glitter surprise before Mikey opened the box.

"But, let's be honest, I might have too much time on my hands," Donnie said, holding up a bottle of glitter. "Next time, Doc, try and find a better hiding place for all of your glitter."

Hope you enjoyed my first TMNT fanfic, and sorry if anyone felt OOC. Mikey just isn't taking anyone's crap.

In the middle of typing this end note, 'Shell Shocked' from the 2014 movie came on! XD
