Context: AU, cross-fiction – of sorts.
Full Summary: This is a multi-chapter, alternate universe, Glimore Girls cross fiction, which is loosely based around the plot of B.M. Bower's novel "The Spook Hills Mystery," from the November 7, 1914 issue of popular magazine. Similar to the Netflix series "Stranger Things," it will incorporate elements of science fiction, horror, and mystery through its depiction of a de-humanized, "semi-human/semi-monsterous other," that Luke, Lorealai, Rory, and Jess must learn to deal with together, as a result of a mysterious, top secret, government "human-testing experiment" gone horribly wrong, right around the time that Rory was born. Due to on-going government intervention by an international paranormal investigation unit known only as "The Center" (borrowed from Marathon Entertainment's Martin Mystery franchise), no one remembers that this "paranormal beast" has led to many unfortunate deaths (SPOILER WARNING- including those of Taylor Doose of 'Doose's Market,' Babette and Morey Dell's cat Cinnamon. After the near-death encounters of Star's Hallow newcomers - Max Madina and his adopted son Dean Forester - lands them in the hospital), Lorelai and the gang decide to visit them. Fortunately, they get there before the agents from the center have a chance to wipe their memories of the "monster" that attacked them. Upon hearing their traumatic experience, Lorelai decides she's had enough, and takes a stand with Rory, Luke, and Jess, to get to the bottom of this "Stars Hallow Mystery."
Additional Information: This is a story which was inspired mainly by the themes discussed throughout my graduate courses this term. The cover image for this story is an image from "The Red God Laughed" from the Apr 1939 issue of Weird Tales. I am using it to give readers an idea of what the "monster" of Stars Hallow may look like.
Disclaimers:
Weird Tales, Glimore Girls, Stranger Things, Martin Mystery, Men in Black, and all related materials, along with any all other references to external franchises and/or fandoms within this AU cross-fiction, belong to their respective owners.
This author has nothing personal against Christopher (Rory's biological dad). Spoiler warning: I just felt that it would just be more interesting plot wise if he remained in Lorelai's memory as a naive, "good guy." Read more about Lorelai and Chris' relationship in chapters 2 - 3 ... and possibly on-wards. ...
This author also has nothing personal against Babette and Morey Dell's cat Cinnamon either. (Potential Season 1 Episode 5) Spoiler warning: I am trying to the best of my ability to stay true to the source text/original show/cannon.
Finally, this author also has nothing personal against either Max Madina and Dean Forester. (Potential) Spoiler warning: It is my personal opinion that maybe Lorelai and Rory, respectively, should never have ended up dating them on the show.)
This fan fiction is currently rated M for mature audiences. Therefore, it is not suitable for children or teens below the age of 16, as it contains some "non-explicit suggestive adult themes," along with "references to some violence." See for more details.
It's also the second fan fiction that I have ever written and published online for a final project for school/university. Therefore, please be nice, and avoid flaming in the comments. Thank you.
Happy reading everyone!
